| Proposed 6th Brissy bike ride and Family day Posted: 7/4/2008 4:51:45 PM | This event is not an organised bike ride. It is an organised, family friendly meeting point to ride/drive to. Date: 20 July Place: Baroumba Dam, near Imbil.
I propose to cater this event with basic bbq food and hot and cold drinks, so it is absolutely critical we have confirmed numbers for attendance. We have chosen this location because it offers a great ride or easy drive, whatever your preference. You will navigate your own way there, however a location map will be posted.
The time to arrive is open with bbq starting at 11am and finishing at 1pm
If the weather turns nasty, this event will be postponed.
Please post your expressions of interest asap so that we can post this as an event!!!

| Proposed 6th Brissy bike ride and Family day Posted: 7/4/2008 8:50:18 PM | Hi Alan
Sounds like a good idea even though its a fairly long way from the Gold Coast.
That being said, I would be more than happy to lead a ride from the Gold Coast as a starting point and meet any others interested in joining the ride along the way.
My route would be:
Start @ Macca's Coomera Shell Servo Yatala BP Servo Motorway to Brisbane Samford Mt Glorious Somerset Dam Kilcoy Woodford Conondale Kenilworth Imbil
Returning: Kenilworth Maleny Woodford Mt Mee Dayboro Samford Motorway to Yatala, then Coomera
Can pick up people along the way at: Yatala BP Servo Inner City Bypass exit at Kelvin Grove Samford Village
Because of the distance etc, I would look at leaving around 8:30 am and leaving to return around 1:30pm
Will definately be a good all round ride with plenty of everything. Weather permitting of course

It's not far from Kenilworth. Ahh Kenilworth. The town mobile telecommunications forgot, where mobile phones put their feet up and take a good long snooze. I just wanted to mention this to anyone going on the ride who doesn't already realise it, because if anyone thought they could rely on mobiles to find each other or work out any last minute details, then they are going to strike difficulties. Not that anyone would do that though...

| Proposed 6th Brissy bike ride and Family day Posted: 7/5/2008 10:46:41 PM | ^^After spending 3 days wandering lost amongst the toothless, shoeless locals in Kenilworth searching for a small, skinny red-head I can only second what Naamah says.
Dont rely on your mobiles for anything out there. Also take spare shoes, breath mints and a large rake to keep the ferals .....umm I mean townsfolk at bay!
