From Yahoo News

Police were sent out on a 999 emergency call after an anxious caller reported a "bright stationary object" in the sky - and were stunned to discover it was the moon. South Wales Police insisted it was not an out-of-this-world prank but simply a bizarre case of mistaken identity. A police patrol was urgently dispatched to the South Wales valleys home of a man who turned out to be unable to recognise the moon when he saw it.

A man in South Wales phoned the police because he saw the moon in the sky, what do you think about this? Maybe he spent all his life down a coal mine and that's why he didn't recognise the moon when he saw it. Or is it a cover-up? Did he see something that the authorities don't want us to know about so they are saying it was the moon?

I don't know. Pretty odd, or the guy was drunk, or maybe he has Alzheimers (Old-Timers in American) disease and having trouble recognising anything? Wonder what he thought the police were - aliens? Maybe we should hear from him.

If a person can have a sickness that makes them not recognize thier face in a reflection I'm sure the same can happen with the moon sad if he was locked in a basement and just getting out

I'd love to share with you a story ~ but to appericate it ~ it requires some set up.

I have a brother that a sea captian ~ and through his position ~ I too ~ have clocked some sea time serving ~ whatevers needed ~ deckhand/cook/ engineering/ firstmate/ wheelhouse relief.

Now sea vessels run 24/7 ~ so, much time is spent on a dark sea at night and there is a lots of things to look out for. ~ The wheelhouse is always dark ~ any white light kills your night vision `~ so much time is spent peering out into the darkness. ~ We have charts, GPS, sonar, radar and coded lights on vessels , bueys and platforms. ~ It takes several months of hard intense study to learn them all. ~ and for the fist year ~ you never feel confident with your knowledge

So while this all might seem to be an easy thing to do ~ It can be intense at times ~ if you are socked in ~ you are constantly straining to see out and checking all your insturment, in a heavy pitching seas, gail side winds and know according to the charts and GPS you are entering shipping lanes, ~ the adrenaline is pumping ~ Those big ships can do 45 knots and we are good to make way at 18 ~ If they are 15 minute away when you first see them , You could easily be toast. You never, ever trust one light or radar reading ~ Ship came go to the bottom in less then 2 minutes easy. You are there on top and then your not.

All of a sudden this bright object appeared just off the starboard bow ~ We watch it for a minute, it seen to be huge and getting bigger and headed straight for us ~ We went hard a port ` our hearts a racing ~ scared to death ~~ we almost ran into the moon.

We clean ourselfs up ~ got a great laugh out of it ~ You should have been there.

I've been working as a merchant mariner for seven years, and almost half of the mariners I've worked with seriously claim to have seen some kind of UFO. Usually, they've gotten a good enough look at it to see that it's a real, physical object. Federal officials always insist that it was really aurora borealis, ball lightning, an airplane, or something else. In some cases, they write it off as something that--like ball lightning--they were being dismissive of just a few years ago.

The scientific method tells us not to make assumptions, nor to reject evidence out of hand. The authorities don't take that approach, and most people don't come forward with evidence of anything unusual for fear of being ridiculed by authorities and being ostracized by everyone else.

It also tells us that anecdotal evidence is completely useless- otherwise, we'd still be searching for sea monsters, and mermaids....

Sea monsters are found all the time...new species and forms of gigantism are being pulled out of the water all the time.

Mermaids? Reports of seamen dragging manatees from the water and using the sexually have been published from time to time...of course that was in the early days of colonization etc...then again...given the expeanse of human experience, I wouldn't be surprised of this is still done today. Thus, the whole "concept" of "mermaids" exists...and it also proves that "beauty is in the mind of the beholder".

there were a couple of news items a couple of weeks ago about people seeing ufo's over wales where in each case the authorities confirmed it was a ufo.

Maybe its one of those sightings and the powers that be have decided to gloss over it with some hilariously weak Men In Black style cover story.

I love conspiracies me

Before we are shipped to earth, they brief us on everything...except for the moon.
Your moon looks just like a deadly Gubbian mothership.
I think it's a practical joke or something done on us newbies.

I am being dead serious.

Larry King show has been doing someting on UFO's twice in as many weeks now.

The hard evidence is there ` on radar screens ~ in video ` tapes ~ even if

you wish to discount all creditable wittness sighting of military and law enforcement.

They are called ~ simply UFO"s ~ that does not imply their place of orgin or aliens.

The oppositition ~ seem to want hard facts~ yet are the first to jump to "little green men" they'll be the first to bring it up ~ which I find very odd.

There is something out there that we know little of ~ and it's advance well beyond anything we know or understand. ~ this scares the crap out of people.

The French and English governments have conseded to the facts as presented and offer discloser. ~ Seems American government is still holding out.

I am clueless as to who they are or where they came from ~ they might well be US.

from a different deminsion or time?

What I do find odd ~ is there are no identifing marks on the craft ~ which is something man has always found a need to do.

If they'd just coroperate and paint numbers of the damn things ~ they'd no longer be UFO's

but until we can figure out how something can do 1900 mph and not break the sound barrier ~ i'm at a complete lost and can only marvel at the endless possibilities that nature offers future mankind ~ if we can make the distance.

There is an engery source yet untapped by mankind.

Great story Dancecard!

I've been on the bridge of ocean going ships! Quite an experience!

There was a case of a train engineer frantically getting his train off
a main line, onto a siding, for fear of a head on collision with VENUS!

Well ~ some people can read a book and it take them to strange lands and distant people~ expose them to conditions ~ never considered or dreamed possible ~ to be shown new horizion ~ and great visions.

to others

It's just a book ~ unless it's their experience ~ they can't see nor understand it.

Don't touch that! It's Hot!

~~ They will touch it ~

This behavior starts at a very early age and continues their whole life through.

until you identify it as the moon ~ it "is" unidentified

is that difficult to understand ?

There is all kinds of conditions that might exist ` at the time of viewing

everyone is not sitting of a park bench ~ on a still, cloudless night in the middle of Pheniox Arizona.

During my basic train many years ago ~ While qualifying with a M14 , I scored a MARKSMAN ~ and wore the deserved Markman medal proudly. ~ While many soldier have been awarded higher honors ~ I qualified on a blstering cold ( 26 degrees)Febuary morning in the middle of worst sand storms I've even seen. ~ Visibility varing for 10 ft to 40 ft and brief dim glimces of the target at 350 meters. ~ The rife was jamming with sand and my goggles were filling with sand ~ eyes full of sand, hurting and all was blurred ~ couldn't hardly breath. ~

Can one read and appericate this situation and compare it's outcome to a fair day at the range?

So some life experiences might help a person ~TO SEE and offer other peoples stories an accounts some greater consideration and apperication. ~ The world is much greater then any one of us.

My observation of people, causes me to see time and time again
that (dare I say MOST) people lack empathy and are generally
quite self involved. This holds true for relationships, business
and in so many other areas of life!

Oh please OP.... be serious!!

I know that this forum is read mostly by Americans but you are from Bolton in ENGLAND, not Bolton in Massachusets or somewhere.

Leave the Americans to enjoy their own conspiracy theories, which they seem to love, and please don't start introducing them over here!
