| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:32:41 AM | Ok probably gonna sound like a redundant thread but hopefully it's not.
Went to meet someone, she basically didn't turn up, i get home later that night and she's online, so i ask in a very nice way what happened? she told me her ex came over with her kid threatening to take her kid from her and apparently hit her and took her mobile.
Seem like a lie or not? Because all of my friends and family are saying that its a huge lie and i believe it to be exactly that. But when i spoke to her she seemed to be completely sincre.

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:34:49 AM | | Sounds to me like a lie. If it really happened why did she not make a point of contacting you first and letting you know what went on? She managed to go online but couldnt be bothered to send you an email to appologise! | |

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:36:33 AM | Be thankful she didnt turn up...... do you really want someone with drama's in your life OP ??

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:41:07 AM | Have to say, it sounds like a classic fake excuse.. I have a friend who has allowed a woman to make excuses like this one over and over for not meeting.. I kept telling him something was up... He finally called her bluff and drove to where she worked.. She freaked and complained about her husband finding out...
If she had suffered such a dreadful attack then she could have called the police, had him arrested and retrieved her mobile... If she was calm and happy enough to be online, then she was obviously safe enough to have left an apology ...
Screams of fakery... | |

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:42:56 AM | mmmm i try to be the eternal optimist .... "try"
end if the day its your call mate, you have been talking to her , so whats your gut instinct? best advice to follow is usually the one screaming in your face..yourself..
surrey gal has a valid point , if it is true , she could of shown you the courtesy of letting you know , without you having to ask..
she may have bottled it because its so nerve racking meeting someone, it could be true about the ex or she could of changed her mind...
did she offer another date to meet?
if not then i think maybe you ought to call it a day and let her get on with her lies/drama/games/life or whatever it is she is doing..
but sorry for you that you had a let down , so you pick youself up shake your self down and get on with it mate

Very true, i have been spending the past 4 yrs trying to get out of the dramatic "Eastenders" version of life which i used to have at my old area and i finally have peace from it. But i do like this girl quite alot and unfortunately she didn't even know that she got automatic rights of her daughter once she split with her ex. She barely knows anything about her rights and his rights. I barely know my own rights to be honest hahaha, but yeah i do wanna avoid the drama in life but so far for the past few months i've only had single young mothers interested in me... since i'm a single father too and proving difficult to find a young woman who actually wants a guy with a kid.
Edit: ^^^ Angelsprinkles... she didnt offer another date time, instead i did the stupid thing and offered another one (DOH!). But yeah, after the deed was done, i just thought along the lines of "could've done some shopping instead or done something else, what a waste of 2 hours". Since New Yrs i've forced myself to think of the more positive things in life when things seem a bit crappy, so i honestly dont feel all that worried about it, just disappointing. Although i did think of the many many excuses that she could've come up with which amused me to a extent and which is what brought me to ask her what happened to amuse myself on what excuse she'd give. But her phone bit might be true, i'll have to find out sometime because she uses it alot on webcam, so i'll see if she makes the mistake of using it a few days after telling me that :P

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 1:48:04 AM | | Any decent woman will look at you trying to raise your child and know that you have good qualities. Take your time , trust your instincts x | |
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 2:00:41 AM | I've called someone all kinds of names after coming up with the most pathetic excuse - and then a few months later discovered that everything they said despite being totally unbelievable was completely true.
My first thought was "Oh god, I feel really bad for not believing them in such a terrible time" and then of course, as had been stated above, my next thought was "hmmm do I really want to get involved with someone who has that level of drama in their life"
My favourite excuse was after meeting me for the first time, the young lady suddenly remembered her grandmothers television needed retuning so had to go right away to do it.

unfortunately she didn't even know that she got automatic rights of her daughter once she split with her ex. She barely knows anything about her rights and his rights Imo Its not your concern at this stage......she is a stranger !!
i do wanna avoid the drama in life but so far for the past few months i've only had single young mothers interested in me Not all single mothers bring drama , there are some chaotic non parents out there that are just the same if not worse !!
I will not date newly separated women or women with unfinished business for this very reason. I am very single and very uncomplicated (debatable) and expect the same in return . People should clear their side of the fence as much as possible before even contemplating putting themselves on a dating site !!

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 2:25:55 AM | | looks like an excuse and bringing in a violent ex, is a hint to go away even if it is real, ask her why she not report him to the police ? | |
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 2:28:32 AM | Bit extreme! Erm why didn't she send you an email before you discovered her online? That's as good as one i heard years ago, i got arrested and stayed locked up from the friday till the monday!
If you're instinct is telling you it's a lie, then it probably is! Trust it completely! Some people are quite good at making themselves sincere. Although, sometimes it can be your past experiences that make you think she isn't telling the truth.
This woman however has unfinished business. Pick someone who is level headed, and has sorted these issues out with x's. I always give a wide birth to men with unfinished business!
The going 'cold' aspect, where no explanation and they disappear...hmmmm maybe the partner found out! lol

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 2:29:49 AM | How about when you dont even get an excuse!!! Even worse. Last week I chatted to a chap on IM who seemed to be just what I was looking for. We got on well and arranged to meet up this Wednesday. He told me that he was away for the weekend 'visiting his mother' which I totally believed, and that he would speak to me today. Now, surprise, surprise, his profile has been closed down!!! Married? In a relationship? Or just changed his mind? You decide!!!!
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv but Mac you said that last time!!! hehe

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 2:44:12 AM | Sorry I couldnt make it Wednesday Jan , I was on my way but dropped my guts whilst waiting in the bus queue and unfortunately followed through . I managed to get home and change my trousers but noticed the cat had a weepy eye and had to take it to the vets maybe we could make it another time ?
You free this weekend? Alas no unfortunately, I have these horrible creatures called "children" staying with me this week ................arghhhh why do people chose to have them and why do the female species of them sleep until gone 11 in the morning ????

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 3:24:34 AM | | You'll never know for sure whether it's a lie or not. The way I usually handle meeting with someone new is using the principals of baseball! 3 strikes and you're out! Cancel once and I'll accept what ever lame excuse you've come up with. Cancel twice and you're ticking me off. Third and final time... sorry love you aint that special! Find yourself a mug who'll put up with that crap while I go meet someone worth my time! | |
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 3:31:35 AM | | Agree with Mcforty who needs that drama life is hard enough, and it sounds like a whopping fib to me too. You hang in there for someone decent who wont muck you around. | |
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 3:44:47 AM | | soundslike an excuse but you never know! do u want to be worrying about her violent ex tho as they have a habbit being a pain in the ass | |
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 3:47:59 AM | Either she's lying and therefore best avoided or she's telling the truth and therefore best avoided.
Lies or drama? Now there's an easy choice - neither! Run while you can, OP!
|
| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 3:58:07 AM | People meet people every time they go out. Trouble is, meeting people off an internet dating site is another matter.
I wasn't aware that people are actually supposed to meet one another after pm'ing for months/years on the internet.
Get real!
As for women's excuses - who needs them? But many a book could be compiled about them.

| Excuses For Not Meeting... Posted: 7/7/2008 11:49:06 AM | People are mental. We're all looking for good ones. But we are all mental. The worst are those who deny their mentalness. Accept yours, and others, and find nice mentals.

Sound advice.
OP is the lady in question the same lady you admitted to boring to tears on MSN or is it a different lady?.Either way i would advise against making future arrangements just in case the mad ex tags along with a machete or something.
