'FREE entry and one initial free drink per Zanzibar attendee' have been negotiated on behalf of Plenty of Fish. All members and their guests are respectfully requested to enter the club by 10.15 pm.
An upstairs function room (with DJ) is ours between 9.30 pm and 2.00 am. As usual, the two additional clubrooms within the building are open to the general public.

The pub, situated just 200 yards from Zanzibar, is on the corner of London Road opposite the new Marks and Spencer stores. Head for the smaller segregated seating area to the extreme left of the bar, where event assistants will be there to greet you between 8.00 pm and 9.30 pm.
Over 18s only will be admitted and subject to appropriate ID if they are fortunate enough to look under the age of 21.

DRESS CODE: For those who fancy the more casual look, smart jeans and smart trainers are allowed. Many, however, may more wisely dress to impress. 
As usual, FANCY DRESS IS OPTIONAL and always encouraged. For this party, one prize of the same value is up for grabs in each of the male and female categories. Therefore, the two men and women judged independently as donning the best costumes on the night will each get to choose between one free bottle of Champagne or five free drinks vouchers courtesy of Zanzibar's manager. The decision of the judges will be final and the theme for this particular party is 'St TRINIANS' . So, the more adventurous among you can feel free to dress accordingly. The choice is entirely yours.
You can spend another Friday evening in alone or join us for what should prove to be another real friendly and fun party with a relaxed atmosphere and great music.
**SMOKING ARRANGEMENTS**
Smokers can go outside and re-enter the venue with no problem.
** GUEST INFORMATION **
POF members can bring as many non-member guests as they like to the party. So family, friends, etc are welcome.

Name Badges will be available for everyone. If you choose not to wear one, you may not be recognised either at the venue or if someone wants to contact you afterwards.

Open-air car parks near Zanzibar are on Liversage Street (approx 800 yards from the venue) and outside Matalan Stores (London Road, approx 100 yards).

Continuing the success of the Derby Zanzibar parties, welcome to this new thread promoting our latest one, due on Friday the 15th of August.
Naturally, we’ll receive all the usual token gestures we’ve now come to almost expect from the management team. This time, however, we’ll get to rub shoulders with the once-famous and popular members of the boy/man band 'East 17'.
I’m sure a few of you lady members will remember them very well. You might also be glad to know they are performing inside Zanzibar on the same night of this party, but not before they’ve all popped in to say hello to all us POFers!
And, should we wish to subject ourselves to their live stage performance around midnight, we’ll get to see that completely free of any charge whilst the general public pay a fiver each for the privilege.
Can’t be bad, eh?

I liked them in their heyday ,and loved the single they did with Gabrielle, and would love to see what they all look like now. Fingers crossed we are able to attend.   | |

Hi and thanks Rik,
I was notified about this unfortunate situation two days ago via private mail, after which I immediately sent a request to a moderator asking if the problem could be rectified.
Having logged on this morning to find my request remains unread, I've now mailed Admin (BigFish) with a back-up request in hope that something is done as soon as possible.
Accounting for the fact that the site was down for a considerable while yesterday, it's possible that a backlog of problems have arrived in Admin's and Moderators' inboxes.
Hopefully my mails will be read and a new signup button put in place before too long. At least I genuinely hope so, coz from a party promotional perspective, we're more than a bit stuck without one.

Pleased to note that the signup button has now returned, thanks to more than a little help from the powers that be. Let's now hope that it stays put until after the event at least. 
Note also that KLH123 has kindly offered her assistance during the course of the evening, hence the opening post has now been updated in the relevant section. I'm sure she'll arrive in good time at the pub to welcome newcomers and seasoned party specialists to the pre-meet drinking session before the main event at the club.
Come Friday the 15th of August, it looks like another good night in Derby could be on the cards for those lovely POF members and guests. Plus of course, there's a potential trip down Memory Lane for any East 17 fans who care to pop along to join in the fun.

Right the sign up button has appeared so there is no excuse for you party animals not to get your names down and bring all your friends with you.
Those who havent ventured out to one of the POF meets before rest assured we are such a friendly bunch that you wont be wall flowers for long cause we wont let you!!
I will be there to welcome any nervous newbies or anyone else who wishes to attend the traditional pre meet drinkies. And for the especially nervous who dont want to walk into the pub on their own send me a message and will happily meet you outside. I remember my first time!!
Lets get this sign up list growing with all those out there looking for new love, new friends and an all round good night out. Where else will you get a chance to exclusively meet E17 AND see the ladies in very short skirts and the guys in short trousers!!!! Fancy dress is completely optional but does give us a chance to have a good look at everyone's legs | |

I also went meets alone. and not only did i make loads of great friends. Groovy and I got together...so you never know who will be there waiting for you..

Posted: 7/25/2008 4:28:08 AM | Hi RobD. Although I've confirmed to you via private mail that Citizen Card is okay for ID purposes, I'm posting that information here for the benefit of anyone else who may find it useful.
**MASS MAIL PROBLEMS. FEEDBACK REQUIRED.**
Once again it seems problems are occurring with mass mailing through POF. Having written and clicked to send the latest Derby one last night, I awaited for confirmation that the process was completed. Unfortunately, however, a 'time-out' server error - accompanied with fault coding - occurred. 
Out of pure frustration and disappointment that mailing problems have resurfaced, I then clicked the back button to bring up the relevant page to try again. My second attempt soon brought up a message saying my server had encountered a problem and needed to close, apologising for any inconvenience caused. (Ahem) 
I then clicked the option to restore my session and noticed the mail had actually left my PC twice, although neither attempt was confirmed as successful at the time sent. The funny thing is, we're only supposed to be able to send out one mass mail per party, which has always been my experience of the process.
Whilst I sincerely apologise to members for any inconvenience caused by my having doubled up on the same mail, it did happened through error. 
Having said that, although some of you have clearly received both mails, I would still be interested to know how far-reaching they've travelled. I therefore kindly ask that as many potential attendees as possible send me private confirmation that they've received at least one copy of the mail.
Such feedback will assist in rectifying the ongoing problems disrupting the mass mailing process, without which hosts like me would seriously struggle to promote any events they organise.
