| Cyprus (east) or Turkey (Olu Deniz) Posted: 7/13/2008 1:08:06 PM | Hi all,
Right I'm going to be going on holiday by myself in September this year and am trying to figure out what would be a good place to go. So if anyone reading this has some good input, I'd be grateful. :)
Currently I am thinking about Olu Deniz in Turkey (Lykia resort) however am a bit concerned that it may be just families and oldies, which while I will talk to anyone I'd rather have the mix have a good proportion of single people or groups of people around my own age (31) which are not families or aforementioned oldies. I've also considered Cyprus (east, Ayia Napa etc) which may have a livelier mix of people but since I've never been to either I have no idea!
Don't get me wrong I'm not a party every night, different woman in the bed in the morning type guy (although we all live in hope ). I'm more of a sit by the pool or on the beach type guy and do the occasional activity as well as wanting to have a few fun nights/days out with other people.
Anyhow ta all!
PS: I am also looking for good accommodation, 4* or better, well if I'm going on my own I might as well treat myself! :D

Good luck, you will have a blast - I was in Istanbul for a couple days and it was awesome.

| Cyprus (east) or Turkey (Olu Deniz) Posted: 8/10/2008 7:07:26 PM | | I've been to Cyprus twice but many years ago for 6 months each time. (1984 & 1986) I've had friends from England go on vacation in Turkey and found it very inexpensive but as you said they found it wasn't the greatest place for singles. Ayia Napa on the other hand is a lot of young Scandanavians, at least in the 80's it was. It was an excellent place for a vacation in the 80's and I can only imagine that it got better with time. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. And if you really need a taste of Turkey just travel to the north side of the island and check out the Kyrenia Mountains or the town of Kyrenia. The Turkish side of Nicosia is also quite interesting. So if you go to Cyprus you could experience both. I imagine it will be a bit more costly for you though. | |
