It's so nice to see such a warm response to our armed forces.
My Marine son inlaw spent a year in Iraq fighting for our freedom.
I'm hoping to bring him and my daughter along to this labor day celebration.
He is truely a hero and the love of my daughters life...
God bless all who serve and those who love them,
You sound like a wonderful person and I felt the need to tell you that.

That being said, it's great views, tremendous bit of istory, and easy to get to by car or public transit. (R train to 95th, then walk 6 blocks to 101 st, left one block to gate, or BQE to 92nd st, right, lest at 1st light (Fort Hamilton Parkway) to end, left into base-- you will need to get a temporary base pass, will need license, registration, and proof of insurance. FYI, the registration and insurance MUST BOTH be in your name. So those of you who might be borrowing a friends/relatives car or have very bad credit and had someone else put their name in to get a better deal on a car, you will not be allowed to get a temp pass. I know this because I am ex military and know the rules governed on any military installation. Just like if I were to ride to this event, I would need a DOT approved helmet and a reflective vest to ride on the base itself. Also, to clarify, this is the only active military base in NYC, but not NY. There are many other bases that few know about. | |
