| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:18:12 PM | Hey guys,
I can understand if your profile photo is of you in front of your motorcycle, sportcar or boat -- but why would you post a photo of yourself in the living room of your sad little bachelor apartment?! Do you have any idea how not-appealing this is?

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:25:05 PM | | lol....you know, I want to be offended on behalf of all those who take pics of themselves sitting in their dumpy living room, but you make a good point. | |

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:32:30 PM | We think like guys.
When we see pictures of women, they could be hanging out in a garbage dump or a butcher shop for all we care. As long as she looks good, the backdrop means nothing. Why? We're looking at the WOMAN.
Although minus points for goofy "photobooth with friend" picture, and the not-so-common, "man with arm around her" shot. Even better when he's cut out and there's a mysterious hairy arm coming out from her neck.

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:36:35 PM | | well I've almost heard it all now. We get dissed for pics of us and our bikes/cars/ toys. We get dissed for our lack of pictures, now we are getting flack for our homes we live in. What next? As if you women are soooooo perfect!!! | |

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:37:59 PM | I don't usually bother with cameras, so my photo selection is pretty slim. Heck, I was at a concert in Seattle last week and I think my friend's girlfriend was the only one with us that had a camera. I'm going to China and Japan near the end of the summer, and I probably won't have any photo's of it. When I visit my family in Europe next year it will be the same story.
When I was still active on here most of my photos were taken via webcam in my apartment. If my apartment is unappealing to someone then they probably aren't the right person for me, because it is a good example of how I prefer to live.

It is one of the best ways to filter out women who are only after your wallet.
It is like when women post their photos, hardly any women post the hottest possible photo. Why waste time attracting guys who are only looking for hot bodies.

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:46:50 PM | You can tell by the living room that it is a sad little bachelor apartment?? Are you checking for hallways and such??
I'm a bit puzzled...are you taking any prescription medication?
Are you looking for a place to live dear? There are shelters for that.
Speaking of pics
The pic of you on the bike - please take it down - reminds me of Mrs Gulch - even has the carrier to put Toto in.
Your cover is blown.
Ok new rule - no more pics in the living room - add that to the list - no pics in the bedroom - no shirtless pics-no pics of houses - no pics of boat/motorcyle/car -no pics of other women - no pics talking on cell phone - no pics of kids - no pics of pets - no pics in sunglasses - no old pics - no pics hunting - no fishing pics - no muscle pics - I know I've seen more...

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/14/2008 11:50:54 PM | a man aint supposed to be proud of accomplishment?
I redid my dining room floor with tile from spain and italy. picked my tile and laid it wit my own two hands, and it looks great. im not allowed to be proud of that?
if a guy builds a car from scratch or works his ass off to buy a bike, is he not allowed to be proud of it?
You should realise that its not really about YOU. Maybe when a guy does put himself in a pic in his surroundings it because he's proud of it.
maybe you just dont dig a man who had pride and a feeling of accomplishment.

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 12:00:38 AM | I have one picture of me that was taken by a friend of mine while in my dining room on the way out to the symphony. Yes my dining room is drab but it was a decent picture of more full body shot rather than just close ups for change of pace.
I pick pictures that most accurately reflect me good bad or otherwise. I also don't want to appeal to the masses as I am not interested in average. If I wanted the masses around here I would mention that I own my home not an apartment. That will attract the masses of "gold diggers" at least! Oh wait I don't want them either, so scratch that!

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 12:03:59 AM | You really bring up a good point ... you really do and it reminds me to get some of the photos which my friend took of me when I was in Melbourne.
However, to reciprocate:
1) One of your photos is massively overexposed. 2) Nothing says sexy like a coffee cup right in front of the face. (Next time, shift the coffee cup down so it doesn't cover any of the face) 3) I should correct myself ... nothing says sexy like wearing a helmet in a photo. (??!!!) (Next time, put you helmet under one of your arms and stand in front of the 4-wheeler - then we understand that you like to do outdoor stuff and we can still see you ... and it is an attractive pose to many guys)
The others I thought were pretty good. Just offering help - we're all in this together.

edit: Oh, and I own my house as well, but I'll be the first to admit that it isn't the most expensive house in the US ...

Some women think the motorcycle shot is dumb. Some women think the car shot is dumb. Some women think the fishing shot is dumb. Some women think the bar shot is dumb. And now, I guess, some people think taking pics inside your own apartment is dumb.
Is there some sort of nether vortex that we need to visit to take our pictures? Or would there be a group of women that complain that the vortex is too dark??

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 12:11:30 AM | I may be in the minority here, but I kind of like the "sad little bachelor apartments" some guys live in. The ones with minimal furniture and nothing on the walls. I much prefer those to the ones who decorate their apartments like they are still teenagers with framed posters or stolen street signs on the walls.
I am pretty content in the idea that MOST men have no decorating sense and and MOST men have no desire to decorate. I'm totally okay with that. It just makes it easier for me to imagine forcing my decorating ideas on them in the event that the relationship should move on to that stage. And I'm REALLY okay with that as decorating happens to be one of my favorite things to do.

Maybe if we take a photo in each of these places, everyone will be happy. We should be able to upload 5 photos to the site. I know I'm guilty of it.

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 12:17:59 AM | | Maybe if I took all my self-photos in front of the ladies' shoe department it would distract the viewers from noticing my crappy taste in clothes? | |

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 12:27:06 AM | I agree, no more 'under the nostril' shots. It's so sad when people don't have camera tripods to take photographs at eye level, or their friends won't lend a hand to snap a pic, so POF members are forced to have strangers in coffee shops do the dirty deed.
It is indeed embarassing to turn blue with the cold of the sea and be photographed in such an awkward state. I suppose someone could flee by bicycle and be mostly out of the picture, but eventually, traffic cams will track you down, even if you wear face and head gear to conceal your identity and disobedient hairdo.
Perhaps each of us, somewhere in a little crayon box under the bed, has a photo from long ago...turned yellow with age...a day at a party back when we were carefree and didn't obsess over the decor of a stranger's apartment. Those were happier times.....until the cops shut down the meth lab.
...the apartment became so sad...
I hear people are happier in Mumbai....perhaps it's something to investigate?

I am pretty content in the idea that MOST men have no decorating sense you're on glue....... basically we don't give a rats arse if our towels match the walls in our bathrooms
It just makes it easier for me to imagine forcing my decorating ideas on them the day some chick tries to put some "frilly" crap in my house is the day she gets the boot. Do all you want in your house, stay away from mine

| Why a photo of you in your apartment?! Posted: 7/15/2008 4:10:38 AM | | Wait, OP. Are you telling me that if I just changed my pics to say, outdoor scenes, that would be the missing ingredient required for chemistry? Surely not. You're picking up pebbles when the real problem is the mountain. Be honest! If it was the right guy, the background pics of his apartment would not stop you. | |
