| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 9:27:44 AM | So...what do my fellow Missourians feel about the whole AB/Budweiser sell out??
The day this offer was sealed, I had read the previous day that it was NOT gonna happen...so I was pretty shocked. And the very same day I read this, I discovered Journey got a new lead singer...who sucks!
What is happening?! | |

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 10:14:50 AM | I have some concerns with AB being sold out. I have an immediate family who works there. The place employees a LOT of people who make a good salary and great beneifts. I don't even what to think what this might do to St. Louis's economy if they start laying these folks off to take that work aboard!!
I am from the old school... I believe in AMERICA and AMERICAN made but with the looks of things these days, that is a thing of the past.
To me and I am NOT a politician, but in my opinion our economy is in a state of shock. Makes me wonder what it is going to take to get things turned around once again. I feel so very sorry for the many families that have lost their homes do to this.
And to top this off, Journey has the nerve!!!!

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 11:35:59 AM | OKAY ladies.......
what happen to that POSITIVE attitude................
Everything has a reason for happening............... Change is inevitable....... and LIFE is GREAT........................ hate to break to you all........ WE are NOT in charge...............thank GOD........He will see us through it all!
Personally I think things do really LOOK BAD..but I refuse to sink below it all! I am going to stay positive and do the BEST I can , with my simple life that I live! Life is a BLESSING.................... Be happy and keep smiling! As far a JOURNEY and their NEW singer ...I heard the complete opposite! I heard he was GREAT...time will tell!

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 12:11:20 PM | Imma leaning towards Susie's reply...AB is an American Landmark, for pete's sake! And yes...the job issue...which the new owners are skirting questions about with some generic answer about how many they currently employ...boo hiss!
Re Journey and the new singer. Bought the CD...apparently they rushed to get it out with their current US tour...the live disk is "unfinished" and does not work! (I exchanged it already...apparently all are as such!) But the dude sounds like he has an asian accent and is trying tooooo hard to sound like the two Steve's (Perry and Augeri)...and all the ballads sound like SH1T! It actually brought tears to my daughter's and my eyes...we are die hard Journey fans...complete with their winged scarab inked on our backs!

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 12:54:58 PM | | I hate to say it over 4 months ago I started a thread SAVE AB .I gave out IMBEV'S phone number to thier costumer sevice line and their web site and the email adddress. And so many folks couldn't give a damn and had my thread delited.30 years ago I inheited 1000 shares of bud.And now its worth over 70.000 bills. But to be honest with you all back in 1995 bud had the chance to buy ANBEV witch is now INBEV and the board and the stock holders turn down the chance to buy inbev and now It turned around and BIT bud in the back side so in a way I don't feel so bad about it. | |
|
| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 1:02:34 PM | Well, pooh on those folks who deleted it, Alpine! I never saw it!
I know it is just one small aspect of things...but I am concerned with the historical aspect of things, as well...Grants Farm and the AB museum...will this company continue to financially support them?!
My family has a history with such...my Great Grandparents were caretakers at GF, and my Grandfather grew up on such...their names are listed in the museum...and it just saddens me that this could all go to pot!

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 1:05:08 PM | And I do feel sorry about all the people that might lose thier jobs over it too.I'm in the same boat with the airline fuel cost.I'm with in 1.00$ a gallon more of lossing my job too. | |
|
| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 1:39:10 PM | | What really pisses me off is when you see a "Support America" ribbon magnet or bumper sticker on a foreign automobile! I bought a 2000 Ford F150 4x4 that was not only made in the USA but here in Kansas City (and I have 180,000 miles on it so far). I support my country & my hometown! I try to buy American made products as much as I can. It's a shame that "America's premium lager" is now owned by a foreign corporation! | |
|
| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 5:19:31 PM | What about all the charities that AB have been supporting? Ugh. Once they start shipping stuff abroad, & killing Grant's farm & such, I think the American folks will be swiftly switching the type of brew they drink. I know I will.

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 7:18:43 PM | i know this is a huge hit to our stl friends and to our feloow americans.
sheeeeeeeeeet they are not the first to die this type of death and will not be our last.
business had a time when they respected their employees (yes i know there were those that didnt too ) how about let's get back to businesses making a living, NOT a killing. jmho

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/18/2008 11:17:27 PM | I also work for a HUGE corporation which was bought out but they kept the company name of who I work for. It is a tough thing to go thru all of the changes let alone have that sitting in the back of ones mind, will I have a job to go to next week? I also have concerns about pensions. Man oh man.
Like Jeannie said, change is going to happen... one thing for certain, things are going to change... HOWEVER, change is NOT always good. Yes, I believe we have a God that knows what is best for us but He didn't promise us a bed of roses either. He told us there is going to be tough times!!! Personally I have had enough and seen enough tough times to last thru the next 5 generations. I am not sitting her crying or being on the pity pot it is just a fact.
I hear so many people complaining about things... yes things. I see many emails fly around the internet but what is really being done to put the pressure on our government to take a positive stand and make some positive changes to get this country back on track?
Trust me. They would NOT want me to be president. I am a stickler when it comes to NO free rides. I feel there is something out there for everyone to do to help make this country be all that it can be.
Ok...like Byte said, I will quit and go to my corner.. or is that Byte's corner??

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/19/2008 4:39:55 AM | uh oOooOOooooh, you called him BYTE teeheeheeheee | |

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/19/2008 9:05:33 PM | | i'm not exactly a missourian i'm a virginian ..... you know the only thing worst than a texan on texas is a virginian on virginia...enough on that i'v always heard when it comes to stocks buy what you like and i loved michelobe ultra amber and Busch Gardens Williamsburg so i owned NYS: BUD i made a nice chunk of change but you know its funny i would have loved to see it remained american even with out the over 40% jump in the stock price. I dont think imbev will even keep the parks. my son and i are season pass holders and bud ran a class act here in virginia. well i sold my bud and bought fortune brands NYS: FO they own jim beam which i read is becoming more popular with young americans wanting to experience what their grandad experienced. Plus the europeans have aquired a tast for burbon (it inexpensive over there due to fallin dollar) so missourian you might buy fortune brands and have a shot of jim beam. both beam and jack daniels have multimillion dollar expansions. so lets not shead a tear in our beer but take a sip a jim and keep on keeping on. | |

| AB Sold! Posted: 7/20/2008 12:46:31 AM | hey there Will, I can appreciate what you have to say about stock.. HOWEVER please realize AB empolys a LOT of people in MO/StL....it is not just about the stock and what to buy... it is having a job so that they can put roof over their head let alone buy stock.
We really need to look at the big picture here for St.L and in my humble opinion, looks like we are headed for some really tough times.
ps cute little fellow on your profile with you!
|
| AB Sold! Posted: 7/20/2008 7:33:26 AM | Yeah, it is nearly impossible to TRULY buy ALL American...ao many things marked as American Made, have pieces and such from foreign countries! And honestly...if someone is going to be pro "Buy American" then they need to do it 100%.
While I am concerned about the jobs and such...I guess my biggest woe is the historical aspect of things...it just saddens me so...and like the poster said, pretty fvcked up when the worlds largest American beer is now...foreign owned.
