Posted: 7/20/2008 10:42:33 AM | New to POF in the last week. It has been interesting to say the least.....
I posted a picture, with much reservation. Why the reservation? ....because I must profess to being a little scared of some of the folks out there in Cyberland. But it is the honest thing to do.
Please tell me what you think of the profile. You can offer suggestions or criticisms if you like. What I really hope to get from this post is to understand if what I am trying to say is getting across. Does that make sense?

Posted: 7/20/2008 11:45:42 AM | Get some more, and varied pics. You are allowed eight, so get some in different clothes, different backgrounds. You say you are outdoorsy, so why don't you get some pics of you doing fun things? If you posted one, post others. When people post one picture, it sends out red flags, because it may or may not look like you. In different pictures, with a variety of settings, a person can see that you really are what you look like. As it stands, the one you have posted may be the only good picture that's ever been taken of you in your entire life, that doesn't even look like you.
Also, are you a dog trainer or a fitness trainer? It's kind of ambiguous, so you may want to specify this in your profession. Your headline falls flat, as well. Can you think of something that is not done to death, that is more witty, and reflective of your personality and life? It is one of the first things people see when you come up in a search, so make it count.
Get rid of the "I'll send you on your merry way" paragraph, it doesn't sound good. It only serves to alienate potentials.
I'm not sure how the last paragraph works either. It also doesn't read well, in my opinion. It makes you sound a little haughty. Rethink it.
Other than that, it's okay. But lose the negativity, and the attempt at humor. It doesn't read funny. Did you read the writing tips thread? You may get some good ideas there. Also, browse some other womens' profiles, even some mens. Find good ones, the forums are a good place to do that. Get some ideas, and tweak yours.

Okay - I asked for your opinion. I will see what kind of new pictures that I can come up with. I will try to be more positive...and still be myself.
It was not an attempt at humor BTW, that is my sense of humor....

You should get new Photos dressed as a woman of course because that is what you are. Yes drop that part me dressed as a woman. Is that man about to kiss you? Guys do not like seeing other men with a woman in pic's. I know if I see another man in a photo huging or kissing it is time to move on. Exception if it is a family member. Do not be afraid of cyber land as you put it. Put on some makeup fix the hair, and get some modern outfits go conquer the world! Everyone deserves to be happy. Show excitment in your words. Watch Brooks & Dunn - My Heart Is Lost To You on YouTube or any where online the video it will spice you up romantically. | |

I like my hair...sorry if you don't. When I dress up, I do wear make-up but not most other times. Call me a radical or unconventional but golly gee, guess I just wanta be me not what all those marketing and advertising agencies want me to be. All those clothes are newer cause I got back into shape in the last 18 months.
I realize that you are a city guy and much younger than I....but never mind.... Perhaps I should up crawl under a rock some place

I'm sure you will have some luck with this profile, and if you feel you aren't just change it up a bit. Many people will rotate their pictures, too, because someone is likely to click on a profile that has a new pic, even if they've seen your profile before. Sneaky, but effective.

1) You say, "However, I will never be a loud, don't give a D@#$ attitude, party maniac nor do I wish to be." Don't give a D@#$? Is that "damn"? If you don't care to say it, maybe change it to "a don't care" attitude.
2) "We can keep each other motivated and on the straight and narrow (until it is time to be BAD....LOL...)" I'd take out the "BAD" part and the "LOL." In fact, take out all LOLs and hee hee's. It's clear you're joking, and if it isn't to someone, then you probably won't enjoy their company, anyway. | |
