the wrong type of bra, researchers said today.
The breast biomechanics research team at the University of Portsmouth
said that ignorance or embarrassment could be leading women to choose the
wrong type of support.
The researchers from the Hampshire university’s Department of Sports Science
said that wearing the wrong type of bra could lead to fragile ligaments becoming
stretched.
The research team has tested about 50 bra designs on hundreds of women
during the past three years under the leadership of Dr Joanna Scurr.
Wendy Hedger, a researcher on Dr Scurr’s team, said: “Many women
have strong preferences for certain styles of bra and won’t buy anything else.
“Many other women are unaware that they are wearing a badly-fitting bra
or unknowingly wear the wrong bra size because they are routinely being
sold ill-fitting bras.
“Some women forget that their shape and size change and they might have
to go through several changes in bra size over their lifetime, especially
after breastfeeding and the menopause.”
So ladies are you damaging your boobs by wearing the wrong bra without knowing?

Apparently alot of women dont go get measured often enough,and wear the wrong size,which is silly considering it doesnt take to long to get measured .
I havnt noticed any strains from most my bra's i will keep you posted hams i know how you like the boob talk | |

Posted: 7/25/2008 5:03:52 PM | its already understood that without the correct support larger sized girls will receive stretch marks at the top of the breast but no damage to the actuall purpose they are intended for.
The damage occurs with uplifted bras and underwired bras that restrict blood flow as well as cause nerve damage to the underneath- wonder bras also need to be carefully selected so as they are not too snug a fit and all women should really have abra professionally fitted every couple of years so that they know their true size and not what they think fits.
you may be thinking this chap knows far too much about this subject but an ex girlfriend of quite generous proportions worked in a lingerie department of quite an expensive store where I live.
Funny thing was i never complained when she brought her work home with her! | |

Well..... yes I was til I read that bit....
It's not just about the bra, it's in the genes as well..... having compared boobs with female friends and some family (ie didnt want to compare boobs with mother...), none of us could agree what factor made our boobs better or worse than another. One says my boobs are great because I have always worn a bra - another says well I did too but mine not so good.... one says mine are oh-oh because I breast fed my child - another says I breast fed both my children and wowee wowee look at mine.... There's no rhyme or reason.... | |

Posted: 7/26/2008 2:01:04 AM | Nothing wrong with my boobs. When I sit on the loo naked they nice and neatly fall onto my lap and keep my knees warm.....so no problem with stretched tendons here!
Seriously, I had to take my daughter for bra fitting recently as she was obviously spilling out of hers. She had gone up three cup sizes! Mine have also changed shape and size dramatically over the years. I do get them measured about once a year and get new bras accordingly, the rest of the year I just buy what fits and feels comfortable. | |
