| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 11:34:09 AM | | I am having 70 people to a surprise birthday party. I need 1 more great appetizer that is fairly easy because I only have a couple of hours to prepare for the guests. I already have hummus & Pita, Tabbouleh and a salad. If you have any idea about something that is fairly simple and tastes great PLEASE let me know. | |

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 11:59:17 AM | That recipe has been in my family for decades Deena, except we use it as a chip dip.
1pkg of cream cheese 1 jar of sliced green olives little bit of milk to thin it out a few dashes of garlic powder to taste
Always a huge hit and tried and true
Here's another one that makes 80 appetizers 1 large pkg of Budwig Beef slices (the 40 serving size pkg) 2 pkgs of cream cheese 1 small jar of sweet pickle relish
Mix cream cheese and pickle relish together. Using back of a spoon, spread some in the middle of the meat. Roll and cut in half. continue with rest of pkg. Always popular

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 12:11:11 PM | This one is yummy & quick & affordable. All's u need r 3 thing's plus toothpick's. 1. cream cheese 2. long green onions/chives 3. sandwhich meat: ham,turkey,chicken which ever u prefer
spread cream cheese thinly covering the slice of meat, then place a stalk of chive at one end and roll it closed. the cream cheese helps hold it together, then slice the roll into individual bite sizes & use toothpick to keep each roll closed & also for guest to be able to pick up each appetizer. these are very easy to make & so good, & healthy. good luck with ur party. have a great one, Antoinette

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 12:31:42 PM | For easy and large quantity there's always the meatball standby... get a large bag of pre-cooked meatballs (meat or veggie version, both work fine), a couple of jars of decent red sauce, throw 'em in a crockpot and forget about them. Serve with small rolls and parmesan cheese on side.
Yeah, not real fancy, but everyone seems to eat 'em up and it doesn't get much easier than this!

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 1:10:17 PM | | I have a goats cheese appetizer that is easy as 1, 2, 3. You buy a log of goats cheese (not the herb covered, just plain) pour honey over top (as much as you want and sprinkle with nuts (I use cashews, but you can use others as well. You don't have to cut mash or other mix the log...you leave it whole and then the guests just cut off pieces to spread on small slices of french bread that you place around it. It's a very classy appetizer with almost no work involved. The only work I did was chopping the nuts (and you can usually buy them chopped already)> and slicing bread. The first time I made this, people seemed impressed even though it's a simple recipe. I think it's the sharpness of the goats cheese, the sweetness of the honey and the saltiness of the nuts. | |

Spread cream cheese onto a wrap (spinach, carrot, whole wheat wraps, whatever you like)
Put smoked salmon on top and then roll the wrap and contents into a log
Slice the log into segments
It's fast, looks good, and tastes great; Substitute any filling.

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 2:31:47 PM | Esay but sort of labor intensive - do you have people to help?
Stuffed pea pods
Sugar snap peas - slice open and take out the peas - then pipe in the dip/spread of your choice, and then nestle the peas back in. Chill overnight or at least 3 hrs.
They're super cute and so yummy... but like I said - easy, but you have to sit there and futz with the peas.

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 2:39:15 PM | Turkey “Ham” Salad
1 2-3 lb cooked Turkey Ham (Jenni-O or other variety) Miracle Whip Salad Dressing (no mayo, nor Miracle Whip Lite) Dill Pickle Relish
1. Cut the rind off the Turkey Ham and Cut into cubes. Grate in a food processor (for chunky consistency) or run through a food grinder (for pate consistency)
2. Blend in Miracle Whip to the desired moistness. For 2-3 lbs of Turkey Ham, I like to start with ¾ cup of Miracle Whip and add ¼ cup at a time until the salad is as moist as I like.
3. Add 1 tsp Dill Relish to the Mixture and blend thoroughly. Taste the salad before adding additional relish, repeat adding 1 tsp at a time. STOP adding Relish to the salad when it tastes like “just 1 more teaspoon of relish.”
4. Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 2 hours before serving.
Serve with crackers, bread or use the salad to stuff fresh tomatoes.
This Salad will keep 3 – 4 days refrigerated, so it’s a great make-ahead dish

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 9:04:08 PM | some of the above sound good....but the simplest thing i know is boiled franks.
get several packages of****ail franks or li'l smokies; for 70 people, you probably need 4 packages. minimum.
boil water add franks cook for 5 or 10 min on simmer remove to serving platter in center of platter, arrange dipping sauces (eg, stone-ground mustard, salsa, ketchup, bbq sauce, whatever) provide lots of toothpicks
so simple...my extended family loves 'em with just brown mustard for dipping.
if you like the idea of li'l franks, there are many recipes "googlable", which involve crockpots, grape jelly, bbq sauce, etc. not vouching for them, just mentioning they're there.

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/17/2008 10:06:40 PM | Cocktail Wieners (Depends on whether you buy at Costco or regular food store) Homemade Chili Sauce (Brand Name) in the round, small jars Jalapeno Pepper Jelly (Knott's Berry Farm brand is the best) but any will do. Large crock pot
For this size crowd depends on your budget. One jar of jalapeno pepper jelly to two jars of chili sauce. It is up to you if you heat the****ail wieners first. Mix as above...just that simple.

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/19/2008 12:45:39 PM | Aha! Coastergal beat me to it on the Brie in Puff Pastry, It is easy and looks nice when you present it…
The only thing different I do is use Major Gray’s mango chutney instead of the apricot preserves. Its sweet but has the addition of some spice that compliments very nicely with the brie. Really good with a crisp pinot gris or pinot grigio wine.
Quick Humus 1 16 oz can garbanzo beans drained 2 cloves garlic Juice of one lemon 2 Tbspn extra virgin olive oil and a little extra to drizzle Approx ½ tsp salt 1 ½ Tbspn tahini *this can be omitted if you do not have it
In food processor, pulse the garlic till fine, add garbanzo beans, tahini *, lemon juice, salt and olive oil. Process till you have a nice spreadable consistency. I don’t like to over process my humus as it can get sticky, I want it to spread not stick. Pour mixture in a bowl, make a little well in the middle, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of cumin. Serve with sliced French baguette bread.
Tapenade 1-16oz of pitted black olives 10-15 green olives or kalamata olives (basically whatever olives I have on hand) 2 cloves garlic 1-2 sundried tomatoes *optional 2-4 Tbspn Olive oil 1 Tbspn capers 1 anchovy filet *optional
Process the whole lot together in a food processor until you have all well combined into a spread. Serve with sliced French baguette bread.

| HELP! I need an easy Appetizer! Posted: 8/19/2008 1:17:58 PM | ^^ take the salsa covered cream cheese and stick in the oven. Make sure you put it in an oven to table dish. Doesn't really matter how long, you could just warm it up... but I usually go an hour at 350 to get it really gooey. oh man... is that gooooooooood. It would be a great counter foil to the hummus and stuff you are already serving. | |
