"Why do the troops hate the troops?"

Honestly, after years of hearing that if you don't support the Bush military policy, you don't support the troops, you have to wonder what the neo-cons will do now. Today, a study by the Center for Responsive Politics reported that members of the military are giving more donations to Senator Obama than Senator McCain, and when you just examine those troops who are deployed, Obama attracts more donations by a 6 to 1 factor.

Troops, of course, aren't much different than most Americans, who overwhelmingly oppose the Bush military policy that John McCain would continue (the latest AP-Ipsos poll had 62 percent disapproving of the Bush policy). It's just that troops have a lot more personal experience on this particular issue. We know that those who served believe Iraq has overstreched the military, and for years that those who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan are solidly against the current policy.

Now, members of the military are speaking with their checkbooks, and reiterating just how strongly they believe we need to begin to redeploy from Iraq, and go on the offense against al Qaeda, which is making huge gains in Afghanistan.

And, yes, things are getting much worse in Afghanistan. The New York Times reports today, from Saydebad:

Proves my point that judgment is far more important than experience if that "experience" leads people down the wrong path. McCain's standing on his military experience is just not enough.

I read a news article on this a few days ago and I was wondering how many of the right would spin it since historically they have tried to claim that the vast majority of the military supports republicans. The military is just a reflection of the general population, with all the good and bad that goes along with it (no matter how much some wish to dispute that fact).

When the majority of the country grows tired of the current government, generally speaking the military grows tired as well. I was in during much of Clinton's term and I knew many people who supported him, even with his draft dodging background.

i think the boys in iraq/afgan are tired of this war and want to come home.. obama is in favor of a responsible withdrawl of troops, mccain will send more troops until the area is stable... sorry, but the area will NEVER be stable. best we can hope for now is a slow with drawl that will not cripple the good that has come to the iraqi people.

i support our troops 100%, but its time for them to come home.

YOUR INSANE IF YOU THINK THE MILITARY SUPPORTS DEMOCRATS LOL. Have you even elisted? If so then you know that they hate them. Why would the military like a president that takes there jobs away? Clinton neutered the army and Bush rebuilt it. Obama will cut the military and McCain wants 150,000 troops added. enough said

No, not enough said, because you obviously have no clue about the military. It isn't even REMOTELY close to 100% republican.

At MOST, it is a 55/45 split.

Right now, the MONEY coming in is 6/1 in FAVOR of OBAMA!

This isn't an OPINION, like yours, it is a DOCUMENTED FACT!

How dense are you spinners? This is NOT based on a poll, it is based on documented campaign contributions. Do we have to stop using big words or something?

Can I quote you on this the next time McCain claims he is for ending the war?

I think this article you're citing, Blues, is a bunch of liberal nonsense. Your source is profoundly liberal and known for its bias. Try again.

Wikipedia says:

The Huffington Post (often referred to on the Internet as HuffPo) is a liberal news website and aggregated weblog founded by Arianna Huffington and Kenneth Lerer, featuring various news sources and columnists. So try to learn in liking the American military, for some vote Democrat and some end up in politics as Democrats. No more trashing, hating, spitting, comparing them to evil, frowning, Okay? Try to remember, always, the rest of your life that not all in the Armed Forces are Republicans.

while it is clear that obama is squashing mccain in regards to campaign contributions from troops, it is an illogical conclusion that 6 to 1 in cash mean 6 to 1 troops support obama.

you cant just transfer figures from dollars to soldiers like that.

I'm a bratMy family has served in uniformed for generations I did not but my brother, brother in law(Air Force and Army) nephews (Army)friends have and are. My dad(Air Force), his dad (army air core)and his dad (Calvery)also my mom's dad (Navy) served. No one outside of myself has ever voted for a republican and I only voted for Bush because Gore was too far left for me and I did not like Kerry's policy for a few things more then Bush's.

My family will all vote for Obama. Paul would get my vote if Obama dropped out McCain is an excellent left hand guy but not a point man.

Oh yes. I'm sure you view anything that isn't on some ultra right wing site as "liberal bias". What else is new. That same quoted story is all over the place.

Lol its only right there in writing before thier eyes and they still say its BS.

It's called denial. Quite frankly, the right wing is altogether BS. But here's another source for the same story. Read it and weep.

http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/08/troops-deployed-abroad-give-61.html

According to an analysis of campaign contributions by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul.

Here's another. Same story. Same facts:

http://www.theloomisnews.com/detail/90956.html

Apparently our troops don't think much of McCain's experience or ideas for security.

Honestly, after years of hearing that if you don't support the Bush military policy, you don't support the troops, you have to wonder what the neo-cons will do now. Today, the Center for Responsive Politics reported that members of the military are giving more donations to Senator Obama than Senator McCain, and when you just examine those troops who are deployed, Obama attracts more donations by a 6 to 1 factor.

I know you guys see the handwriting on the wall and insist it's a forgery but, then again, you're garnered zero credibility. Nothing new there though.

Would you folks like MORE links to the same story? Oh probably

i would just go with the opensecrets.org link since it is the reputable source. the rest are indeed opinionated and biased assessments of that article, given that they all reference it, but to call the source link 'liberal nonesense' would be blatantly silly.
