| Olympic sports Posted: 8/18/2008 9:36:20 AM | I really enjoyed watching the mens swimming this year. Those men have beautiful bodies. Yummm-o! lol I also like to watch the gymnastics and anything that has Canadians winning a darn medal! | |

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/18/2008 10:11:41 AM | I don't think swimming or any Olympic sport is cheap. Swimmers need coaches and pool time. They also need money to travel. Young swimmers who train a lot may need tutors. Young athletes also need physios and sports medicine doctors. The worse thing that can happen to a young athlete is an injury.
I like watching the running. I enjoyed watching Michael Phelps - the World's new golden boy. I also like watching track and field. I found the end part of the womens marathon interesting.

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/18/2008 1:04:21 PM | I would imagine that all of the sports are pretty expensive, with all of the high tech diets they eat, special training, travel, etc.... I would have to think that most of the track and field events would be the cheapest overall, as most other events require time in a training facility, or expensive equipment.
As for a favourite, mens Hockey.

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/18/2008 3:48:26 PM | We ordered the Bold station on our satelite so we could enjoy watching the Equestrian events this week. As I type, I can here my daughter getting all excited downstairs apparently cheering someone on!
Its great to watch our Canadian hopefuls. A couple of our riders in the jumping events are getting on in age and we may not seem them in future Olympics. Definetely worth the watch.
When I think of cost, you bet there is a huge financial cost for the Equestrian competitors. Just the cost of shipping your horse over there must be phenominal. I have shipped my horses to MB and back and that was close to 5 grand for two. Never mind the costs to ensure you have good quality Vet care while you are there for the just in case something happens to your horse. Last night one of the riders I think from either Norway or Sweden went down at the end of the triple jump with his horse. Although the horse was able to get back up, it looked as though he pulled a few muscles going down. Wonder what the Vet bill for that is going to be and how long his horse will be off. When a rider's horse goes off, that's big money sitting there doing nothing but healing. Gotta feel for both the rider and horse in a case like this.

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/18/2008 4:26:02 PM | | I enjoy watching any true competition, Olympic or otherwise. And everyone of the Olympic sports "costs" something, either time, money or whatever. If you want to know why Canada has only 9 medals so far, do some research on what Canadian "amateur" athletes are given(or should I say,not given) for their training and their readiness of the Games. It's amazing they have the 9 so far. | |

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/22/2008 10:04:32 AM | Congrats Eric Lamaze(sp) for winning gold in individual show jumping!!Go hayburners!!LOL Seriously, congrats to all the athletes!!!!Good example for the younger generations too!! | |

| Olympic sports Posted: 8/22/2008 11:39:43 AM | Eric Lamaze won gold? Wow, that is excellent. Our show jumpers are definitely getting the recognition they have worked so hard for. I only wish Big Ben had of gotten olympic medals.
I'd say the equestrians are the most expensive, they have to pay for trainers, vets, food, transport for the horses, but also the human part of the team has to pay for all their support too. And those horses cost an obscene fortune to purchase. I am torn because while I enjoy watching the sport, all the money involved in it makes my head spin.

| Olympic sports Posted: 11/2/2009 11:03:21 AM | Wow Olymic subject again!lol Well I love a GOOD hockey game for a winter sport! My favorite winter sport though is keeping cozy with my man and lots of chocolate!! | |

| Olympic sports Posted: 11/2/2009 5:41:33 PM | | I like figure skating --- the couples competition. I find the luge interesting but you really cannot beat figure skating. It parallels to gymnastics in the summer games. | |
