ya pretty much what dave said...
as for somewhat more specific shoulder work......standard DB or BB shoulder presses, arnold presses (very effective, must keep proper form), heavy upright rows, clean and press

What dave said.

Description and animation of most shoulder exercises can be found here:http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/ShouldWt.html

Some of the others that dave mentioned can be found here:
http://www.exrx.net/Lists/PowerExercises.html

For the latter in particular, good idea to find someone who knows what they are doing to supervise and instruct first time you try some of them. Power exercises can go all sorts of bad if you do it wrong, start light and get your form correct before pushing for heavier weights.

Expect people to stop and watch in most gyms too if you start pulling out even cleans, let alone clean and press or clean and jerk. Good for the shoulders though.

Just stick with side lateral raises. No one looks at someone from the side and says they have big shoulders, no one cares how big your rear delts are...if anything your shoulders will look weird outside the bodybuilding world if you have huge front/rear delts. Small front/rear delts with only working side laterals will make you look even wider.
Just like if you want to make it look like you have a bigger chest don't do anything thats not on an incline. Huge upper pec developement with lower pec developement lacking looks way better than some huge barrel bench press chest.

Do swimming for your cardio in addition to a balanced strength training routine.

I dont know about the DL but the other three are good. I would put heavy shrugs in place of the DL

Boxing/Hitting a Heavy Bag - Try it for a 3 minute round.. ouch.

Also, jump rope using a weighted rope.

Both clearly endurance related activities. As strength is a function of muscle cross section, ie size, and he is after size, it would follow that strength activities rather than endurance would be the best approach. As we all know that compound movements with heavy weights are the best for strength gains, it would follow that high weight low rep compound movements with shoulder involvement would be ideal.

Perhaps this is why myself and others already recommended such activities as opposed to endurance activities.

all that side lateral and only incline stuff sounds absolutely ridiculous to me, then again it depends on your goals.
i just see no point in leaving out any, ANY muscle in your entire body. but thats me, bodybuilding viewpoint
(i think your shoulders would look really stupid with weak front/rear delts? again, just me) cant have a cannonball with only working the medial head...lol

I totally agree sportsbikes - if you are going to do shoulders do them right that means hitting front and rear delts too. A good pair of shoulders looks great no matter what your goals are. When i do shoulders this it how it usually goes:

Over head presses (4-6 sets)
Rear Delts (4 sets)
Upright rows & Lat Raises (superset) 3 sets
Front Raises 3 sets
Shrugs 3-4 sets
And if there is anything left in the tank i will do 2-3 more sets of some type of over head press usually Arnolds.

for sure man...thats kinda how mine goes too...a couple press type movements, then raise-types for the front/middle/rear, and shrugs/upright rows somewhere in there too

Good advice overall.

Hitting the heavy bag will make your muscles grow though. It is a little different than just doing an endurance exercise like jogging.

You have to hit it hard.

As for resistance exercise I will add double or single kettlebell snatch, clean to a push press and the overhead squat.

yay

Im pretty Old Skool with my approach to training, basic heavy exercises will do the trick. Lots of bench presses, Pullups (bigger lats will help make your overall V taper better, Bent over rows (these really hit the posterior deltoids), Military press and Upright rows. With a consistent program and good nutrition, anyone can increase their shoulders, but it takes time and commitment, good luck.

Plenty of good advice as usual (?) so I'll refrain from the obvious:

Looking at it from another angle.....time to get smaller...

Yes the smaller you can make your midsection look by reducing bodyfat which is present there the wider your shoulders will look. This is particularly true when wearing close fitting clothing, or better still topless. Also an exercise like the vacuum (google it) will make your midsection look smaller (in adition to regular abs excercises).

In short you will be chasing that classic V-taper. Just a small point but not one to overlook.

I agree with sportbike4life....

Good'ol db presses...and even hammer strength presses will get that nice, full, round look.

I live by those...and for a Figure competitor..shoulders are probably one of the biggest factors to our physique.

Have fun looking like a disproportionate douchebag and making yourself more prone to injury for not working on antagonistic muscles. It's like guys that work only their upper bodies, with a routine that consists of mainly just benching, curling, and maybe some ab work thrown in here and there.

All you need is dumbell presses and military presses. Dumbell side laterals and cable side laterals. Bent-over laterals and real delt machine. I am just throwing out ideas.

I usually go dumbell presses (alternate: military presses every other week), dumbell side laterals, cable side laterals, bent-over laterals or real delt machine. For bent-over lateral or real delt machine, I'd like to super set it ( (TILL FAILURE) with barbell rows or t-bar rows or seated rows ... basically any row movement. I find it after I do bent-over lateral to failure then do some sort of row movement, my rear delt are working hard.

i read its reccomended to work your shoulders and back in the same workout session becasue back exercises involve the shoulders muscles and vice versa and therefore you can train and rest both muscle groups together

anyone else think is a good idea

Chest involve shoulders too, big part of bench press. Would I do both on same day? NO. You don't want to risk injury. Chest and back are ok but chest or back and shoulder naa. I like going heavy so I would get injured easily if I do them together.

No... it is not a good idea.

The shoulder has a whole range of different movements. Some are isolated, many are syngeristic with back movements or chest movements. Plenty are part of compound movements. Saying that the shoulder and back 'involve' each other and leaving it at that is flawed.
