| Rest in peace Colin the baby Hump Back Whale Posted: 8/21/2008 6:38:52 PM | I am feeling very sad to-day,as poor Colin the baby Hump Back Whale had to be put to sleep. My question is was there enough effort into trying to keep him alive? I wonder if his mother lost him or left him, we will never know. Anyway poor darling is not suffering any more, I have also just read he was also attacked by sharks. R.I.P. Colin..........Nina | |

| Rest in peace Colin the baby Hump Back Whale Posted: 8/22/2008 1:04:09 AM | I remember seeing something about Colin on the news. I didn't know they put him to sleep. I don't know enough about what was being done for him to really make a judgement. The last I heard about it, they were letting him follow a boat he thought was his mother. I wondered then why they couldn't move him to a Sea World, at least to feed him until the mother whale could be found or a substitute could have been arranged.
This is very sad indeed.

I heard that they could not feed him as he was still nursing. (it is not like finding a baby bird you can feed with an eye dropper) Then it was discovered that he was wounded. Wounded and no way to feed him, they did what they thought was human and stopped his suffering. | |
