is going to go down on October 4th. I see Kimbo taking this one, if this were 10 years ago, I'd probably give the nod to Shamrock.

Too bad they're not putting him in with Frank. Frank's a lot smaller, but he'd actually do more than take a nap the first time Kimbo touches him on the chin. Ken is beyond washed up at this point. Kimbo should end this one quickly.

Agreed, I have no idea how Elite can be considering Kimbo as their 'poster boy'??

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

Right now, Kimbo is the face of the company. Yes, he's not fighting legit heavyweight contenders. Yes, he's been protected. Yes, his record is being built up slowly. Yes, he will probably KO Ken Shamrock, but you know what? It will probably be the most watched MMA fight to date.

Like him or not, Kimbo is a big name, and he's just doing what he has to do to further himself. He didn't ASK to be thrust into this position, but he is EliteXC's cash cow. That's why they're not throwing him to the wolves. He does nobody any good if he loses.

For the record, I hope he does get beat, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's very charismatic, and for all the people bashing his "former life" on other forums and in the news, he comes off as a pretty good guy. He will never be a contender or a top 10 heavyweight, but he brings a lot of fans to the sport, and that's all I really want.

Max? wtf......are we talking about Kimbo Slice the bearded street brawler?

If we are then to call him a big name is past borderline insanity...I've only seen this bum fight once to know he's a joke with absolutely no cardio....

AS for the fans this bum brings to MMA , I'd just as soon they stay away...their the idiots in the audience's screaming and booing when a fight goes to the ground cause they all have the same street fight mentality...

Even someone as washed up as Ken Shamrock will defeat the bum....(bum being a huge understatement) MMA does not need this type of fighter or the type of fans they would bring...

And you wonder why the vast majority of MMA fans and Professional MMA fighters think Elite is a joke. This is the reason. Further more Elite have had a history of being accused of having dive matches. The Latest one that's been widely accused of being a dive Kimbo vs. Tank, there is still a lot of controversy with this match, when you analyze the last moments of this match. I don’t know I haven’t looked at well enough but I known many that have frame by frame at the end and they all included it looks like Tank took a dive. Remember Tank did wrestle for a short time WCW so he would know how to pull off a dive to make it look real good. This is all the MMA sport needs, is to be accused of dives in their sport because of one controversial MMA company.

A bum?? He admittedly says he is a beginner. And working for the past year or so every day with Bas hardly makes one a bum. He doesn't care to be the poster boy but why not when he gets paid huge bucks and brought more people to watch his fight than any other.
YOu'd last 10 seconds.

I will name 5 ufc fighters (top of head) that kimbo wouldnt last 1 minute with...

silva
st pierre
penn
griffin
q jackson

some of these fighters give up 50-70 pounds to kimbo and he would still get beat...

until he beats someone worthy then I will give him the respect he deserves...
to me, he is just another fighter...no more no less

This match is for TV ratings only since the last Elite XC show bombed big time without Kimbo or Gina Carano in action.

I still kind of laugh when people call Shamrock washed up, yeah for MMA in general but he would kill any of us in 2 seconds, same with Kimbo.

Shamrock still has a lot of power to be respected. I mean just because the guy is past his prime in MMA years doesn't mean he still can't kick a lot of guys in MMA butts still. This will be no doubt the toughest fight ever for Kimbo. Hopefully this fight will end clean and not tainted with controversy like the Tank and Kimbo fight was.

Yes, he is a big name. If you have any desire to dispute that, you can look at ratings for the events that he's in, and the ones he's not in. Him being a big draw has no bearing on his fighting ability.

I don't think Shamrock beats him, as much as I want it to happen. Shamrock was demolished by Buzz Berry in his last outing, and Kimbo has better hands than Buzz.

As far as the type of person Kimbo is, I honestly don't think you've seen enough of him, or done any research on the man to be able to judge him as an individual. He's gone legit, gotten with a great trainer all in an effort to better himself and provide for his family. Yep...sounds like a real sack of shit, that Kimbo. Get real man. So what he wears a big gold chain and used to street fight. Read any interview with the guy and you'll realize that he's committed to being a real fighter. He as a person has no bearing on the fans that watch him. Learn about something before you decide to post on it.

I agree with many of the people whom are chastising Kimbo at this point: I have to see him beat someone legit before I am sold on him. That's just me.

He has taken the initiative to train with top notch guys because he is green. Good for him. So has Brock Lesnar, but the difference is that Brock, despite his lack of experience, has had his first two fights against a former UFC champion and a legitimate contender to said title. Both opponents, as well, were young and are still in great shape. Brock entered the UFC with similar hype and expectations, and at least he is putting himself in a position to prove that hype is just.

Also, the "you shouldn't criticize 'fighter A' because he'd whoop on your sorry rump" argument makes me chuckle: It's sport which also makes it entertainment; If we don't find it entertaining by some degree based upon our personal tastes, we have a legitimate right to criticize it. It's called having a discerning opinion. There are many people here whom have careers/professions that Kimbo does not have the mental capacity to participate in, but saying "I'd like to see Kimbo argue Civil Rights Jurisprudence in a court of law" if he were to make a wayward comment about a lawyer would be foolish.

Kimbo is training and may become a force to be reckoned with. It's possible and I will not deny it's possible. Right now though, he has to fight someone with substance to convince me, and he hasn't done that yet.

He is washed up, I'm quite certain he could dispose of us quickly, but that's not what we're talking about. As it relates to current UFC competitors he is past his prime.

I don't know what the big deal is over giving Kimbo a hard time. He has to build up the quality of the opposition over time & if we were talking about it in boxing terms its like an amateur going up against a world champion with some of the match ups being suggested in this thread.

He can only beat what is put in front of him & if it takes him to a situation where he has no alternative but to fight the best in his division then at least he will have earnt the right to do it.

I enjoy watching the guy fight as I did with the street fights he had, you cannot deny there is a charisma surrounding the guy & he himself isn't getting carried away with the hype so good luck to him.

I think it'll be a close run thing against Shamrock as Ken still has a fair few moves to pull on Kimbo that may cause him a few problems. If Shamrock loses then he surely has to call it a day as he himself is becoming more the side show than the main attraction & for someone who fought to the standard he once did, that can never be a good thing.

**** Kimbo The you tube fighter. This is just a publicity stunt. Shamrock probably gettin' a pay check to take the fall.

I still like Elite Xc better than UFC because they don't have douche bags Golberg and Rogan. Also a**** Vince Mcmahon wannabe who favors whoever takes place in his gay little reality show.

Intresting. All I can say at the moment is his win against James Thompson was outstanding. Thompson had lost a few fights in a row, so who cares, but fought some good competition in the past with a win over Yoshida an olympic judo medalitst. ..

Ferguson looks like he will be pretty good with more training especially with better cardio. I like watching him fight...NO wait...I LOVE watching him fight. Why? cause he s a brutish looking dude that looks like he could eat your children ! But seiously he makes for good entertainment. He is however in the same catagory as say Bob Sapp. Great to watch him fight but you know he's never going to really go anywhere....sigh

ken could easily finish kimbo if he clinched with kimbo, took it to the ground and ubmitted him. kimbo is so hyped, there is no way elite xc is gonna let him lose and i think ken is going to cooperate and take his last big pay day
