| Whats with the photo rating?
Posted: 6/14/2005 1:07:39 PM | I left mine with the voting switched on (didn't really see it/take any notice of it when I signed up) and I guess it's a good way to dent your ego if you aren't thick skinned/ not worried about what others think. (when you look as unfortunate as I do hehehe)
Does anybody here take the ratings seriously? Why? I'd like you to enlighten me, I'm not having a pop or getting the a**e, just curious.... And bored, must go find something to do!
P.s I have to say when a guy votes on my pic, that IS taking it too far  | |

Posted: 6/14/2005 2:23:17 PM | I'm pretty darned scared of the photo rating thing. I thought for half a second about turning my vote counter on for fun and giggles, but I know it would make me pretty sad if people started giving me 2s or being mean. I have to work hard to not feel self-conscious and fat and dumpy. I'd say it's something related to being "Just a Mom," but in reality I've struggled with this since I was a cherub-faced 8 year old. That's probably why I'm so in love with portrait photography. The best feeling in the world about the work I do is when someone comes back to me and says how beautiful their session and their portraits made them feel or hearing how their husband went ape over their gorgeous portraits. :-))
Oh, but about photo ratings. We all know how it works... girls show boobs and get high ratings from young guys (and old guys). Girls look pretty and other girls give them a 1 or 2 to "put them in their place. Guys get good ratings when they're cute, but girls are mostly nasty and give 4s to everyone. Not sure about guys rating other guys, but I can se e how we can all get bored sometimes.  | |

Posted: 6/14/2005 4:39:37 PM | | Dont take the votes to heart. People mostly are not serious when they vote. It is almost pointless to look at the votes. I tend to just change the pic and see what response the new pic gets. Have fun with it, nothing else you can do about it. :P | |

It could be a good tool to know what local woman, or women in a given age range, may be interested in you IF the whole world ...male or female could be eliminated from voting.
I could care less what a 21 -35 year old women thinks of my looks.
I could care less what a male thinks of my looks even more.
Then we can only see the top results on the "FANS" page. Can't see them all. So if there are many votes wasted on those not the right age or gender, a local woman's vote will never be sown. NOT GOOD!
It would be great to add filters so the rating or voting has some practical use. | |
