Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer??
Posted: 9/15/2008 6:59:18 AM
I'm a believer, within reason as there's "shonky's" in every profession. I've met/seen some amazing psychics over the years that were scarily accurate.

Interested to hear others opinions and stories.

This is a touch mystical this thread, was speaking to a mate just last night about this very subject.
We came to the conclusion most of the Shonky ones arnt all that shonky, they do have some ability but concentrate on making a living out of this industry. Like you get teachers just turn up for work eachday and go threw the motions to keep their job and their wage, they have an ability to teach otherwise they wouldn't be teaching.

But what is a "psychic"? fortune teller, medium, counsellor, what?
I can tell you now one day you'll stop posting here, Am I gifted or am I just clever?
Peoples body languages, speech pattern, choices of words and the questions they ask can help someone tell them what they want to hear, we all can do that, some put alot of time and effort into being very good at it.
But then there's "real ones" Smart, intuitive but they feel as much as they think" The ones who work for the FBI and have for quite sometime.

I agree to a degree, but I don't think everyone can do it. Some people just aren't that aware of those things, or aren't very intuitive. I do get what you're saying though Hagars.

I find it pretty easy to tell who are the "real deal", maybe it's intuition. I do believe a heightened intuition is part of the whole psychic thing, but then there are those who get messages from those who have passed etc. I think that's where people get cynical. I do believe, and have had some pretty amazing experiences with it.

You're right, it's a lot more about feeling than thinking.

I think at best they're perceptive and empathetic people, at worst they're confidence tricksters, definitley nothing 'psychic' about them.

Having said that though a friend came to me a few years back and said that she'd been to a clairvoyant to try and get in touch with her dad and apparently my dead brother had popped up and given her a message for me [que X-files music]

Personally I can't see it, my brother didn't believe in psychics in this life, can't see him believing in them in the after life, he didn't even believe in the after life, so it's not likely they'd let him in. Anyway, even if there is an after life and he's in it, there's no way he'd talk to anyone in this life cos he's too fvcking stubborn to admit he was wrong...so it's all a crock if you ask me.

Go on prove it
I'll prove I am, these threads always get someone using quite strong words discrediting and showing ignorance to this issue, I could give you 2 user names that never fail in this but they wont if I do.

I do believe a heightened intuition

Intuition is a funny thing, sometimes you know things that create negativity and stress where as if you didn't they wouldn't
An example: Your going on a long drive, your oil pressure gauge throws a wobbly but returns to normal, you intuition tells you that's not right, your intelligence towards oil pressure and engines tells you 1 minor wobbly could kill the car so you spend the drive worrying your car could die at any point. Your car doesn't break down and if you hadn't thought about the wobbly you would of spent a more positive time thought wise.

Speaking with a wise woman one day I was lead to believe those with strong abilities end up in psych wards the longer it takes for them to recognise and accept thier abilities and how different they are.

I agree, and we're thinking the same 2 names

Very interesting indeed. I think the more you ignore or fight it, the more it would "drive you insane".

thats the second exam passed

most people know nothing about this issue so if they dont know how can they fight it? To me its more the social and relationship experiences an un-enlightened but skilled one has because they are different, there thoughts are on a different level, their emotions and their nature(peaceful one,too emphatic towards others feelings to a point they get walked all over)

Though yes I agree it could I imagine be nerve racking and confusing trying to fight it and prone to "depressive tendencies and the associated self medicating(drugs, alcohol, gambling, bad relationships, isolation)

Of course I got the message, I might be a cynic but I'm also curious...I didn't believe it though, cos as well as being stubborn he was also a lier. But it was an interesting message.

Maybe, just maybe, he was trying to show you that it's real???

Nope...just the message, he'd never try and convince me of something like that.

my sheer existence on this earth is rather unbelievable.. so why wouldnt i believe in something like that.. im yet to meet a clairvoyant that actually rocked me (been to 3 through my life for various reasons, eg friends going etc).. but then i also believe there are alot of simply 'good readers' and 'intuitive' ppl out there... from my vague understanding of psychics and true clairvoyants its hard to be around ppl...

but meh... basically... i dont really disbelieve most things simply because the whole god, big bang thing is hard enough to swallow something like a psychic is a little easier on the mind to ...'believe'

you can win $1,000,000 american dollars if you can demonstrate a psychic ability under scientifically controlled conditions. the magician/skeptic the amazing randi is behind the idea. to date no one has bothered to prove themselves and take the cash. tells you something doesn't it?

Those who define existences as finite and measurable in a controlled fashion are doomed to live them. If we know only what is inside the box..then surely much more exists outside of it .

The only problem that i have with psychic phenomena is that a soul only lets people know about something if they want them to know. It would would be possible for a psychic to get some information and make up the rest or assume things from there feelings. I have come across a friend with genuine clairvoyant or psychic ability but they do not choose the moment this information or feelings come to them. She could just go into a room and feel a presence rather then actually look for it. I have reservations about psychics who consult as they are being forced to find information rather then letting it come to them so i would want to trust a psychics integrity first because they could just be using there emotional intelligence rather then being genuine if they even have any psychic abilities in the first place of course.

hi chemistryiseverything, ive just been reading through the posts and this is a very interesting subject, this may be a long post but i really hope u read it and reply with any comments.

ok first - while driving across the nullabor with my bf, i had my eyes closed and was just snoozing when i woke up and could see my bf just driving along, sounds normal right? only thing was after about 10 seconds i realised that one: my eyes weres till shut and two: i was looking at my bf from face on which means i had to be sittin on his lap and therefore he couldnt drive! i was conscious of the fact that i was in my seat next to him with my eyes closed and when i thought about it to much it went away and my eyes opened. this happened three or four more times over the course of the 36 hour drive.

so this intrigued my curiosity into the subject as my brother is a clairvoyant/psycic and we have always ahd a strong connection to eachother. i talked to my bf about it and he was amazed because he has always believed in the abilities of psycics. so we went to a little store in mt gambier and asked the resident psycic there about it but she couldnt tell me much about what had been happening to me.

next thing is that at night just before i fall into a deep sleep i hear voices, its only happened a few times but its really really scary. my cousin died a few yrs back and sometimes i hear him calling out my name and the other night i woke up from someone saying something in my left ear, i could feel warm breath on my neck and when i tried to move i couldnt pull my blankets up as if someone was sitting or lying on my blankets next to me.

third thing that has happened to me is that me and my bf went to the fremantle prison on a night tour and the guide was a clairvoyant/psycic and right from the beggining she tacked on to me and my bf asking us do we feel that can u hear that? but asked no one else, and then when we went into one of the floors i turned around to answer her question that she asked me which was "why did u come here?" but when i turned to my side to tell her there was no one standing there she was up the front of the group, and when i told her she just smiled and walked away?

so, i am a believer and i think that i may have some..ability? any comments would be gretaly appreciated, my names jessica and im 21 yrs old. thanks guys :)
