We play Euchre every Monday at Cactus Pete's Bar and Grill ( locally known as The Birchmount) in the Birchmount Plaza, right smack dab on the north west corner of Birchmount Ave and Danforth Rd in Scarborough. ***Please note that Danforth Rd is the Danforth that angles down through Scarborough and NOT the Danforth Ave that stretches across the east end of the city. Birchmount intersects with both Danforth Rd and Danforth Ave. The one we are at is one block south of St. Clair Ave. ***
Start Time: New start time for one week only. Please try to show by 7pm. this week. . Most people play until close to 9:30 pm. A few games last until 10 pm (or later). Come early, come late, there is always enough room. After a mid-summer slowdown, we are back to attracting between 25 and 30 players a week.
Admission is absolutely free. The owners assure us there is no obligation to spend while playing euchre. The place is otherwise dead on a Monday night. Although we do get together in a bar, we are in a separate area where there's coffee, tea and soft drinks available for anyone that prefers them. There is also a full menu of great, reasonably priced food! A few people show up early for dinner.
Coffee is now set up where we play (on the honour system)-----No need to order.
If you're taking the TTC-the 69B (Via Birchmount) bus takes about 5 minutes from Warden Station. The bus leaves Warden Station at 6:20 pm, 6:40 pm, 7:00 pm, 7:15 pm, 7:30pm and every 15 minutes after that. There also is another bus that runs between Main Station and Kennedy Station-the 113(Via Danforth Ave-Danforth Rd-Kennedy Rd) that drops you off at the same intersection It's again about 5 minutes if you board at Kennedy Station, and about 12 minutes from Main Station.
This coming Monday, the 29th of September, is our one year anniversary mini-tournament. There will be prizes for almost everyone!! It is, as always, a free event. Please everyone come a little earlier, like by 7 pm. so we can get underway by 7:15 pm. sharp. The first part of the mini-tournament will be a 4 game round robin with random partners. The games will be one half hour time limited. When the buzzer goes, finish the hand you're playing then mark down the existing scores. I expect that this won't need to happen as most games will be wrapped up in time. The second part of the tournament will then be the top players playing a semi-final and final to determine an overall single winner. Non- semi-finalists will play on for fifth place etc etc. Thank you all and remember, it's about fun!!

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S AND T H A N K Y O U
for people who dont know GORD is responsible for all the fun you have had at these monday night get togethers . i remember last sept at the coffee shop when we had 8-10 people out . then during xmas break the coffee shop closed and GORD lost all his cards , he didnt let that stop him and look what a great night out this has become .
GORD i owe you a special ThANK YOU . i met NANCY here i april ,we have been dating since june and i have had a GREEEEEEEEAT summer .
i know of at least one other couple who met here . people if you have never been here on a monday night try it . if you dont win at euchre you may get LUCKY later.
PS most people do not care about who wins , they just come for the good fun and laughs .
