| George Carlin ! Anybody besides me miss him ? Posted: 9/22/2008 8:37:43 PM | I actually met the man and he was actually a very shy person...funny as hell on stage, and very personable up front and in person. The funniest thing I ever saw him do was on the Johnny Carson Tinight Show. He actually walked out to the end of the stage, and said absolutely nothing. PPL ROARED with laughter. He made it look like he was going to say something and they quietened down, and he simply changed his facial expression and they were in the aisles again. His gid was 5 minutes long and camera shots showed people with tears from laughing so hard...I will truly miss this great man !

GC was part of an illustrious group of social commentators that could make you laugh at the joke but learn something in the process. You are lucky you actually got to see him on his own. I'm not surprised that he was quiet. GC was a thinker and thinkers are usually quiet until they want to be heard.

| George Carlin ! Anybody besides me miss him ? Posted: 9/22/2008 11:33:48 PM | I was going to see him; he was scheduled to give a concert in my town July 20.
"I'd like to begin by saying... F u c k Lance Armstrong. F u c k him and his balls and his bicycles and his yellow shirts and his steroids and that dumb empty expression on his face; I'm tired of that a s shole. And fuck Tiger Woods. There's another jackoff I can do without."
He was funny, insightful, intelligent, and a master of the English language. His work will continue to entertain for decades.

I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

It's so sad to see that he's not going to be making anymore jokes about how terrible our society is.
"When you're born, you get a ticket to the freak show; when you're born in America - you get a front row seat."
"F*CK MICKEY MOUSE! F*CK Mickey with big rubber d*ck. I hope Mickey dies!"
"Freud said 'Sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar' - Oh yeah? Well sometime's it's a BIG BROWN D*CK!"
"Children are like any other group of people: There a some winners and a WHOLE LOTTA LOSERS."

He was very down to earth, and seemed interested in my career and wanted to know how hard or easy it was to support a family as a musician doing what I did. I enjoyed the 10 minutes I got to speak with him.

Al, the hippie-dippie weatherman: "Forecast for tonight . . . dark. Clear to widely scattered light in the morning."
On marketing condoms: "The sex pack, the six pack, and the handy shack pack for you weekenders. Something for the kids - Junior Miss!"
He is missed. | |

| George Carlin ! Anybody besides me miss him ? Posted: 1/8/2009 1:28:51 AM | Carlin actually annoyed me but I appreciated him for making valid points via his humor dialogs.
I am more of a Lenny Bruce/ Bill Hicks fan which are close to same intellectual veins as Carlin but not quite. Carlin seemed to state the obvious which I see as "gimme's in the comedy world. I liken Carlin to Bill Cosby for the corny factor.
However it was en pointe for his statements about critical thinking(or rather lack therof) being taught in the U.S.

| George Carlin ! Anybody besides me miss him ? Posted: 1/8/2009 1:40:22 PM | I actually had a chance to go to one of his concerts a couple of years ago. My best friend and I had listened to him while in high school and loved his humor. Well, imagine our surprise when he got onto the stage and basically started ranting and complaining. Not funny at all. I knew not to expect him to use all of his old material because he was probably sick to death of recanting that,, but I expected his topical humor to be FUNNY.
Which it wasn't... I truly regret seeing him, its kind of like seeing someone you had idolized years later to find out they had changed beyond recognition. Sometimes the memory is best left alone.

He didn't have a PhD from a great university, but he didn't need one. He saw the world differently than most people, and he got everyone who listen to him to think while they laughed. The world has suffered a great loss.

| George Carlin ! Anybody besides me miss him ? Posted: 2/7/2009 12:28:15 PM | | I like that he called fat people fat. No euphemisms. " They're not large, stout, hefty, chunky,or plump. They're not big boned. Dinosaurs are big boned. They're not heavy, an aircraft carrier is heavy;it's not fat. Only people are fat,and that's what fat people are." George called it like it is, just like me; and if people don't like it.......tough S***. | |

Both were amazing individuals. R.I.P.
