In my relations with many ladies, as am out every night dancing my few turn offs from any lady is the big threes lol, drinking/smoking/and drugs if she is miss world I wont budge, other fascinating things I find is sense of humour very important in relationship, other appealing quality in a lady healthy out look ie gym or some exercise it reflects that she is taking care of here body. And recently I found none chatting girls are boring me and putting extra pressure on me to direct the night out and keep guessing what topic I should choose to get her interested. So intellectuality a must in any potential lady date, eyes and smiles are more important than physical beauty I hope this give you some scope or window on some of things some men seek in women. | |

anyways....its different for every guy...but I tend to look at the face first. Turn offs are too much make-up, and a pudgy face....a larger woman might have beautiful eyes, but the round faces just don't do it for me....I guess that translates into the fact that we are programmed genetically to look for the best figures to carry our children.....

Posted: 6/17/2005 2:05:07 AM | Well, it's easier for me to talk about what I find attractive in a girl because my turnoffs tend to be very mild and easily overridden by my turnons. But ok.
A little chunky isn't a turnoff for me, no. A lot chunky is, though. I've learned that on dating sites most people in the 'a few extra pounds' category are overweight. Partly I don't like it because I don't like the appearance, partly I don't like it because it's not very healthy to be too overweight, and partly because I'm not a really big guy... and it's nice to have a girlfriend that can fit in your lap.
Really the point where it starts becoming a turnoff for me is where it looks to me like it starts to become iffy health-wise.
I suppose to be fair though I should mention that one of my turn-ons is petite women... my last girlfriend tipped the scales at around 100lbs, and I thought she was insanely attractive. I don't think I've ever dated anyone more than 20-30lbs more than the top end of their "ideal weight range", but I also haven't dated that many people.

1) I find most women's ideal of a "perfect weight" to be too low, and based on those anorexic models given to us. A woman who looks like a famine survivor is not sexy. That said, if one is carrying too much weight, that is also unattractive to my eyes. I see some profiles here and they are confusing. I see women I certainly consider "normal" listing themselves as a few extra pounds, and I see others that are well over normal weight that mark themselves as average. I guess it is all a question of self image.
2) Over application of make up and perfume. A little of both will make me swoon like a teenager. Smothering both on is just like taking a Ferrari and painting it a DayGlo yellow. A woman that dabs a little perfume behind each ear, so that when I lean over to talk to her I get a whiff of it is well on her way to reducing me to adolescence. 
( PS: that works for guys too btw...)
3) Being too obviously sexual in her dress. That micro mini, 5 inch heels, and three blouse button's undone may have a place at home - but not on a date. Bimbo's may be fun to look at, but they are seldom fun to date. It's more fun , when you have something to look forward to.
4) The most beautiful women I have ever dated have been totally clueless to their beauty. I dated this ( and I am not kidding) Claudia Schiffer look a like. She was blonde, six feet tall, and without any makeup turned heads everywhere we went.
She had NO clue, and in her mind she thought she was completely average. I found that extraordinary, and so captivating. | |

Posted: 6/17/2005 12:56:51 PM | A few extra pounds isn't bad. I come from a family that has a "FEW MORE" extra pounds and sometimes it's embarrasing to me. Shallow? No. My opinion. There are great people out there that cannot control their weight and you can't fault that. The Navy preaches to us to stay healthy. Sometimes it's hard. I myself joined in at a robust 166. Today I weigh 240. I'm not FAT or skinny. I have a gut but it isn't "dunlap" LOL!
I am feeling the affects of being big. Does it bother me? Not any more. I have 100's of friends that are awesome to be around and are fine with my size. I get all the fat boy jokes and laugh with them even though I'm the smallest of the fatboy's on my softball team!
I won't date a woman who is even close to my weight or size. If that means I will walk to the rest of my life alone, then so be it. At least I will be stress free!!!!
Have a fine Navy day and know that I will be defending freedom and liberty for all!

I'm not shallow, I am more concerned that if a women is not concerned with the way she looks and sits there and eats a gallon of ice cream while b&t*hing about being fat. I'm concerned because what else in life will not be important to her. Fat girls are like I have personality. Girl your weight is part of your personality. It says alot about you. Thick is one thing. Fat is entirely another. And the shallow thing, your shallow for not losing weight. Don't say its impossible I do it every summer after I get done hybernating.

Posted: 6/17/2005 1:41:34 PM | Heavy makeup is a turn off - I prefer none, over the 1/8" makeup power base some women use. Also, I don't find heavy eye liner and gloss lipstick attractive.
I prefer women who look younger than their actual age. So, I see the gals with no makeup, clean skin and natural lipstick as very attractive.
Being overweight to an extreme - flab is a real turn off.
In general -> They say men are looking for women who are like their mothers. Women are looking for men who are like their fathers.
Bottom line -> Men are looking for healthy breeding women to cary on their gene pool. It's a natural psychological subconscious instinct. | |

Girls need to exercise at least a bit because generally men and women, especially in Canada are too fat!! especially in smaller town Canada!! look around you next time you're out to eat, everyone is overweight!! with guts and asses. I guess it's the stress, food, lifestyle, etc. I'm being truthful (not mean), if you compare this to other countries (the U.S. and the U.K. not included -- no offense to people from there), people in other countries look more like human beings. Europeans really don't dress that much better than North Americans but everything just looks better on them because they are slim! Their guts don't hang out from under their shirts! I think it's a major problem in Canada -- and to see a woman at least taking steps to take care of her body is a turn on, at least it is for me -- and it reflects in the personality of a person that "works out" and eats right -- they are ambitious, disciplined, happier, reponsible, confidant, sane, and more fun to be around -- all great qualities, and characteristics that men in general look for.
This all said i'll probably be a fat slob by time i'm 40... | |

Posted: 6/17/2005 2:20:21 PM | Yeah, I agree with Tantric. The big threes are the biggest turn-offs there are as far as me. Physical beauty is always fleeting, so if I had to say physical characteristics that would turn me off, I'd say bad teeth or an ugly nose.

I prefer to chat with someone awhile before I see them. It allows me to fairly assess their character and often a persons looks are not quite so important once you know them.

A picture is nice, to have a general idea of what they look like occasionally, but besides that... I'd rather take my time. Helps me stay a bit less biased, and with seeing a picture at least, I have an idea that yes, I do find them at least somewhat attractive. Looks do matter, but only to some degree... personality matters much, much more.
I also agree with a fair amount of what's already been said on this thread. Way too much makeup, way too over/under weight... neither do I find attractive. hmm, most anything is good in moderation. I tend not to like short hair too much, especially on a woman. I have seen some cute shorter haircuts, but shoulder length or longer is more my cup of tea. Again, appearance and personality are two different things... a good personality can overcome hmm, "shortcomings?" in appearance, yet not vice versa.

Like this one time I dated a girl who was 5 foot 2 but she weighed 189 and man when she took her clothes off ouch hit the lights it was horendous. Ever since then dude forget it. I can't even imagine sleeping with a big girl anymore. | |

A few - that goes from 7 to 27, isn't it? 27 is a lot, I agree... but stlll... looks like a small figure, doesn't it? less than a third of ... 100?
What would you expect - an option like "hmm.... I am so BIG... you wouldn't imagine!"
or plain and clear "FAT"? People that are overweigh - they can always find somebody " a few more". I know what I am saying - read my thread about weight problems. Been there, done that.
