Has anyone tried lavalife before?Page 1 of 2    (1, 2)
Recently I kept seeing the advertisement for lavalife everywhere I go.

I was wondering if that a sign for me or something.

I mean if I could just stay on pof and keep on fishing til I find the right person right?

But has anyone every tried lavalife or heard from anyone they know about their experience ?

Yes, I've tried lava before. I have had better success on there then here I have to say. Have met a couple of great women from there and we had a fun time. One I dated for a couple of months and the other I still talk to and remain friends with.

I guess as that is a paid site, compared to this free site, I find that the women there are more serious about metting someone. Just my thoughts though.

They seem to be a 'big' dating site - lots of people. I only tried them briefly, but am not interested in putting all that money into finding someone (I like), when they might not be there.

I prefer going to POF and to places where I might find people that I would like.
I'm really here to talk, chat with people who seem interesting and that I haven't met in real life.

But if you have a hunch that Lavalife might be good for you, try it...

I'm not sure myself, that is why I was wondering if anyone dated anyone from there.

I guess free stuff has it own benefit and paying site has their own benefit.

Thank for replying

Yes, I am presently a member of lavalife. It has it's very high points as well as very low points. Be aware, as I was not, that the site is quite sexually graphic in nature. Out of 10 instant messages I receive at any given time, 8 are requesting online webcam sex. Lucky, they too have a Block feature.
The site was started in Canada so there are a huge amount of Canadian members (not too great for me as I live in Florida.) There are only a handful of local men who are members when I do a search.
Ok, the high point...I have had several dates with men I met on lava. All were exceptionally nice and of quality however, they all live some distance away. If one is looking for a chat buddy there are plenty of those available as well.
My membership will be up in November and I will not be renewing if that tells you anything about my overall experience.

I placed an add with them a few months ago And it seems all I got were men trying to contact me for sex.
I also had one (overseas) that wanted me to buy him a plane ticket so he could move over here to the states and make all my dreams come true, as he put it.. Cough...cough.....
He thought all us American women were rich and supported thier men. Not sure where he got that information, but that's what he said..
And never went out with anyone, and was not about to give them my phone number or address, as everything I recieved was very graphic, or guys wanting me to support thier azzes.....
Also I found it was hard to get off the site as they kept sending junk to me constantly. I finaly had to threaten to sue them just to get them to stop.

Forgot about that! I was constantly being spammed by them. I'm talking about 5 emails EVERY day. A pain-in-the-ass if you miss a few days of checking your email.

When I first tried online dating it was with Lavalife. It was interesting that is for sure just about every man I talked to what to know if I had a web cam and if so did I wanna see. And my answer to that was nope after the first time I opened the cam and to my surprise it was not his face that I saw up close. Now don't get me wrong I did meet a few man for coffee that were not into the online sex stuff. It was one of the guys from there that told me about POF. I did get to talk to guys from all over the world on Lava. But it was here on POF that I got the marriage proposal from a nice gentleman in Alabama. But of the two site I have better luck on here and enjoy this site alot more.

That was the first dating site I was on. I've had way more luck here.

Someone said the women on there are more serious...... I didn't find that - you just end up wasting a bunch of money for the same results.

One other thing that was interesting, besides having my own account I set up an another account there posing as a female because it actually tells you how many members of the opposite sex there are.......

The ratio there is 1.6 guys to 1 girl.

Don't waste your time with it, especially if you're a guy.

I personally have tried Lavalife in the past since I am living in Toronto (the headquarters in somewhere around in Etobicoke). Same results with other paid dating sites. You get what you pay for.

I think Lavalife now is getting too graphic (sexual for me).

I was on it in early 2004 and I met a man I was consequently in a 2 and 1/2 year relationship with. Its not a bad site for the money...you can pay for a certain number of "credits" ( usually $ 14.00 will get you enough to contact lots of people ) .

Its free to reply to people that contact you first as well.

So all in all, not too bad. However, the site does not have Forums and thats what I like here

WoW rocks but I thinkas dating sites go it might be kinda limited, waht with the number of guys who make female characters lol

Have done Lavalife in the past, it was ok but no real relationships came from it. Here I met an awesome woman who I dated for a year and still remain friends with. i might chuck the whole internet dating thing though and try to find a hobby where I can meet women in real life and try get their attention that way!

Hello everyone,

I have tried Lavalife once before and currently. But I did not get too many replies. Maybe because I only had the free membership instead of the paid one. The one thing I did find though is there were a few scammers there. I am sure you will find that no matter where you go. Almost every site I belonged to I have found at least a handful of scammers wanting to try and scam me. Also you get the women who are "cam girls" and then give you another web site to go too to see their photos. But you have to have a credit card to gain access to the site. Sorry I do not do that type of stuff. I do not blame them for trying to make money but do not say: "will send photos" and then tell me to go to a "live cam girls/porno" site to see those photos. Other sites I have gotten a lot of replies but no had no way to reply back to them unless you paid extra or were a paying member.

I have and was more successful in connecting. It costs to connect there, so you are less likely to come across lame emails. The sick and the depraved exist in both sites.

on and off for a few years in 3 different cities.

i think it tends to have a younger, more edgy/urban population.

there were an abundance of men looking for the same girl, or so it seemed to me.

i didn't know there were so many different ways to say "no fat chicks please."

it was educational.

Yes I have tried it and not any different then POF.
I do find that some people that are on here are on their as well.
Might as well stick to this one since its free .
One comment someone made:
"Its free to reply to people that contact you first as well."
I dont think that applies anymore because I had a profile on there about 2-3 months ago and I tried to reply to someone who had IM me and it would not work unless I was also a paying memeber so I deleted my profile.

Yes, I was on Lava on and off once or twice. Who you attract seems to depend on which section you post a profile in. Unfortunately, the "Intimate" section seems to be the only one where anyone actually talks! You do need to buy credits to IM someone. I bought credits a few times, never paid to join. These sites are virtually all alike. Creeps, weirdo-s, pervs, married men looking to cheat either on-line or in person exist everywhere.

POF is fun, especially the forums. Pretty good deal so far.

If you are thinking of paying money for Lavalife so far it's not worth it.
There are a lot of spam messages from people wanting to chat with their private e-mail that have no pictures. No picture, no reply!
Some of the same people are on Lavalife are on POF and other sites but maybe there is a person there for you.

I think those sites keep on charging your credit cards unless you contact them directly by forms or email. I would probably also contact credit card company to make sure they don't let them bill a 2nd time after trying out 3-6 months.

Facebook "Interested" is not a bad application.

EHarmony you have to be divorced and not just separated so make sure you fill out that you are divorced or waste time on 1,000 questions. There are different people on EHarmony. Even singleparentmeet.com has different people and quite a few with all the children grown up out of the house. Some people feel that they want to meet people that have had a family with children at one time.

Good luck on your new adventures!

Yup, same as every other dating site. In fact, whatever site you use, you'll probably find many of the same people as you see here on POF.

Ha ha... you see ad's for LL everywhere because they ARE everywhere! I've tried it... there's been better, there's been worse. I find it's the same old shit. It's usually the exact same people as you find on here. I like eharmony, I think the people there seem more serious, and I like their matchmaking system. Online dating is like a whole new world. Good luck!
