sorry to hi-jack your thread op but the news this week reflecting what goes on in your county in Ireland is bloody shocking to say the least.
I think it's quite comical the way people buy into media skewing reality. The reality is that there have been gang related problems in most of Ireland's major cities and towns for some time. However, they are so dwarfed by the crime levels that are statistically there for all to see in Dublin, that why the media chooses not to bother focusing with the same intense scrutiny surely has to make you wonder. The main reason? The feud captured the public's imagination and they would gladly hear every sordid detail believing that Limerick is some murderous war zone. Look up the actual figures...the facts don't measure up to the kind of media scrutiny AT ALL. Don't get me wrong, I am as sickened by crime as anyone else, which is why I have been so disturbed by Paul William's reports and publications...the vast majority of which focus on violent gang/drug related crime in our Nation's capital. So...a small bit of perspective is probably in order.... | |
