| Question about profile pics - Is it a glitch in the system?

I've seen a few profiles that show no picture until you click on the profile, then you see them. Is this an option I don't see or has this happened by accident? Anyone that has their profile like this, do you know how you did it? | |

On the page where you add or delete pictures, or select them to appear or not appear on your profile, there is an option to select one picture as a "main image".
I believe that if you do not select a picture as your main image, your picture won't show until someone clicks on your profile. | |

Posted: 11/5/2008 8:48:40 AM | ^ I've also tried in the past to not select a main picture to appear on my profile and to only have my pictures appear when my profile is opened, but the system automatically defaults one of my pictures and puts it on my profile. So I'm guessing that it must be a glitch in the system because I have seen quite a few profiles like the ones you describe OP.

Well, you can still see my mug. It won't let me not select a main picture. I don't know? It works when I do it.
I just selected a couple of pics to appear on my profile, and it didn't make me select a main image.
The pics show on my profile, but not beside my forum posts. | |

I just tried it twice...I updated my profile and everything and it still defaults a picture to be the main image.
Grr. Just tried it at least 5 more times...I take all the check marks off, I update it, and when I come back on the forums to see, my pic is still there...so I go back to Image, and a check mark has now been automatically put beside one of my pic.

Whaaaaa.....it didn't work:(
And I just tried it two more times and I noticed that the moment I update Image Setting, that a check mark automatically appears on the second colum under "main image". And no matter how many times I click it off, it keeps re-appearing. Aw well...it's just that now I want to know why you can do it on your profile for example, and I can't:). | |

Maybe the difference in our experiences results from the fact that you already had pics appearing on your profile, while I didn't?
When I did it, I had pictures uploaded, but none were already selected to appear on my profile.
I just went to my image options, and selected 2 to appear on my profile.
Perhaps, if you remove all current pics from your profile; then update image settings; then go back and select a pic (or pics) to appear on profile; it may let you do it without defaulting to a main image? | |

OE: When I think about it, I'm not sure it will work. Even when you upload pics for the first time, it does select a main pic for you, without you checking one. We'll see. | |

I really don't know why it works differently for different users?
It was just something I just happened to notice by accident once. I occassionally change my mind about whether to have a pic on my profile or not; and just happened to notice it working that way for me when I don't bother to select a main image. | |

If you message someone, and they want to send you a message back, does that response show up in your inbox? It's just that I've had a lot of people read my messages but not respond. I need to know if they just didn't respond or if the responses are somewhere else beside the inbox. | |
