Im totally new to dating sites and only ever met guys in bars or clubs or through shared interests the gym etc. So when u meet someone on line and u get on very well and arrange to see each other again, do u still go on line to chat to others the next day or do u give it a rest for awhile to see how things go. I had arranged to meet a guy and just got turned off him as he seems to be on line for hours every day. The danger is if u go back on line straight away u mite put the person u like off and loose them. What do u all think? | |

Posted: 11/12/2008 11:46:51 PM | Wish I had some experience with that situation, but sadly I don't. Been here for several years and haven't gotten a bite. I do enjoy the forums, it's like being at a party with a room full of strangers and being able to butt into a conversation without feeling rude.
I would venture to guess that even though you do hook up with someone on line going back and talking to people on line would be like continuing to speak with your friends in the REAL world. As long as your intentions are honorable and you are not there to get another date.

Alot of people just like chatting online, and personally I love the reading fourms. So Im constantly online, but I dont spend all my time chatting to people.
Also, a lot of people might show up as online, because they are in work and have the site open in the backround.
I supose if a relationship was beginning to get serious maybe, a conversation about the site would have to be brought up, but after a first date I would think its ok to still go online. | |

Before i met him, i was just using this site for the forums, but happened to come across his profile and the rest is history as they say.
I still go online, im a youtube nut, and im totally addicted to these forums.
I just dont be online as much as i used to.......i used to sign on here about 3 times a day, now its only the once........to participate in the forums.......and because im on a 5 post a day ban, then my time online is even shorter.
I dont feel the need to, now that i have my man in my life......we both still have our profiles on here, mine clearly states that im here for the forums only......his states that he found me and wants to keep his up to read my forum posts.....he always enjoyed reading them. I trust him 100% as he does me........so i know the forums are the only reason were both on here......even though he doesnt log on anymore, he knows the forums are a bit of an adddiction for me, so no problem!! | |

It is a matter of trust, they either trust you or they don't. You do have the option of hiding your profile, which might be useful while you are dating someone.
As someone has stated, your friend may just not be signing out each time he signs in which makes it appear he is constantly online on Pof. I know I sign in to messenger and Pof then get distracted by other things, or even leave the house and forget to sign off...makes it appear as though I'm glued to these sites.

I still go online though just for the forums,i love reading some of the things and joining in the ramblings on there.
The only time i have private messages are from people i'm friendly with and a few who ask me medical related stuff.
I go a couple of other sites,not dating ones,one being a tattoo site/forum.Sometimes it looks like i'm sat on my bum glued to the screen but i'm not,it means i've logged on and got bored and gone to do other things......
Trust is the key i think....without that there's nowt!
p.s......Cailin,when can i have a squizzy at your man?

If you click on the Edit tab on your profile the following will appear;
"Edit More Registration Details like passwords HERE, To hide your profile from others click here
Hiding your profile disables many things such as the Instant Messenger. "
Then you just hit the 'hide' feature...this hides your profile until you decide to unhide it.

As you 'are' a radio presenter; did you hear of the competition where the public were invited to think up a new word, one which was not in any dictionary. The prize was 1500 Euros. Some guy rang in and thought up the word 'Goan', which I thought was excellent as it's a word used in local vernacular. Though the presenter didn't think it was worthy of the prize.
What is your view on that word? Do you think Tecnic that the presenter was wrong not to award that caller the prize for his word?

Firstly, as someone has already stated, many people appear to be online because they leave their comps and internet connections open even when they do other things (I know I do it all the time).
Secondly you have to realize the simple fact that for every 10 -15 mails you will get as a female a male will get one or two, so online dating is a bit harder for man. This info by the way comes from the horse’s mouth, so to say, it is not a presumption.
Thirdly, guys are visual beings, I think we all know that much, and they are genuinely scared, yes scared, of you not looking anything like your photos. Sadly many women do post older photos; or let's put it this way: photos cannot ever capture a real live YOU, ergo, they are always going to be kind of fake. Guys are afraid of disappointment so they keep searching… we all do.

Oh yes, lets not forget the fact that internet, forums, chatting, dating...whatever, is quite addictive. Anyone who has been in online dating game long enough will not delete or make inactive theirs account after you set a first date. I am sorry but that is a simple naked truth.
