| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 11/19/2008 3:28:02 PM | I had great success with the coffee meets in Summerside & Charlottetown. It seems they stopped when I left for awhile.
A dance was trying to be organized but it didn't work out.
There is a singles dance at the Charlottetown Legion once a month. But, I can never remember when it is. It would be great to go as a group. That worked out really good before.
I'll help as much as I can if anyone comes up with some ideas.

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 11/21/2008 3:05:44 PM | There is a singles dance every 3rd Friday of the month every month actually there is one tonight , there is also a benifit dance on Sat night with Rogers Jones playing , you can be single and go somewhere although it is probably harder for ladies to go by themselves best to go with a friend either female or male | |

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 12/18/2008 5:52:29 AM | | I used to go to an over 50 dance when i was in my early 40's , i'm sure a few years won't make a difference and no one is that rude to call you on it. am sure they would be glad of increased numbers . The Legion has all kinds of dances as do other places you just have to seek them out | |

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/2/2009 12:00:54 PM | Is there any interest in having coffee meets in Charlottetown and/or Summerside? I was thinking we could meet on Sundays in the afternoon. We could start at Tim Hortons to see how much interest there is. Then move to other places.
When this was done before we had great fun at Razzy's and Ise's in Charlottetown. There is the Heritage Pub & Gentlemen Jims in Summerside. If anyone has places to suggest please speak up!
If there is enough interest shown I will put a post in the Events thread. It may be too late to have something on April 5th. Next Sunday, the 12th is Easter, not sure if that is a good one. But April 19th is definitely a good Sunday to try.
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/2/2009 10:37:52 PM | | Great idea gennienut! What do you think of having "rotating" meets .. travel the Island sort of thing .. a different spot each Sunday. Maybe we could take turns hosting? It would be nice to do Something.. | |
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/3/2009 3:34:16 AM | That sounds good. Do you know of places in other communities where we can meet?
Remember people we need suggestions and comments of interest (or not interested) to make this a go!!!
It is time to get out and make some new friends.

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/3/2009 8:39:27 PM | Well, I must say that I certainly enjoyed the coffee meets we had in Summerside, although they did not continue. It was a treat to actually meet face-to-face people I had only previously met on-line and to also meet some new people too. I certainly would be in support of any future singles events, and would attend such, as long as circumstances dictate. Perhaps, I may even be able to help assist in an organizing capacity, but that would depend on how that would fit in with my work schedule, time with my kids, etc. Canvasing other members on here for suggestions I believe is an excellent way to start generating interest and ideas. Presently, I am living in Tignish, and although there are not many places/events that might be planned for this area, I could probably think of some if pressed. For purely selfish reasons (I'm playing a small role), I would suggest that maybe some of you could come and check out a three act comedy that will be performing at the Tignish Parish Centre on April 18th at 8:15 p.m. and also on April 19 at 2 p.m. ($5 admission). If enough were interested, maybe a car-pool could be arranged and some could also get together for coffee before or after one of the shows. Then again, maybe I'm the only one that likes that idea! | |

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/4/2009 8:37:21 AM | | OK - I've annotated my profile drawing attention to this thread, with the hope that other Single Islanders will post their interest and ideas for coffee meets, events and other ways for us to get out there and Meet new and old friends .. maybe some of us will even get lucky! hehehe .. | |
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/5/2009 8:17:23 AM | Attending the theatre sounds like a wonderful idea! Unfortunately I'll be staying with a senior during those days and can't get away.
When there are events happening I can usually take 4 passengers.
Let keep the suggestions coming in. I'm liking this!!! lol

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/18/2009 9:59:35 AM | OMG .. it's quiet in here! ..

Let me know here or send me a note .. and have a lubberly day eh!

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/19/2009 2:02:51 PM | That sounds like fun!
As for Charlottetown, I've been told that the Legion has dances for singles the third Friday night of every month and there's usually a live band. I've only ever been to two dances at the Legion. The dancing part is fun but it's difficult to have conversations and be heard because the music is very loud. The coffee thing is ok as long as the coffee is good which means rich and stand-alone black, for me. I love the buffet-style salad bar at F.W. in North Rustico with the tabouleh, hummus, and various salads. There is something for everyone there, good coffee and lots of seating. People from Summerside or Charlottetown could attend a get-together there. I'm not sure when they open for the season but I can call and let you know. Then the Lion's Club in N. Rustico also has dances on the weekend, so it could go from the buffet to a dance later on just up the road. You can walk to it. Lots of seating at the Lion's Club too and a small bar on the main floor just as you enter. The dance floor is upstairs.

| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/22/2009 7:45:52 AM | | It's been such a long winter that I think this is a great idea. A super way to kick spring off in style. | |
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/22/2009 9:44:17 AM | I really like the idea of meeting at the F. W Restaurant as it is just down the road from me!! lol It usually opens for Mother's Day.
A dance is Summerside is a good idea. The Knights of Columbus had been approached at one time & was pretty interested. I'll do what I can to help out. This depending on what hours I'll be working.
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/22/2009 10:22:42 AM | Yeah .. the Knights is the spot I was thinking of as well .. but they do charge to rent the hall and DJ's aren't free .. so I'm not starting Anything or booking halls or DJ's until we get some interest. Done Lots of organizing in the past - events etc. .. so with a few volunteers that can be done easily .. just need the interest ..
F.W. sounds awesome to me as well .. 'cept I'm a little broke for that spot :( .. and don't have a vehicle ..
You know, IF we can get a few people together .. a good old fashioned Lobster feast right at the wharf would be fun too! .. Aside from days like today - the weather's getting good enough we could do something outdoors that's cost effective ..
I'm not sure how to get people (Islanders) back in these forums or interested in events .. maybe 'we' oughta just start pm'ing PEI members! lol .. or maybe just keep bumping this thread up ..
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/22/2009 2:30:52 PM | I plan on posting a coffee meet for May 3rd. Haven't decided if it should be Summerside or Charlottetown! lol I'll see what interest is sparked here & then decide. I'll post in the events thread on Thursday.
A lobster feast, bbq, pot luck meal - all can be such fun. There are kitchen shelters in various parks that are free to use. I know of ones in the National Park in Cavendish/North Rustico. What is available around Charlottetown & Summerside? The less people have to travel, the better the turn out might be.
|
| PEI Events...For SINGLES???? Posted: 4/22/2009 6:24:53 PM | Hi Gennie,
I'll be checking back here about the coffee meet for May 3rd. Sounds good.
I'll check out F.W. for Saturday May 23, and talk with the Lion's Club to see if there is anything planned for that Saturday night. There may be specials at F.W. that are reasonably priced. I think you can just go in there and have coffee or tea and a muffin or a slice of pie. If there's a dance later at the Lion's Club they may let us bring in our own potluck finger foods. I don't think I'd want to get involved in a lot of cooking and clean-up. I was thinking of North Rustico where people from Summerside and Charlottetown could meet in the middle and just plug into what's already going on there and let the restaurant do the cooking and clean-up, then meet up again at an existing dance. I could ask for reserved group seating at either place if we had an estimate of the number of people beforehand. People could go to one or the other or both. Car-pooling can be worked out.
I'll give some thought to Charlottetown too.
Be back in touch, Laurissa
