Have you ever ran into anyone you have seen on POF, Match, Eharmony. Or pulled up next anyone next to you whose page you just read last night? Obviously, if you have dated them, but I mean, in the line at the grocery store?

Oh yes but he didn't know me as I didn't have a pic on the site at the time! He had a pic in which he was half naked with his ginormous belly hanging over the top of his shorts. I turned around in the supermarket and there he was in the queue behind me. His belly was covered up though, thankfully! I think he was probably wondering why I was staring at him!

I have seen a few men who have posted themselves as being single.. and then seeing them whith their wives and/ girlfriends.. I also see one guy that has posted naked pic of himself on the net (no not this site). I see him fully clothed of course...I pull my co workers aside and point him out.. I guess you just never know who is seeing you in reality so you should always be careful how you "protray" yourself in the fantasy world of the internet!!

Unfortunately, I'm not exactly that observant when it comes to people that are not in my existing circle of friends...

I do have a friend though, that can pick out any man on pof within a 50 mile radius. Not only does she recognise them, she can recite stats, tell you how many pics they have on their profile, AND how long they've been around. Yes, she's THAT good.

Its usually the other way around.....they recognise me.

^^^I'm with Tee....I never pay that much attention to people generally when out and about. Even if I've seen them before, I usually don't know where from unless they tell me - I deal with too many people to keep track of it.

Yeah, unfortunately it's the other way around, and they recognize me. And to top it off they like to tell me they do and where from. Meh.

I've had men recognize me at work from POF.. It's a little embarassing at times.. especially the most recent one. He introduced himself in front of several guys I work with, and said...I guess since you weren't interested on POF my pictures sucked.. don't I look much better in real life? YIKES! LOL

Fredbot.. the only reason to be paranoid is if you're doing things that you'd be nervous about your 'real life' to find out about ;)

Of course. One at a big outdoor festival. Another at a bar.

A third I realized I had met briefly (for like 15-20 minutes) in real life before I met her through POF and went out with her. Something about the way she kind of hung on me reminded me of something in the past. It was totally uncanny. I followed the synapses and finally remembered a couple hours after like our second or third date that she had hung on me in a bar for 15-20 minutes about a year before our first meetup. She didn't remember the prior encounter when I brought it up. But she was, uh, a little tipsy when it happened.

OMG yes, at work. He contacted me and I replied that I was not interest. He sent a second email asking to please give him a chance and again, tried to be nice and said no thank you. Had to block him after the 3rd. I was so uncomfortable with him staring at me I had to go hide in the office until he left.

Stuff like that never happens to me. Or rather, it usually never happens to me. I saw a girl on another site with an unusual name strikingly similar to the name of a girl I met at work. The picture didn't really look like her, though there was a vague resemblance. At work a few days later I remembered to check up on her. My inquisition went like this:

Me: "Is your name *****?"
Her: "Yes."

Me: "Are you 29?"
Her: "Yes, that was me, and I noticed your profile there too."

I thought it was funny in a, "it's a small city" kind of way.

LOL....

Yes... There is a woman who was on Yahoo for the longest time. Quite pretty. Always thought about emailing her but never did. I eventually saw her in a sports bar one day and thought about letting her know I recognized her from the ad.....I, of course, never did.

Now she has an ad on here....and I....of course....will not email her to tell her that I was going to walk up to her at the sports bar to tell her that I saw her ad on yahoo..........

And it keeps going.....and going.....and going.......

I live in a big city so it never has happened to me yet,I doubt I would recognize them because most women on here don't look like their photos.

Yes, and I know it's not just me. I'm sure there are many other women, and men, that have had someone continue to try even after being told no thanks. I guess some people figure persistence will pay off? One person, never met though, even suggested meeting at a POF gathering after being told not interested.

Maybe that should be a new thread. "What's the most amount of times a person continued contact before getting blocked" lol

I actually took my daughter to the hospital last weekend due to a soccer injury; turned out the radiology tech noticed me from this site. He and I have been talking every since.

an honest to goodness man who is frustrated
Posted: 11/23/2008 10:19:12 AM
I get so frustrated by these guys who pose as wolves in sheeps clothing. It gives a good man like me and many others a bad name.I am divorced, loyal, honest and I am not above average looking but at least I am honest about myself and yet I have the hardest time attracting a good honest woman who can love me for who I am and not what she expects me to be.I am not quasimodo ugly or anything like that, just your average joe looking for someone to love and take care of who will appreciate the fact she has a good man.
Yes,the internet can be a fantasy world at times but hey,I am for real, maybe a rare commodity but real.I wish I could just find someone who would see this in me.
Guys,it's time to wise up and wake up and smell the coffee,at least you have someone who loves you and will be good to you,be thankful and love her and don't be so damn greedy.Save some of the undamaged women for us men who have a lot to offer the right woman.
