Just wondering about the length of peoples posts ????

I know some of us find it frustrating when we have a short post and must make it longer to satisfy posting restrictions but I am wondering if there is any others that feel some posts are to long.

Is it kind of like the long fingers analogy ? Does the length of ones post equate to the length of anything else is particular ?

Do we prefer short posts or long posts ?

I am thinking this would be considered a medium sized post although lately there have been a lot of posts that have " a few extra pounds"

I must admit, I have the attention span of a pea when it comes to long, dragged out post. I only read or should I say skim over them if they become pertinent to my point when remarking on a thread.

Long posts are related to long what..fingers did you say?

depending upon the person sometimes a "few extra pounds" that a post or two may have is a good thing,... if it's too much and hanging out all over then it's just excess baggage and no good for anyones health LOL
Especially those muffin top threads that spill out everywhere.
FLAUNTING IT IS EVEN WORSE ESPECIALLY IF NO PUNCTUATION AND RUN ON AND ON AND ON AND ON SENTENCES ARE USED THEN THE TOPIC GETS TOTALLY LOST IN ALL THE HOLLERING!

right?

and as for long fingers does that cover those fingers that seems to have to extend into every other thread dragging the last one with it???

Frequency plus Length=

It's not always the lenght but the girth and subject matter that counts,

but I could do without the picking apart of others posts and the commenting on every little bit of them....

I'm not sure if there is any relevance to the long posts versus long digits
I'm thinking it might have to do with the length of time it takes for some to make
thier point on their post large enough to be noticed...
or the relevance to the amount of words versus the amount of lip service they
need to show us to achieve a conclusion of the purpose of their post....

in either case I'm usually snoozing by the time they have finished........................

If the post is a real life version of "A few extra pounds" Then I can handle it because it's not too much. But If it's POF version of "A few extra pounds" then they are usually much too heavy and tend to put me to sleep while reading.

By the way I heard on the radio last week, that it's usually 3 times the length of a mans thumb. So naturally I ran home and measured by Thumb, I'm guessing that's a pretty good gauge, But since I'm never felt the need to measure certain parts of my anatomy, I can't say for sure.

I agree Mo Mo, some peoples posts are long winded sometimes, (mine included) but I find that for the most part its because they are telling a story related to the thread (hopefully) and or give helpful feed back to/about the topic.

well that would seem to be a little on the long side..

If I wanted to read a book I would grab one from the book case...

can't we just have the readers digest version?

I'm thinking I don't have that much useable space between my ears to retain that many characters ( there is no room left at the Inn ya know ) why would I even try to read or retain that much....I only seek to fill my head with nonsense......

Oh wait....thats what I do most days on here anyway

I am thinking POF should include a mans thumb measurement on their profiles.....
That way we can tell how long their posts will be

Shoe size of course... potential dates will need to know this as nothing will impress her more than a new pair of shoes.... Forget flowers VVVVVVVVVVVV

Well if that were to happen in this day of gender equality the guys would want to see inclusion of some measurement of women.

What should it be? Bra size, shoe size, or... ?

Perhaps women should be judged by the size of their posts
the smallest post meaning the smallest....um feet

What I totally don't understand is why so many people can post one or two short lines, as seen ^^^^^ in this thread, while others can't? Shouldn't the minimum size of posts be something that is uniform amongst ALL posters?
Fixed / Ticketoride

I tried to post 2 full lines on another thread today & got that annoying message that said my post was too short, yet I see there are some really short posts on this thread made by several people. Is there a trick to posting these shorter messages or is there a setting somewhere that I need to adjust? Sometimes I only have a short response (yes, it does happen) but I have to keep blathering on until my post is long enough for this site to accept it; usually has to be several lines long before it's accepted.

I've been charged with being long-winded most of my life & am working on trying to compact my thoughts more, but I see that Ticketoride has recently been outdoing me in the long-winded category on several threads so I don't feel so bad now.

^^^

There are records of my writing that date back to when I was 8 years old. Apparently, even at that age, I was writing several pages daily in my journal. By the time I was a teenager, I was up to 15-20 pages every night in a larger journal & my closet was filled with boxes of journals. So compacting text is not my forté although I'm a good editor of the writings of others. Maybe one day I'll publish my own version of 'War and Peace' ... will make sure I send you a copy.

3 thumbs up to this thread mo-mo!

The long windedness of some posters puts me in a state of cataonic coma.
Can we all say wayyyy too much time on our hands (or thumbs in this case).
I don't even read them.
The posters that sound like kindly old uncles giving their two bits on every subject lose my interest awfully fast as well.
Not that I'm interesting.

MMMM.....roast suckling.
Although I tend to think he'd be a bit "boarish"

I come here to laugh.
I also think that we do learn alot about our fellow posters in here. Which is why we should write what we feel. I don't wanna meet you for a coffee..but believe me, if you are writing something I find piques my interest, I'm checkin out your profile.
You're all game.
