Well, in Stark Contrast to comments posted by men on the ‘Average Size for Females’ thread, where women have been accused of falsely listing themselves as AVERAGE who were NOT a size 2 or a size 4……
I think we women can be more ‘generous’ and ‘gracious’……...and say that a size 2 or a size 4………..
is, indeed……………...A V E R A G E !!!!!!!!!!

I am happy with the fact that I am in such a category. I am currently a size 10 and slowly shrinking and very proud of it. Was a 6 once and will never see that again. But, I have to admit that I am not upset about that. I look back at old photos and thank God that I foun a few pounds. 8 is my limit since after all, I am almost 6' tall. | |

As for women's sizes, the cuts of the clothes are getting bigger seems like every year. A size 6 is not as small as it used to be, so we can't go by clothing size to determine average. As for average women being a size 2 or 4, that's a crock of crap. | |

SO - let's HEAR how you feel about 'average' size for men! Since you mentioned that you are new, I'll attempt to give you a 'reference' point. There is another thread called
"average size for females". In this thread, MEN have been 'known' to criticize women for not stating their 'body type' accurately. i.e. someone who actually is 300lbs choosing (in the drop-down menu) that they are 'average'! Unfortunately, there has been a lot of really 'snidely' comments levied by our 'brethern' on this topic. The intent of this thread (at least as I see it)...it just to kind of 'even out the playing field' and give FEMALE FISH an opportunity to 'critique' MEN!!
Since this is a FORUM...........you can choose to 'play it' anyway you wish!!! | |

I don't personally have a strict preference (although I tend to steer clear of the bean pole types) but I do like honesty. It goes way further with me to see honesty versus the outside. And in that same respect, I DO have to be somewhat physically attracted to someone.
Good lord I am rambling. Bottom line, be real. If you are a size 38, own it. Just like I owned being a 14 that bordered on a 16 a year ago. It was me, for better or for worse. | |

I think beautiful women come in all sizes! My last GF was size 5, but my last 2 dates were a size 16. I have experianced SBS up close and in person(Skinny B1tch Syndrome). It aint pretty! I've learned to NEVER underestimate the big girl! Curves can be lovely! Who the heck sold you girls on skinny is better?? (don't answer...TV, media, etc...) I'd trade my high maintenance Barbie for a good kissing snuggle bunny any day!
I'm 6'3" 225# bald and not as thin as models either but still have fun bringing the romance! I think I'm average now adays. what you think??

Posted: 12/17/2008 5:20:11 AM | I'm tall, and a bigger guy, so I feel the average male SHOULD be L to XL. Even if I was skinnier, a medium would come up to my midriff because they're too short. 
But being more objective, I'm guessing the average guy with an average build should be roughly 180 at like 6 foot? | |

The average guy:
1) Will be 10 years older than you think he is
2) Will be much balder than you think he is
3) Will be missing more teeth than you think he is
4) Will have less money than you think he does
5) Will be twice as needy as you think he is
6) Will be 10x more helpless after you start dating
7) Will have a gut the same size as your average beer keg
8) Has a great relationship with his mother because he still lives at home
9) Will forget his wallet at least as often as the dinner tab goes over $100
10) Will have something "come up at work" at least as often as the planned function includes your kids or your girl friends. | |

That seems to be why so many of us are single. Too many have fallen into the shallow waters. I have been a size 26 and a size 6. I have been treated so different in a smaller body than in a larger but I am still the same sweet me on the inside. Don't get me wrong, attraction is important, yes, but with all the avenues out there to meet people (this being one of them) we have to be careful of the 'eye candy syndrome.' Value who you are, embrace yourself. The right one will recognize it if he exists and if he doesn't it's all good because you have recognized your own gift within yourself. For instance: the sister thread pretty much advocates that a female MUST be either a 2 or a 4 to fall within the range of being ‘acceptably attractive’….
I was just ‘poking fun’ at that attitude and saying that when it comes to MEN - it is REVERSED because a 2 or 4 does NOT fall within the range of ‘acceptability’………..and it would indeed be considered AVERAGE!
SRQnat, I think this thread could really grow if everyone had your mind.  Ok, Ok, mine went there too  Isn't it funny how men prefer their women smaller, but women prefer their men 'bigger'? And as far as our opinion on what is or what is not 'average', the opposite sex will always find it wrong or insulting. What's a person to do? "State their opinion" ..lol.
When it comes to the average size in the profiles, most of the men that state 'average' look bigger than average in their pics; more on the 'extra pounds'. However, photos are deceiving. A couple of men that I have dated in the past, looked to be healthy, but with a thin build. When I met them, they were ''extremely thin''! They hadn't played around with their photos, the camera just adds about 5-10 lbs ALL over. Ones that had a nice, full face or a small, but comfortable looking chest, were actually flat/caved in chested..lol and their face was kinda...sucked in under their cheek bones. We all really need to think about that when looking at profiles. And I also do believe that the persons height has to do with how well they carry their weight. Someone that is only 5' will look big at 150 lbs; where someone at 5' 7", will look thin or healthy at that weight.
As far as the ''average'' size, I really don't think it matters that much as long as they know how to ...exercize. However, that is not always the case. I must agree with you on this matter... it isn't a HUGE issue for me.... just a BIG one.  | |

Average male is probably at least a 34-36" waist at least with L or XL in the shirt size. And like most women, if you wear a S or M shirt, I probably wouldn't look your way. I am not a barbie so I am not looking for Ken. | |

I know I have a few extra pounds but I am working on that but I also do not list myself as average by any means.
I agree with some previous posts, no matter what, be honest. I hate when they say "its the size of a bottle" and it turns out to be the ones you get on an airplane.
