Carpooling During The Snowy Weather - Do You Need Or Can You Offer A Ride?
Posted: 12/24/2008 4:58:59 PM
With so many people trapped in their homes by the snow, I decided to start this thread so anyone who can either offer a ride or who needs a ride from point A to point B, can post their carpooling needs here.

Some people have vehicles that have little problem driving on these roads & might be able to help families & friends get together over the Christmas season by providing rides until the snow clears up.

I'm looking for a ride on Christmas Day to a family get-together as I'm trapped in my townhouse complex, like many others, & can't get my car out. I can walk out to the main road across from Coquitlam Centre & need a ride to 203rd or 207th & Lougheed Hwy. in Maple Ridge. I'm expected there by mid-afternoon on Christmas Day but can leave anytime as per your convenience. I'm willing to cover your gas & time if I can get a ride out there.

Are there any with good tires & a willingness to help out there?

Being snowbound and unable to join family for Christmas dinner (and perhaps copious amounts of drink? ) really stinks.

Hopefully some good Samaritans will come to the aid of those that need it.

Good luck FAS.

So two people have voted to delete this thread because it's "attention seeking"??? That's bizarre. So much for Christmas spirit! I've been driving others through the snow all week helping them to get their shopping & errands done because I thought Christmas was supposed to be all about doing what you can to help others in need ... silly me.

I figured that if I was trapped in by the snow, there are probably many others there who would really appreciate a ride from someone who is passing by their way. I've spoken to countless people today who can't get to their family Christmas dinners tomorrow ... single parents who can't get their kids back home because their cars are trapped in a complex that doesn't hire a snowplow, etc. etc.

This is not an attempt to seek personal attention. This is about carpooling to help others have an enjoyable Christmas with their families. I thought this thread might actually be a practical & helpful way to resolve that problem.

I am suppose to be going to Maple Ridge for dinner also
Is it just you?
I have a 4X4 and it has been no problem today
I may have room for one only as it is now I have four in the vehicle tomorrow
however if any of my family goes another way there may be more.....
Right now the truck is out in POCO for the evening and had no problem getting there

^^^Yup, it's just me, a sack of gifts for the kiddies & an overnight bag. I'm spending today with my boys as they have other plans for tomorrow ... & they know it's best to come home on Christmas Eve 'cause that's when Santa fills their stockings.

I don't need a ride back as I'll just hang out in Maple Ridge until the snow clears up & someone there will drive me home. Besides the family festivities are bound to go on for several days.
