| monitor problems Posted: 6/22/2005 3:24:43 PM | Anything magnetic or like a fan's motor in that area? Something that can be moved farther away?
Otherwise, I'd say yes. | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/22/2005 4:05:18 PM | | Let us know if you can t figure it out. If there's nothing metallic near the monitor, there's a few other things you can try. Not much hope they'll work, but there is a slight chance. | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/22/2005 4:07:45 PM | As 'Xander' states above, Magnetics nearby is the first thing to check for, such as Non-Shielded Speakers that have been moved in too close to the Monitor.
Also check your Monitor settings, there is usually a set of buttons for that at the front.
After that, either select another Monitor Driver, or pull/re-install the one for your Model.
If that doesn't do it, un-install/re-install your Video Card Drivers.
Next, power down both Computer & Monitor, dis-connect the Power for both for about 15 minutes, re-connect, re-boot your machine and see if that did the Trick.
After that, try physically taking out your Video Card and re-inserting it. This sometimes properly 're-seats' the Card after having come a little dis-lodged by thermal Movement, having bunked into the Machine, etc.
Many Computer Shops also service Monitors if none of the above Actions have resolved the Problem. You could also try another Video Card.
On the very rare occasion I have found 'scratch & re-install' the Operating System has worked, esp. after the machine had been struck by a virus.
Hope this helps. | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/22/2005 4:55:08 PM | | i had my external cable modem pretty close to the monitor and I have a used printer near it, but other than that...nothing | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/22/2005 5:32:12 PM | | Also there should be a button on the front, it will degauss the monitor (if its crt) when you press it, it will make the screen shake which is normal. Try that, but I'd be more inclined to say the monitor is on the way out. | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/23/2005 6:47:07 AM | | all i have is a select button , menu and up and down tabs.... | |
|
| monitor problems Posted: 6/23/2005 7:51:30 AM | | Got a manual on it somewhere? Might be a lot easier than someone trying to guess how to degauss. Hundreds of monitor types, dozens of methods depending on manufacturer/model. | |

| monitor problems Posted: 6/28/2005 10:52:47 AM | Look for some sort of display on the monitor's menus which extends into the area that's turning green. If the menu looks greenish also, then you can rule out the video card. (The video card is not likely to be the culprit here, actually.)
If it was a magnet that caused the problem, there's a good chance it won't go away by itself. Uh, you can actually fix this problem (if it was magnetism)... but it's a bit tricky and I wouldn't recommend it to a novice. What I've done in the past is to take another magnet and sort of stroke the monitor with the magnetic field and watch how it changes the colours. Then use that information to change the colours back to what they should be. Kinda scary, eh? Like I said, not for the faint of heart. :)
