I think that my kids would really like something like this! The no bake part is attractive considering that that is all I have done for Christmas the last month!

| YUMMY! No Bake Cookies-Who else loves these? Posted: 1/2/2009 6:58:01 PM | | I learned how to make these in home ec, and the story behind them is that they actually used to be called "preacher cookies" because in the days of preachers making house visits, these cookies were quick and easy to make whenever that unexpected preacher came over. You'd always have somethign to serve with the coffee and it takes about the same amount of time to make. | |

| YUMMY! No Bake Cookies-Who else loves these? Posted: 1/4/2009 6:08:29 PM | Mat ~ Thanks for the no-peanut butter recipe you posted. I did them just a bit different,, sorta cleaned out the freezer of small amounts of baking supplies left from the holidays. I found a bag with a cup of coconut, so I put that and the oats in a dry skillet and toasted lightly. Wow, they smelled good! Then, I found a bag with butterscotch chips, so I mixed them with the chocolate chips. Both kinds of chips were frozen, so little bits of them didn't melt completely, when mixing,, yummm... Next, I found a bag with half a cup of brown sugar, so I used that and 1 1/2 cups white sugar and added a pinch of salt. My kids tried to get me to let them just eat out of the mixing bowl and skip putting them on waxed paper to cool! These are really good, they love them!

I'm starting to make a batch now-just finished some banana nut bread.
I'm going to try a few different things...a splash of almond, a splash of mapline, and I'm going to use hersheys DUTCH imported cocoa powder and toss in half a bar of hersheys "special dark". Will let you know how they turn out!
