| | POF auto-sends photos I did not select!Page 1 of 1 | I recently sent an email to a couple people here who, I was unaware, did not accept mail from people without a photo posted.
As I had photos on my account but no no primary photo posted (at that time), POF went ahead and attached either one or all of my private photos to the email, because the user had that restriction!
ACCCCKKKK..... I'm sure this was done in auto fashion but I might not choose to show every photo to every gent - or even contact a person at all if I am trying to lie low.
Please fix this feature or at least tell people it might happen. It's an invasion of privacy. Leave the decision of what to show, up to the user. | |

Posted: 1/4/2009 1:27:09 PM | I have had this happen a few times, and I find it rather embarassing. I was contacting someone conserning a forum post, and in went all my pictures.
I'm not sure why it's happening but I sure hope it gets fixed rather quickly. My pictures are sent to people dependant on what my email is about. Usually I don't send any they can just see my main or go to my profile. | |

Not necessarily probably just the ones that posted to that particular thread.
so why does POF keep it?
Because at one time there was a lot more people that didn’t like getting messages from members with no photos in fact there are still people that complain a lot about POF not requiring everyone to post a photo on their profile.
Maybe because POF just doesn't care?
Probably more of POF not figuring that people would bother uploading photos even private ones that they would be “embarrassed” for others to see in the first place. At one time you could message people with that filter even if you had all photos hidden. People even complained about that because some people assume anyone not willing to show a photo publicly has something to hide, that perhaps those hidden photos weren’t really of them. You just can’t please everyone, the site tries to provide a lot of features for the majority of members.
There is nothing to fix, this particular feature works exactly the way it is programmed to work. | |

Your Assumption that "NO ONE liked this feature" is incorrect. Its obviously not liked by those who don't have Profile Pics, but preferred by those who don't want contact from such Users.
People were requesting for Years how to block others who do not have Pics visible on their Profile.
 | Either put up a Pic, get all the hidden ones attached or don't expect your Message to get through. |

Posted: 1/6/2009 5:02:31 PM | I'm completely okay with getting a message saying "You are blocked from messaging this user because you have no public photo on your profile," just like "You are blocked because this user only allows messages from men" (people under 50) (people within 100 miles) etc.
I'm not completely okay with no warning on the photo upload page about how this works. It shouldn't surprise anyone. Ir surprised me and several other users.
This is par for the course at POF though. "Beggars can't be choosers, if you don't like it, go to ( * * * SPAM LINK snipped * * *) 
Do read the Acceptable Use & Posting Rules at the top of any forum with respect to posting Spam links - those are plainly written and didn't seem to help you! - Trappedonbayst | |

Posted: 1/7/2009 12:32:32 PM | I can fully understand attaching the main picture that the profile has up, but private pictures as well. If someone has their picture hidden then it would be nice if the filter would pick up just one, not all.
Possibly have the filter set so your main can be checked, but have a hidden box beside the main pic box. | |

Posted: 1/8/2009 2:35:47 PM | If I am correct, it will only do this if you do not choose at least one photo to be sent with your email. If you choose one as an attachment to your email message when sent, that is the only picture that will go through.
If you just send an email with no picture attached, and the one you are sending it to has that restriction, all your POF pictures will be attached automatically because you did not choose one for yourself.
My suggestion is that you look at the profile before sending a message and see what restrictions are there, and adjust accordingly......

"You photos will be attached to the message you are about to send, due to the mail restrictions of the recipient. Do you wish to continue?" and be offered a Send or Cancel button. | |

I agree (even for us old timers), it took me a while to figure out that the system automatically attached all my pictures to an email if the recipient would not accept emails from people without pictures.. Lots of tweaking to do on this site, thats for sure. | |
