| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 5:50:34 AM | I think makeup is nice as an enhancement. If it is used as an enhancement then I think not, especially if it is caked on. IMO the best time to see the physical natural beauty of women is when they are first waking up in the morning.

well which is it?
My opinion, natural is the best... I kinda feel bad for guys, because if they go out and meet a girl and they think she's hot (because she's wearing a ton of make-up) what's the guy gonna think once he sees her with no makeup?'
That's usually the part where the guy gnaws off his own arm to get of there before she wakes up...

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 6:25:57 AM | I honestly, rarely wear makeup. I occasionally will put it on as a little ego boost or because I'm going somewhere where I might want to "look a bit better" but most of the time I just don't really care that much about it. I long ago decided that reality is much better than fantasy on so many levels ...I'd rather have a guy like me with all my flaws than to be constantly worried that he'll run if he finds out who I am ... | |

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 6:33:38 AM | I don't wear make up for men. I wear it for me. When I feel like it. Your post contradicts itself. What are you talking about? There only pretty in the morning if they washed off all that make up they had on the nite before. Waking up in make up is gross. I think you need to take your 2 cents back. Get a refund. | |

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 6:49:01 AM | Contradicts what? Never implied that makeup is worn for men, just when and how much is worn (you may want to read again).
I stated in the post ~ IMO for the best time to see a lady's natural look is in the morning.
I think I will leave my 2-cents (lol)

Read the first post. Which one is it???????????
Now I'm taking my two cents back.

My 2 cents? Well, I think perhaps you should find a woman that wears (or is willing to wear) her makeup just the way you tell her she shou...ehh... I mean, the way you like it and think it should be worn by ALL women as if we're one entity and here only to obey/listen to/and please men. That's my 2 cents.
Okay I lied, that ^ was at least worth 3 cents but it's okay, I always pay my own way so that extra penny is on me;)

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 7:20:29 AM | Uh, Op, admit defeat, you did contradict yourself!
Anyway, I wear almost no makeup and there is never anything on my skin (as in foundation, liquid makeup) can't stand the way it feels. I wear mascara (the woes of blonde eyelashes), some blush and, if I remember, lipstick. I confess I am sometimes lazy and don't wear any at all.
I wear makeup for myself. When I look in the mirror and gasp, it's time to put on some mascara and blush. It simply makes me feel better and not like I look like the walking dead. As for anyone else, I really don't care what their reasons are. I am blessed with great skin. Others are not and if the "enhancement" makes them feel better about themselves, gives them a boost in confidence, then I saw go for it! It's not hurting anyone and if it bothers you, move on to the next.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 7:33:21 AM | My idea of "dressied up" makeup is a little black eyeliner, mascara, crimped eyelashes, and some red-tinted lip gloss.
If I'm going all-out, I'll go with eyeshadow as well and skip the tinted lip gloss and go for some blistex on the lips instead.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 7:39:39 AM | Hardly.
I use lip gloss every single day. Many times a day, in fact, so I assume that counts.
When I do wear make-up:
Eyeliner, maybe mascara (but I tend to rub off my make-up so I put on as little as possible), blush & lipstick or gloss.
I don't use a lot of make-up except perhaps at Hallowe'en.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 9:04:04 AM | The last time I tried to use eyeliner I nearly poked my dang eye out!! Since I live in a subtropical environment I never wear the stuff. You can't enjoy any water sport without that dang stuff melting off your face and there's enough waste going into our oceans without allowing Maybelline adding to it.
When I lived up North I paid $17.00 or higher just for lipstick!! Image was important where I lived (in the Washington, DC area) at the time and now I wish I had that dang $17.00 back to add to a down payment I want to put on a jet ski or a boat.
I think I look fine without the stuff but I never, ever go out of the house without sporting a 30 spf on my face and lips (clear, of course). When I begin to start scarin' the locals with the "natural look" though, then I'll get back to ya'.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 9:41:01 AM | My experience has been that women that start using makeup earlier in life also learn how to take care of their skin. I admit having the fair complexion and freckles, I probably have more concern about the sun than most. I started wearing makeup when I was 12. I try to take care of my skin. I wear makeup when I leave my house and seldom around the house, but always moisturize.
Makeup is fun! I wear it for myself. It isn't any kind of a trick. I think the biggest difference between me with and without is that you can see my eyes. Yup, those red eyelashes so don't show up with out liner and mascara.
I lived in Miami and I know exactly what the one poster said about make up not working in the heat. The minute I got out of my car, it would melt. I did primarily powders then over my sunscreen. The evening was about the only time makeup would stay on my face, so really that is when I pretty much wore it.
I wash my face before I go to bed, so if I am in a relationship, he sees what I look like before bed. I also swim and don't wear makeup when I go swimming.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 10:31:26 AM | Momma always "put her face on" first thing in the morning. So did her momma. And how bout it, I do too.
As long as Tammy Faye Baker (or anyone with similar techniques) was not your teacher for the how to put on makeup lesson, its all good.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 10:42:38 AM | I might wear a little eyeliner, and this is going to sound silly, but I only wear mascara because I have really long, curled eyelashes which have a tendency to curl into my eyes. The mascara keeps them from doing this.
Vaseline is what I use for gloss - it doesn't add colour, but it just enhances slightly, while also protecting your lips and keeping them moist.
Honestly, if you can look at a woman and the first thing you notice is that she is wearing makeup, than she hasn't done it properly - at least that's what I was always taught lol

I'm with just em....but I've had to have four precancerous growths removed. I was left with a visible scar on my chin-luckily the others were smaller and aren't that noticeable.
I have the lighter eyebrows & eyelashes, so I use pencils on them, some mascara, always wear something on my lips (chapstick/lipstick) and I will use power to help cover the small scars - but all of this is only if I'm going 'out'. I don't do this on an everyday basis (except the lip care). I also always try to remember the sunscreen when going outside. I use them as an enhancer but I use them for me. It makes me feel better about myself.

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 10:51:34 AM | I hear men say they don't like makeup but they sure do flock around the women who wear it. "Not when she is my property" so other men won't look at her is what that sounds like.
Everyday I wear foundation, masscara, liner, blush, and lipstick. It's not spackled on with a hint of pink. That's whether I have a date or not. I don't wear it for him. The same with clothes. If I feel sexy, it's sexy makeup with cat eyes, claws, and blow job red lipstick. It's good to live in a free country.

So, pick one????? I would concur that most do not find the "caked on" style very attractive (Kabuki 101.) As an enhancement, yes. I use very little if any, make up at all. It's just not my style nor my taste. I generally don't like the way it feels on my skin. It depends upon where I'm going and what the event is. Day to day......sans make up. (I'm in the water and at the beach a lot so this has something to do with it as well.)

| When do you use makeup and to what extent Posted: 1/11/2009 11:11:59 AM | Like other ladies here, I almost always wear mascara because I was cursed with nearly blonde eyelashes and without mascara on I just look wrong. Having such dark hair and features and nonexistent eyelashes looks horrible, a swipe of black mascara makes me feel a million times better. I was actually considering eyelash tinting but Im not sure how much I trust having dye on my eyeballs. | |
