| | Is there a dating season?Page 1 of 2 (1, 2) | | Here we are...in the dark days of winter in the northern hemisphere. The northern US states and Canada are in the middle of a deep freeze. Do people tend to go into hibernation during the winter months? Does the season impact your desire to go out and date? Will the onset of spring bring the bears out of their caves? | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 8:28:09 PM | Most likely. I have noticed women to be more receptive in the spring. I would think that with valentines day comming they wouldn't want to be alone, but maybe they just figure it's akward to start so soon before it.(to hang out or not to hang out.)
Yes, spring time is the time for loving.(at least that's what I keep telling myself!)

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 8:41:59 PM | I go back to my cave in the winter and hibernate like a bear. I am crabby all winter as I struggle to work 2 jobs. This disturbs my slumber and I do not like to be awakened unless the house is burning down.
But, I must deal with work and life. I have SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder--like seasonal depression due to lack of sunlight.

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 8:45:16 PM | | Honestly... springtime DOES make a difference. Pheromones kick into overdrive, the clothes start to shed, people start to drive with their windows open , music blaring (today's mating call...). We're all animals no matter how you look at it. Didn't you ever see Bambi? | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 8:46:53 PM | | I dunno... I'm more likely to play online when the weather's miserable outside, so technically I'm meeting more people online. I am, however, less likely to want to physically meet given the road conditions... pretty silly when the plows haven't been out and it's minus 20. I'm content in my jammies, all snug and warm BUT Groundhog day is in 2 weeks - yippee! I can hardly wait for Spring... green, new awakenings, sunshine and warmth.... Ah. I love Spring. | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 8:49:22 PM | I like to call it hunting season....my male hunting friends appreciate this....hey if they can go hunting why can't we gals?
I think it falls in spring and summer as the prime dating time. Most people are wanting to get out and do things. Although winter can be a good time to date too as I get tired of staying in the house during the cold months so I need a little distraction like dating. My best dates have been during the winter months.

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/18/2009 9:15:50 PM | I agree w/ Candid 1, if the weather outside is frightful........... IF I leave the house for fun, I want to know I can drive home safe. That is the only thing that determines my social life(unless it is below zero out). Otherwise, it can be a good time to look. Hey if retail stores can sell bikinis in January, I can look for a fun spring/summer date. | |

Does the season impact your desire to go out and date?
Some guys avoid serious dating between Christmas and Valentine's Day just to avoid the expected gift buying.

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/19/2009 12:53:07 AM | | I don't know if there's a dating season, but I have certainly noticed a break-up season somewhere between October and March. Probably has something to do with what whothehellknows mentioned, haha. | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/19/2009 8:25:35 AM | Well, I met my guy a year ago during these cold winter days....and we certainly found a way to warm ourselves up. I like the idea of a winter wedding.....but I am not the one getting married....I am the one who officiates. Trudat! | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/19/2009 8:46:35 AM | | I've recently noticed that during winter, to go on a date other than meeting for a drink, lunch, dinner or a movie, there really are not a lot of things to do when it's this cold outside. So, where do people go on dates during the cold season? | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/19/2009 10:05:01 AM | To everything turn, turn, turn; there is a season. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am the cicada of the dating world, because there's always a dormant 17 year stretch in between each date.
Meet me on the mattress and I’ll see ya in the spring!

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/19/2009 10:29:18 PM | | Yes there is, sorta anyway. Its a fact that most breakups occur during the spring season, so during spring and summer, there are a greater number of singles dating around. | |
|
| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/20/2009 4:44:06 AM | ha ha.. the open season on dating occures as soon as you start dating someone else. The more you like the person the more "hunters" are interested in you. ha ha

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/20/2009 5:49:17 AM | | I try not to allow weather to prohibit me from anything. Meeting one jerk after the other, is what has slowed me down!!! It is snowing here, it is cold, it is down right nasty at times, but I still go out and do the same things I do in the summer. I do not want to become a hermit. Ever. The only time I refuse to go out, is if it is nasty snow and ice conditions. And not so much because of me, but for other drivers who cannot seem to slow down in this stuff. | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/20/2009 10:21:39 AM | Well living somewhere with horrible winters, I can attest it does affect what you can do activity wise, specially if you tend to like outdoor stuff the rest of year, it puts a serious cramp in pretty much all of that
But as for just meeting new people online and chatting, I don't think it makes much of a diffrence what time of year, heck it's probably even better when its cold out as people tend to be online more often and you have more chances to bump into someone great.

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/22/2009 4:02:01 PM | I guess we need the warm weather to thaw hearts as well as melt the snow. Unless we decide we can produce our own heat. | |

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/22/2009 5:26:14 PM | Aaahh yes, its great to be alive and living in sunny southern California

|
| Is there a dating season? Posted: 1/22/2009 5:45:37 PM | I think there is much validity to that ... I know many people , myself included, who tend to hibernate during the digit icy months of winter....There remains the interest to date but as far as going out having fun .. um my enthusiasm definitely wanes..
Physiologically during the warmer months of spring/summer, libidos rise and people are more inclined to mingle and date and venture from their caves , go out and have fun.. This is supported by the fact that people are wearing less ( and sexier ) clothing as well..
In winter, everyone is so bundled up one must squint to decipher if its a male or woman walkin towards you down the street....lol
*sighs*.. California dreamin..

| Is there a dating season? Posted: 2/16/2009 8:01:26 AM | Some guys avoid serious dating between Christmas and Valentine's Day just to avoid the expected gift buying.
So let the post obligatory gift buying period based on archaic social conditioning season begin.

Yup, and it's called Spring Fever...no better feeling in the world than that feeling of freedom, fresh air, and well, those naughty pheromones that come out of hibernation.
Just out of curiosity, since Californians have nice weather all year, do they kinda miss out on the whole Spring Fever feeling that those of us in colder climates get to enjoy?
|
| Is there a dating season? Posted: 2/16/2009 9:11:09 AM | ^^^^ Absolutely not. Spring fever and our naughty hormone/pheromones levels are always at full throttle, quite alive and doing well 24/7/365
