| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:19:46 PM | A coworker arrived in a rant a few days ago, shaking her head about her boyfriend. Her car window had been giving her trouble lately, and it was –22 degrees outside. Her boyfriend wanted to put the window down for *whatever reason*, but she asked him not to, explained the window situation and that she couldn’t afford to get it fixed just yet. In a nutshell, despite her explaining, then asking, then begging, then muttering, then snapping, then finally calling him a dumba$$, he still insisted on forcing the window down. And of course, as anticipated, now it won’t go back up and she’s stuck driving around freezing until her budget permits her to get the repair done.
What had me in stitches though, was his comment while he was insisting on forcing the window down, “Back off…this ain’t my first rodeo, and I know what I’m doing!”
I know I’ve been in similar situations to this in the past as well…so are these S/O's genuinely trying to help and show off in a way in cases like this, or do they just think we’re truly mental midgets that don’t know what we’re talking about???
Edit: This isn't meant to be gender-specific in any way though :)

I agree that some of them think because we are women we don't know anything, also some have to be in control. You maybe havn't lived long enough OP to figure some of these creatures out,
It's OK guys we still Love you..

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:24:28 PM | Yanno... I always find it so endearing when a manly-man decides that he knows how something I own works better than I do... then proceeds to fooster with the fvcking thing leaving me with an extra repair bill...
Considering it's not his first rodeo, I'm gonna guess that boy has been tossed off the bull and landed on his head a time or two...
Can you ask him for us... pullllease?
|
| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:28:57 PM | | It may not be his first time at the rodeo AND I am sure it is not his first time displaying his HUGE ego and know it all attitude. While I am sure he thought he could fix it, guys are fixers ya know and I am sure he meant to help, I have to ask, did cowboy here offer to help with the repair bill? | |

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:30:25 PM | | If he is such a bull head know it all, why didn't he fix the window back up for her after the journey? it's not rocket science to take off the door panel and even if only temporary, manually wind the window up, until whatever part of it is broken can be replaced. | |
|
| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:35:18 PM | That is hilarious!
It's definitely a control issue.
My bf says. "what do you want from the store, babe?"
I tell him.
He comes back with what he thinks I should have from the store.
It always has to be a bargain or bought with a coupon.
It can't be what I specifically asked for.
I lose my mind and he spends the night explaining why he is right.
Drives me nuts.
Oh yeah and they think we should not be trusted with sharp objects,
That may be true for me after he comes back from the store with cut rate crap.

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:35:31 PM | I really think most men want to show us they are men with skills( think Tim Allen on home improvement! lol!) I guess all we can do is enjoy the "I told you so" and try to love em anyway! | |
|
| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:37:44 PM | | BTW, had this problem with my window, if you can push it up with your hands you can keep it up with large suction cups placed at the bottom of the window. | |

No offense OP but if you look at the world and how soft we treat women, you'll see that's how females have the little power they have. Your gender must be treated softer, females ARE softer Mmmmmmmmmm like soft....

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:45:03 PM | I so understand and I can't stand people like that. Is there like some missing screw that tells them to stop, respect other people's property and wishes? Can you imagine being that ignorant and annoying? ACK!!! I remove people like that from my life very swiftly, but alas, when they are relatives, it's not as easily done.
Now if I had done something that stupid, no matter how I had to get the money, I would get it fixed for her and apologize profusely! I sure wouldn't date the jackass nor let him get away with it. Ugh

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:49:49 PM | lol!
Its a LOT different just watching a rodeo then riding the bull...... (wink)

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 1:57:14 PM | I have a few EXCELLENT comments: This is a poor, poor, pity me thread; this is a whiney thread; this thread is to get attention; this thread is a trolling post; this thread has been done to death; please do a thread search BEFORE you go posting; please vote to have this thread deleted! And BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, among others.
These are the comments/statements that females ALWAYS make, complaining and ranting about MANY of the male's subject's that male's post! Just had to point this out, since we males see this each and every day here on the POF forums. As you females always say, what is good for the gander is also very good for the goose! Fair is fair.
On topic: Gee! He was just trying to be helpful!

I have a few EXCELLENT comments: Uhmmmmm... did you stay up all night thinking of those comments and just waiting in eager anticipation of being able to post them onto a thread?
You must feel so proud of yourself... kinda like the cowboy that 'fixed' the window huh?

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:03:21 PM | People that do what he just did is called a cowboy in OZ
A plumber that plumbs your house and you end up with leaks everywhere is called a cowboy .
Some one that reckons he can fix your bike and fuks it up is a cowboy
The list goes on | |

Oh, definitely, Msg #12....but didn't you see that I also added that this wasn't meant to be gender-specific in any way? I was just using the story as an example because it happened recently.
Or should I assume that what you were really saying with all that was, that you've never seen a woman do anything dumba$$ed before? Should that surprise me though?
|
| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:05:41 PM | Now, now ladies, admit it. We do it too. Haven't you ever seen a woman watching the male in her life doing something, and she is constantly telling him he is doing it wrong, or asking why is doing something the way he is doing it?
I have some younger neighbors, and I'll swear, the way the wifey behaves when he is cleaning the pool, you would think the poor hubby didn't have the sense God gave a stump.

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:06:27 PM | Well Psssst, you can certainly tell that this isn't sestruth's first rodeo!
YeeHa Yippidy! Giddyup! Rope them dogies!
Pazoozoo, I admit nothing! I stay true to my gender. Let the flame war commence.
Ohthereugo, that is funny thanks for the Aussie tidbit.

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:10:32 PM | The promotional slogan from small contractors comes to mind: I fix it what your husband repaired. I rarely argue with stubborns, they always win by the experience. If he knows what he is doing... then, there is no discussion to carry on. He... shall... fix it. | |

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:18:31 PM | This happened with my old jeep. I drove to Canadian Tire, bought a screwdriver, went back to the car park, took the door off and lifted the glass back up. No big deal - but it was a wrm summer evening and I had nothing else going on. I could have afforded to have it fixed but didn't want to wait for an appointment with my window down inviting thieves in the meantime. The track was broken so it was temporary but worked. She can do it too. Tell her not to act so helpless and just get it done.
BTW there are some plastic clips on the inside of the panel so if she can do it in a warm garage that would be best so they don't snap off in the cold.
Alternatively she could get Mr Rodeo to do it pronto (although I'm not sure I would trust him with my plastic clips lol) or maybe she just needs to do it herself and tan his hide for fun after while she's at it lol.

Ohthereugo, that is funny thanks for the Aussie tidbit. Ha... and I was thinking of Dorthy when he mentioned Oz...

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:24:36 PM | | Wow this is so true. Men don't like listening to women period. My ex husband would ignore me every chance he had but if someone else asked him the same thing - he'd do it for sure..................LOL | |

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:33:32 PM | | She should have slapped his hands and told him not to touch or else.....Gawd, some men are just like toddlers who have to touch until it really is broken. | |
|
| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:36:22 PM | My ex was just like that. Bull headed know it all that loved to mess things up and leave me to fix it.
I used to have 9 horses. Three of them stallions. I very rarely ever used a schooling whip because they bite like hell even with a medium slap and it breaks trust to bully a horse but a little tap here and there is helpful when schooling them and they respect it if you are gentle but firm lol. Mostly you never have to use it except for teaching dressage with very light taps as an extension of your leg or hand if you are schooling from the ground. But I digress.
Anyway, one day I had this new long schooling whip in my hand and I was flicking it through the air making a whipping sound and my clever ass ex thought he was too fast for me so he stuck his rump out at me and told me to try and take a hit.
Ha ha ha. I've been schooling horses that are a lot faster than him since my teens and I don't miss.
I laid a stroke on his ass so hard he could not breathe for a minute or two and I laughed so hard I couldn't either.
Didn't cure his stupid attitude but it was worth it anyway.

| This ain't my first rodeo!!! Posted: 1/24/2009 2:45:26 PM | Sing it with me... R_E_S_P_E_C_T that is what you mean to me...
Yeah, see, because if he respected her, he would have respected her wishes and left the dam* window alone. Instead he pulled the power play and did it anyway.
Grrrr...
Dated someone like this. ONCE. Once was enough.
Honestly I would have been furious in this situation. My car, my rules. Don't touch my dam& window if I tell you not to. Do what you want ot your freakin' car.
To me, it's about respect. He totally disrespected her...just like toddlers do when Momma says "don't touch" and they do it anyway while watching her to see her react.
I don't date toddlers, thank ya
