Posted: 2/1/2009 11:26:45 PM | I was watching television today and noticed that so many actresses have their lips pumped up with botox or what ever it is, quite often the top lip..
It makes me laugh every time I see someone that has had it done. They look abnormal, weird, out of proportion, fake and down right stupid..
Why on earth would anyone want to look like this?
Do they honestly think that no one will notice that their lips are fake and look like a puffer fish? Are they really that dilluded that they think they look better to look like a blow-up-doll?
What are your thoughts? Personally I wouldn't go near anyone that thinks they need cosmetic surgery, implants, or injections to make themselves look better. It just suggests that they have a low self image, low self esteem or they think that guys will like them more. Plus I wouldn't want to walk around with a puffer fish by my side 
Leave the cosmetic surgery for the people that really need it, you know, the people that have birth defects, accidents or some other medical condition that would require it. | |

Posted: 2/1/2009 11:52:36 PM | Could not agree with you more and yeah, Puffer Fish is the first thing i think of when i see it! lol The 2 women who come to my mind right off who've had this done is Lisa Rinna and Hunter Tylo. YUCK! These are 2 women who were simply gorgeous (my opinion) before their procedures and now? ick!! Thats what vanity will get ya tho...*shakes head*
I work nights so i watch daytime tv. Hunter Tylo (an actress on Bold and Beautiful) was pretty well known for having full, sexy, beautiful lips. She went and had her lips injected and also had plastic surgury done and OMG,,,,she totally ruined her gorgeous looks. Well,,she's still beautiful, but its more in an 'oddly deformed' beautiful way. lol | |

I think it is a kind of insecurity. They are shoring up their personality against attack knowing that they have done everything they think society deems necessary to ensure that they are considered attractive.
Tanorexia like anorexia (and the addition of phony plump lips) has little to do with what the young woman actually sees in the mirror and more to do with what she imagines she sees in the mirror i.e. someone ugly or fat. | |

Hmm... Yeah.. the fake tans.. Orange really isn't a good colour.. These people must use different mirrors to the ones I look in..
The sad thing is.. No one (their friends and family) are ever honest with them and tell them that they look like a fool.. a freak of nature...
If you have white skin.. then you have white skin.. just accept it and be happy with it.. Or end up like a shriveled up prune with cancerous lumps all over your skin.. | |

If a person wants to get plastic surgery and can afford it then really the only person who is allowed to have a say is the person having the surgery and their doctor. Plenty of people have had cosmetic surgery and came out looking much better then they did before, myself included. I had a nose reminiscent of Barbara Streisand's and hated it all my life. The difference after was astonishing. I would not go back to my old nose for all the money in the world.
Oh and Angelina Jolie's lips are all natural. I watched a special Barbara Walters did on her and they had pictures of her at all ages with those same huge lips. | |

OP -- Oh c'mon now...you know the answer to that already...
They do it because some magazine tells them to. 'Cause some TV program tells them to. 'Cause they see their friends and competition gettin' men and figure this is the "secret". This ain't rocket science here.
Personally, I think the fakers are ridiculous and repulsive. Nothing LESS sexy than fakeness...'specially fake ass pumped up lips and orange freakin' skin. 
I have naturally full lips and light bronze skin. No injections. No tanning beds, sun time or Fake-a-bake. Thanks a lot folks.

My skin has a little pink in it, so it does look like a fresh tan to some. I'm just sayin... Maybe it's best for us to not be so judgemental until we have all the facts.
But I do agree that some of those enhanced lips can look over-done. Yes, there is a thing as TOO MUCH cosmetic surgery. But other tines, it may be a help. And orange skin just looks.... well, Orange. | |

Posted: 2/2/2009 7:30:16 AM | I would be very curious to hear of someone famous who people think is sexy or beautiful. Cosmetic surgery has been around a long time. It has only recently, in the last 10 yrs. or so, become affordable for the run of the mill person, so we hear more about it.
IMO, I think most people would be very surprised if they were aware of how many people they actually know have had procedures to enhance their appearance. | |

The issue should not be enhancement; it should be excessive enhancement, which most people would agree is not a good thing. I can't help but wonder how their facial structure is going to hold up as they age. I figure that God figured out exactly how to put us together, and there isn't much room for deviation... if you grind off the "real you", what's gonna be left when you're older.

We all age and get wrinkles.. Its a part of life.. People need to simply accept this.. Once they start the ops then they continue to do them until your face falls off..;o)...They are never happy..
I wasn't talking about Angelina, I know her lips are hers.. You can tell the difference between fake and real.. Fake ones always look like they have a fat lip and the stupid unnatural look.
My ex sister-in-law had a boob job and now will have to go back I think it was 3 or 4 times over her life-time to have them adjusted. Skin stretches and they sag, so therefore, another operation to perk them pack up again. Plus how many people have destroyed their lives from boob jobs? Who would want that..I think small boobs are better than NO boobs..People need to learn how to be happy with their body and how they look.. Remember, there is always someone that looks worse than you..and there is always someone that will love you for who you are..
Do you not think that by trying to make yourself look "better" (what is better?), bigger boobs, sexier lips etc, you are only going to attract shallow people that think looks are whats important. When those looks fade, they will be onto the next one...
Hmm Jackson is an extreme case of negligent doctors that think only of the $$$.. The guy needs therapy not surgery.. A good surgeon will have their patient undergo a psychological test to determine whether they are of sound mind and not just wanting surgery because they have self issues.. Surgery will not take those away.

Personally I think its pretty easy to pick a fake tan.. Natural tans and skin colours look great and they look normal for that person..
Its sad that we are teaching our kids that if you don't look like the actor on tele (with lighting, makeup, photoshop etc) then go to the surgeon and make yourself look like them.. Take away your identity and replace it with shallowness and fakeness..
We should be teaching our kids to be happy with who we are and that the actors on television are just fake and dress up for the camera's.. The size 0 models should be run off the catwalk and stop all this brainwashing of our children that if your not a size 0 then your fat... Its in school as young as first grade, children looking at themselves saying.. "I look fat".. but they are in fact skinny... This is SO wrong and modeling agencies, magazines and the media should be hung up by their balls..They shouldn't encourage models to get boob jobs and botox etc, they should be saying, "if you have cosmetic surgery, we don't want you". We want the natural look in a person.
I can see that in the future when scientists can safely grow organs, skin etc from our own stem cells, there will be a market in growing "new" faces from our own stem cells and replacing our birth face with a lab grown one..
Honestly people, where is this world going to?
Leave the surgery for people that "genuinely" need it. The poor kids born with deformed fingers, arms, faces etc.. The people that can't eat because of the shape of their mouth. The people that can't function because of some malformation of their body. These are the people that plastic surgery helps, not the people that can't accept that we all get old and get wrinkles..
Exercise, eat healthy and don't bake your skin in the sun.. These are natural ways to keep you looking great and keep your skin looking good for the age that you are. | |

I can tell celeb nose jobs easily. They look incredibly small and weird.
I've seen a lot of photos of celebs with obvious nose jobs as well; but I don't think one can always tell. Take a look at Jennifer Grey, for instance. She had her nose reshaped sometime after her rise in Dirty Dancing, but the surgery didn't turn out properly and she had it redone. To look at her, you wouldn't know it's the same girl at all...but her nose doesn't look *odd*...it just makes her look like a different person. Apparently she now regrets ever having it done.
Many times someone will crave plastic surgery to change something about their looks that they are unhappy with, not realizing that they are actually trying to change, or *fix* something that is more psychological in nature. Granted, not everyone will be dissatisfied with changing or fixing a physical feature surgically, but it is sad that in today's society we are so conditioned to look perfect, as designated by Hollywood and the fashion industry, that we no longer can accept our own selves, warts and all. If you aren't a certain size, height, weight, figure, look, you are considered flawed...and that is mainly a self-designation brought on by what we are bombarded with through the media.
Inner beauty is highly underrated, and overlooked, in the quest for physical perfection...and we suffer psychologically as a result of that quest. | |
