I just joined so excuse the profile, will update later when i have a better feel for this thing.
Anyway, Im fed up dating good looking high maintenance girls, so i have decided to downgrade to average hoping they are more down to earth and fun and from your profile and pics you look and sound just the type :-)
How could ANY guy think this is EVER going to please a girl? You're so average, I'm downgrading and you'll do. What is this? What what what? I just don't understand men sometimes! Although I have to say she held her own, shall we see how this conversation develops? (I laughed my tree off and think you will too)

If you think that telling a girl she is average is the way to get her attention then I think you should try another dating site where you could find someone a bit more compatible with yourself. I suggest the RSPCA.

The girl is supposed to be overcome with interest in this guy who isn't chasing her because of her beauty (something she is used to). She is then supposed to chase him to convice herself that she is still beautiful as he pretends to back away. It is sort of reverse psychology. Obviously, it doesn't work online. | |

I bet it works for him in person, but as BBWlove points out, it doesn't work so well on line.

Back when I was around 20 (before the internet rained hell on earth), I'd met a guy through where I worked. Beautiful guy, hot body, and I knew that there was something...... wrong with him. Turns out he was in a motorcycle accident and had had PT to regain 90% of his faculties. The 10 % that he was missing? It controlled his critical thinking. So this guy called one night and started going on about women in his past. That he'd dated the most beautiful girls, the ones that were great in bed and how badly they'd treated him. That he wanted to try something different. In startled horror and amusement at what he'd said, I hung up the phone and started laughing. Understanding that he meant that I wasn't his usual gorgeous g/f material and that he assumed that I'd be a lousy lay. But to have a guy say that the only reason that he was willing to date me was because I was "different" from the snotty princesses that he'd had before? LOL! It's one of the funniest back-handed compliments ever given to me. To this day if I need to feel better about something, I pull that outta my memory banks and get a chuckle out of it! | |

It could turn out to be one of the biggest ass hat comments of the year, but man that is some funny shet!
It's one thing to have such thoughts, but to use it as a pick up line? 
And come on about the male ego now ladies.
I probably find it so funny because of all the "standards" and "requirements" a lot of women seem to have. If feeling you deserve way more then most men have to offer isn't ego and false pride I don't know what is!

Actually what you say above is true. What the guy was doing is practicing what he thinks is negging. However, when doing live, the recipient realizes a key element of doing this successfully and that is funny, when morons like this just get down nasty, they achieve nothing.
Negging, however does work. But the key is not to piss off the recipient but to make her think and make her answer you.
For instance, when I was dating I had a line that worked quite well, and it was simply to ask them "Are you a geek?" Many women just had to answer this question, some admitting that they were kind of geekish and others wondering what gave that impression. Then, because the dialogue would begin, you could take it to other areas. Again, all for fun. | |
