| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 10:08:15 AM | I have noticed that many, many, of the profiles I read of guys over 50 show them with their motorcycles! Harleys, Honda Gold Wings, etc. etc. Big, beautiful motorcycles shined up all nice and pretty! I find myself wondering whether or not they have always had a passion for motorcycles and have just worked their way up from tote goats and dirt bikes to these $20,000 (??) ego fulfilling machines!
Now, please! Before all you guys blast away, let me assure you that if motorcycles float your boat, more power to you! Not being a motorcycle fan, I can't see the attraction, but that doesn't mean I'm being critical.
The question, since I feel I should actually get to it, is this - If men buy big, honkin, motorcycles, what do women buy?
(It just seems that there must be an equivalent, but I can't come up with it!)

I think men would say women buy shoes. or something like that. I'll be huntin for a new pair of hiking boots real soon too. (I wonder if that counts as shoes)

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 12:13:40 PM | I thought of shoes, but am wondering if that counts! After all, even at my most irresponsible shoe shopping event, I would be hard pressed to equal the cost of even one Harley! | |

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 12:59:38 PM | I just bought a '61 Corvair for a project car...then again..I'm not your typical girly girl...
let's see...
horses....big expensive trips or sabaticals to europe...My mom bought a mustang...I think women tend to buy "experiences," rather than "stuff."

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 2:02:24 PM | | I think the answer is pretty simple! men just go out and buy one large purchase at a time re:motorcycle or boat, etc. It seems as tho women like to buy smaller things, but alot more frequently! re: shoes, clothes, jewelry, nick nacks and ...! this will hopefully be taken constructively and not met with criticism. add up the values over say a 3-5 year period and see where the comparison stands? | |

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 2:13:18 PM | Okay, King, I'll accept that, but - I can't help but point out that I have never once put in a profile that I need a guy who will go try on shoes with me! Note the number of guys who want women who will go cruisin' with them on their bikes compared with the women who ask for guys who will go shoe shopping and/or share a pedicure! | |

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 3:45:37 PM | Oh, Yao! Spoken just like a man who has never experienced the thrill of getting the perfect pair of shoes on sale at more than 50% off!
Shoes also offer the added advantage of not needing special insurance, helmets, and leathers (well maybe leathers) in order to be enjoyed!
Also, no one has ever lost their life in a shoe accident!
Just a couple of pertinent points! (Can you tell I'm not a motorcycle person?)

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 4:38:11 PM | You know... I bet there does exist such a thing as shoe insurance. It's a special thing for those rich folks that pay thousands of dollars for a single pair. :-P
Winstar Family Shoe Insurance 3417 Pennsylvania Cmn Fremont, CA 94536 (510) 818-1694
LMFAO!
And for me... slippers or a nice set of boots wins any day over "shoes"

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 4:47:23 PM | Please stop! I have to look at this and assume that this insurance must be for people who have special orthopedic shoes that cost thousands! Tell me please that there isn't a company that was founded on the basis of insuring Emelda Marcos' shoe collection!
As for me, I admit to an affinity for crocs! (But would never wear them to the office or out on a date! I know! I know! Harkens back to the 50's, 60's, and 70's when all us girls were running around in 6 inch spike heels and platforms which accounts for the number of us with foot problems today!)

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/7/2009 6:12:47 PM | | but a real man that is air to the woman he is with should expect to go shopping if she rides with him on his bike! And, many women do say on their profile that they like to shop! I think they are just too timid to say they want a man that will go with them! I actually love to shop and go through the sale racks with my girl! And believe me im no sissy! How does that grab ya K! cmon kat ur supposed to call me? whats up? | |

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/8/2009 10:16:01 AM | I like shoppin with a man if he's buyin'. Actually I've never been a shopper, unless it's Home Depot(I LOVE that store). I can spend a whole day wondering around Sportsmen's warehouse too. Though I still think it outta be called the Outdoorsmen store instead. Ah well.
Oh and I don't have your number. But you have mine.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/8/2009 11:25:06 AM | I think guys buy bikes because they fulfill several needs at once. It's an ongoing project (planning rides, buying the gear, fixing up the bike, etc.) It's a macho social thing while still being attractive to women. It's a good way to get a woman to press up against them and wrap their arms and legs around them without the involvement of sex. It's a way to relive youth. A chance to ride free and fast. It's fun and competitive, even for guys who can't play sports anymore.
Geez, I'm jealous. I love my pedicures, but they can only do so much. Hmmm..... maybe motorcycles for guys are like spa weekends for girls. I guess if I found a nice guy who would be willing to ride down to Esalen for a few days, he'd be darn near perfect.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 2/21/2009 12:05:52 AM | Motorcycling is a sense of adventure, at any age. Mine isn't clean or big & expensive. But with 47,000 miles in 30 months.... Really, it has been an adventure.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/15/2009 2:32:23 AM | | Motorcycles are good toys. If you want one-get one. Enjoy the ride. But why do men post the toy collection photos? I splurged on a beautiful piano but I never thought about putting it in my profile photo. | |

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/15/2009 1:29:30 PM | $20,000 quilting machines! And some fabric to go along with it. Seriously, I've never gotten the shoe thing. Give me a good sturdy pair of weather-proof shoes for the winter and some Birks or flip-flops for the summer and I'm good. I do have a pair of pumps for dress up, but I must admit they really hurt my feet and I'd rather not wear them.
I've been hit too many times in my car to have any intention of getting on a motorcycle (at least in town and in traffic). If a man wants to ride, that's great. I just would rather not ride too.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/21/2009 2:20:17 AM | I was always one of these "U know they should just call them "Murdercycles" - until, now, in my '50's, I want one.
Nothing big: Maybe a 250cc Honda or something. To ride around on weekends and possibly for work back and forth.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/24/2009 5:53:13 PM | Until you've actually ridden a motorcycle, either as the rider or a passenger, you will have no idea why it is so popular. Not just with men either. More and more women are "saddling up" and heading out on the road. It's a feeling like no other.
So women, what do you do? Find a guy with a motorcycle and go for a ride, you just might get hooked, too!
|
| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/28/2009 5:12:09 PM | There is nothing even close to riding to some unknown destination with no agenda other than being one with the road and all that surrounds it.
For those who have not experiened this theres really no way to describe it. A car trip to the coast for a little get-away time is simply a ride in the car, surrounded by....errr...the car. The same trip on a bike is to live and breathe all that nature is. While a successful shopping trip is, I'm sure, full of excitement and fullfilling as is a hike into the remote, Theres something else undescribable from the back of the machine that only comes from doing it this way. Therapy at its best.

| 50+ Guys With Motorcycles?? What do women do? Posted: 3/29/2009 4:55:11 PM | This is stereotypical rhetoric but....maybe the girl who will ride on the back of your motorcycle = a little less maintanance.
I'm not saying shoes aren't great. Spa days pay off. You sure do look nice when you get your hair done BUT even as a woman I can see the appeal.
The chick on the back of your bike is: 1. Pressed against and wrapped around you 2. Man enough to hang on 3. Not too frilly to get dirty 4. A peace with the possibility of helmet hair 5. Maybe just a lil bit wild 6. Trusts you completely (see: no winshield, doors, or seatbelt) 7. Chicks on bikes are hot 8. See #1

Agreed. I grew up on the back of a bike. My dad used to use a bungee cord as a seatbelt to tie me to the sissy bar when I was 3. I've literally been on the back of a bike since I was barely out of diapers.
I even got married because I fell more in love with his bike than him (at the time they were indistinguishable.)
Not a fan of crotch rockets. I don't care about speed as much as the rambling, roaming, cruising, coasting experience of the open road. I've never learned how to drive one, but it's at the top of my list of things to do before I die.
