Anticipating some lively responses, I ask the POF readers: How long should sex last? What is normal? What would be your preference? I'm not talking about the before and after-- or the different him-him/her-her variations-- but how long should intercourse last between a man and a woman? | |

I dunno, it's all relative, some are over pretty quickly and both are satisfied (that's great!), some are over quickly and only one is satisfied (that's bad!), some go on for ages and both are satisfied (that's the best!!) and some go for ages with no ending for either (that is bad).
As long as you are both ok with the sex then whether it lasts 10 mins or 1 hour doesn't really matter. For example, I had one guy who thrusted away every time for over an hour, it was very repetitive and I ended up more sore than turned on. Another guy would go for an hour and half and I loved every minute of it, wouldn't even know that that time has passed. If it works, it doesn't matter how long it lasts. | |

With a boring woman, I can go for a long time... but there's no enjoyment/fullfillment.
You get a woman that can excite the hell out of you, and visa-versa, then you've got anywhere between 5-20 minutes. :) | |

Sex does not have to end at orgasm. You'd be suprsed how many women lose interest after thier own orgasm, bit perplexing cause it's the guys that get that rep.

#1. Sore
#2. Offended that their guy apparently has no nerve endings on his entire package or she doesn't feel "good" enough for him to cum in a reasonable amount of time.
Any guy that can last an hour and 1/2 is way above and beyond normal. WAYYY. Typical intercourse should last between 5-20 minutes. I mean, my God we're not 17 anymore and we do have other things to do. | |

But I think with foreplay and sex together, an hour or more should be spent. Posted: 2/16/2009 6:47:07 AM | Sex should only last long enough for both participants to be sexually satisfied (ie: having reached climax) and then round 2 or dessert can begin. My ex and I had a very good physical and emotional connection and within 40 mins were both satisfied and fast asleep (that was including foreplay). So I guess it really depends on you and the women you're sleeping with. Foreplay for a woman is key though so if you're into cunnilingus (and good at it), spend some time there getting her nice and hot before you start with penetration.
Great sex can last 40 mins or 4 hours! Enjoy it and don't be too concerned about time.

While I most definitely agree that men who can last longer than a half hour are NOT few and far between...they simply have excellant self control and are considerate of their lover...I think the AVERAGE "session" is definitely under a half hour...probably more in between 10 and 20 minutes!
However....if it is realllllly good....who wants it to end? We can and do have multiples, ya' know...so why not stretch it out....foreplay....sex...back to some foreplay....sex...and so on. :O)

For most women if we have to pump and hold out for the amount of time it took you to cum... or NOT cum... our junk would actually catch fire.
I think it's so funny to hear the guys say they can easily go an hour and how a man is not a man unless he's satisfies a women to orgasm. It's a game we cannot win statistically most of the time.
Have you seen data on the average length of intercourse? Apparently not. I myself am not average, but 30-40 minutes is pushing it. If she cannot cum by then, well... that's why cunnilingus was invented. Learn it... love it.
Look at the data people. Here's an idea... for all the woman that state a dude has to last long to bring her to orgasm or he'll be "launched"... the same could be said that why would we keep you around if it takes 50 minutes-hour for you to cum. I mean, do you have sandpaper down there??? | |

Isn't great sex supposed to be just having fun together and doing whatever comes naturally. By now, I would have thought everyone had learned that some sessions are short, some are long, some are quickies and some are a combo of all of the above. Good sex has no time tables... good sex just happens... Good sex starts long before the bedroom aspect of it... it should have started with little things like a glance, a look, a gentle touch, a kiss, a bath together.... and the list goes on...
Why not quit worrying about the time table factor and just do it for goodness sake... | |

For instance, if a few minutes was normal would the person watch a clock or set an alarm to let them know they should stop regardless whether they were finished or not? Where he stands, like a competition??? !! Something like a marathon??!! Have some spectators at the side of the bed with cups of Gatorade and Powerbars cheering you on! What's next, make it a team sport like a relay??! 
There could be sponsors and people could have advertisements on various parts of their body; the more the sponsor pays, the more prominent the body part. Heck, make it the halftime show at the next Super Bowl! | |
