I like to draw, write music, read (just about everything from Calvin and Hobbes to Dante Aligheri), ride horses, computers (playing simulations mostly), TaeKwon Do (black), Hapkido (red), movies (the kind with catch phrases...I tend to quote movie lines in general conversation if it's funny), backyard astronomy, swimming, and amateur ghost hunting. I'm sure I'll pick up other hobbies on the way.
...see...too much free time...
I think this is a great idea for a thread, jimi77.

| whats your hobbies? Posted: 10/10/2004 9:46:49 PM | Daniel... sound nice. :)
Chelle.... yes it was a combination of aggressively using 3 different herbs... *german* chammomile (I much prefer it to the Roman and it has different medicinal value,) fennel and eyebright along with large doses of vitamin. I would sit up some nights the entire night (when my signt was getting progressively poorer) and I would drink pot after pot after pot of the teas. I also used to use a herbal formula done by a master herbalist for eye problems and I would also bathe my eyes with the teas too. I even would make a tea from the capsules of the formula put together for eye problems and I would bathe my eyes with it too... it contained several herbs, including cayenne.... did it sting? YES but I had read to do it because even though it would sting a little, it said the cayenne would help to stimulate circulation in the eye tissue. Not something I would want to do often though.... ;)
But you won't believe the kicker.... I had started making fennel tea because I knew the virus I had had infected my sinuses badly, including the ones behind my eyes and fennel was supposed to be good for ridding the body of poisons, also good at combatting sinus infections. So I added it to my 'arsenal' for that reason......... NOW YEARS LATER I get that herb program and it had writings from the Middle Ages on fennel saying that it was known to cure lost vision in many a person and that even snakes rub up against the plant to sharpen their eyesight..... amazing eh! And yet in every other herb book I have, it mentions nothing about fennel and the eyes.... even my naturopath knew nothing about it.

| whats your hobbies? Posted: 10/11/2004 2:41:48 AM | Well brundle I was having severe eye problems back when I was 24-28/29 as a result of a very weird virus that mainly attacked my eyes. One doctor told me to get some training because I was going to lose my sight. To this day I still get floaters and I still have the occasional visual disturbance, etc. but I no longer have the problem I did then (uncontrollable pain, eye muscle spasms, aversion to light, inability to focus, non-stop visual disturbances, darkening vision.)
The doctors had tried a lot of drugs on me to no avail. In fact they were using me as a guinea pig, giving me drugs to see if this one or that one would work (including a heart drug) -- I didn't know they were experimenting. But the drugs just screwed my health up more. It wasn't until I refused to take any more antibiotics/painkillers/muscle relaxants (and other assorted drugs they tried) and got aggressive with vitamins and herbs that the eye problems were brought under control.
I would say only one course of medical treatment actually did help me... I had to take a very heavy course of 3 antibiotics at once (2 orally and one nasally) because by the time they discovered the virus had severely infected the sinuses throughout my face and behind my eyes, it was severe and potentially dangerous because the sinus cavities behind the eyes are too near the brain and they were worried about the infection getting to the brain or permanent eye damage. I took those 3 antibiotics for about a month and so much stuff was being flushed out of my sinuses that I had to try to sleep sitting up in a chair.
Needles to say.... this was not the best time in my life! ;)
Natural medicine is great. I have the utmost respect for it. If it had not been for the vitamins and herbs, I believe I would have died at 26.
(And if any of you are wondering, no this is not the illness that I was referring to that happened in 1999.)

| whats your hobbies? Posted: 10/11/2004 2:48:39 AM | Alrighty,..my main hobbies that I always return to are writing, drawing, computer made art, crocheting, teasing and harassing my dog profusely, photo editing, book collecting, online gaming, research of midevil times, sword collecting, computer building and repair, updating my site, learning new programs that involve art, horse back riding, horse care, and fussing about the house. It can always be cleaner.
Other hobbies I have adopted, tuning up my car, home repairs, plumbing, electrical etc etc. Finding new and improved ways to taunt and pester my dog, book binding, curving images in soap stone, jewelry making, sewing (like drapes), making book covers (Leather crafts),playing with beeds to make various things, and candle making.
Things of interest, anything made of wood or bamboo just about (real wood), growing plants and herbs, learning others ideas to spark my own, oh and learning about all the new tools out there to make arts, crafts and hobbies easier. I would really like to learn another language as well, I am thinking spanish and I will be getting into shield collecting soon.
Dream hobbies, traveling to Italy, Franch, Mt. Zion, Egypt etc etc, learning Itialian (dunno why I have such a fascination with Italy but I do) and work for Pixar, Dreamworks. If I did it would mean that I would have one heck of an education =p Can't consider that a job for it is something I love to do. Phew thats a lot of stuff, you would think learning to type would be on one of those list=p
