| Server Error in "/" Application Posted: 3/3/2009 9:52:27 PM | That's the error msg I get when I try to login to check my mail. Should I include the full error msg in this field? I'd like to know what I can do about this so I can access my mail from my home computer, it's getting old and tired trying to figure out who's computer I can get to. Thanks. | |

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source Error:
The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:
1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:
Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.
Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

| Server Error in / Application Posted: 3/9/2009 11:23:17 AM | You aren't the only one. Look at:
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/11897093datingPostpage6.aspx
Read msg 133. Says almost identical to yours.
This is the response from Admin:
Your getting that error because no browser information is being passed to POF.com and normally 99% of pagerequests that do that are from spam bots. I'm not a mod. But I'd say that your browser has security settings on high, and that's stopping browser info being passed to POF. If you are using Internet Explorer, then either enter your internet options, and lower your security level, or enter your internet options, select trusted sites, and add http://www.plentyoffish.com

I have received about 10-15 emails. Now I get that message but it claims to be out of memory. Do you know how I can fix that problem. I was able to delete some of the sent mail .
Not sure if you are talking about your mailbox being full on PoF -or- If your computer tells you its out of memory (virtual memory) _________________________________________
*Im guessing that its an error from your computer because I've never had a mailbox message/error on PoF, (I think if your mailbox is full, they just delete your oldest messages w/out asking)
If your computer says its out of memory/virtual memory, that means it is trying to do too much(your RAM &PageFile are both full)
***try restarting your PC (or full shutdown-then-restart)*** ______________________________________________________
If it continues to be a problem and/or restarting doesn't fix it
>Either Buy More RAM (easiest way & will fix the issue) - see www.crucial.com
-or-
I would suggest 1) limiting the programs that start-up with your computer and 2) uninstalling unused programs (so they wont try to start-up with your pc)
to uninstall programs: Click: Start > Run > type "appwiz.cpl" [enter]
-select programs you want to uninstall and double-click
Restart Your PC ------------------------------------- to manage start-up programs:
Click: Start > Run > type "msconfig" [enter] Select the "Start-Up" Tab (located at top of window that pops up)
Then Un-Check the boxes beside the programs that don't need to start up with your computer ***If you don't know what program the entry belongs to, don't mess with it***
>the most common ones i uncheck are: java or Sun (and anything related to java/Sun) adobe (and anything related to adobe) yahoo (and anything related to yahoo) Microsoft Office (make sure its part of office before disabling) HP Printing (as long as your computer is not a Compaq or HP) ***Do Not Uncheck your Antivirus Program***
When finished, select [Apply] -or- [OK]
& Restart,
*When your computer restarts, you will get a message saying something about configuration options changed >Just Check Box saying "[ ] Don't show again", and Click [OK]
If you are still experiencing issues after the above: >Buy more RAM (memory) -see www.crucial.com
-or- manually increase page file ***not recommended and will likely slow your computer down but you wont get "out of memory" message as often*** if you still want to do it:
-Your page file should be 2.5 times the amount of RAM you have installed>Windows manages the page file by default At Control Panel | System | Advanced, click Settings in the “Performance” Section. On the Advanced page of the result, the current total physical size of all page files that may be in existence is shown. Click Change to make settings for the Virtual memory operation. Here you can select any drive partition and set either ‘Custom’; ‘System Managed’ or ‘No page file’; then always click Set before going on to the next partition. -http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.php

| Server Error in / Application Posted: 5/29/2009 5:18:25 AM | The message means : Server Error in ROOT ( / ) Application.
It can be a catch all error message because you may not have cookies enabled for the web site. As one of the previous posts have mentioned , browser header information is not being passed to the web site , which pretty much sounds like not passing on a web site cookie.
Whatever browser you are using , allow cookies for the web site without the www by using : plentyoffish.com

| Server Error in / Application Posted: 5/29/2009 10:52:34 AM | A great place to get RAM and any other PC needs is www.newegg.com
Best prices, great shipping and great customer service. I've used them for years in my PC repair business and web development business too.
I am not affiliated with newegg in any way, just always found them to be a great place to find stuff.
And in the spirit of shameless self promotion, if you need a website or business logo contact me here.

| Server Error in / Application Posted: 5/29/2009 11:03:36 AM | | This has nothing to do with your PC. It has to do with Plentyoffish servers and the application that is using Asp.net 2.0. Its a standard error message displayed when certain events take place. Unfortunately, they have not setup a pretty error message to tell you that there is a problem on their side and you are seeing the error bubble up through their application. I'm sure it will be fixed , if not already ....soon. | |
