| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/4/2009 10:07:39 PM | Looks like we got us another camping CONVOY!
This SOS is going out to anyone out there in POF land wanting to join your host flyinphil101 and his Good Buddies in another great camping POF adventure .... ! (I'm just the Post Host) ********************************** Details: Friday April 17 - Sunday April 19, 2009 Living Forest Campground Nanaimo on Vancouver Island ********************************** http://www.campingbc.com/ ********************************** All the information about the campground is online at the Living Forest web site above: Directions, site map, pricing for various types of sites from treed tent sites all the way to luxury camping suites for those generator types (RV serviced pull-throughs in case you got excited) Please do not message any of the hosts with questions that are easily answered at the campground web site.
No busy phone lines to deal with- just book yourself a site online wherever you wish in the park! Availability should not be an issue - plenty of sites for plenty of fish. Easy access for islanders and mainlanders.
Bring all the gear, food, poison you need to be self-sufficient in your own camp site. Bring a kayak if you have one. Bring a camping chair (essential!!!) to join the group around a communal fire. We will all eat together on Saturday night - bring something for yourself to barbeque and a potluck dish to share that night - salad, dessert, veggies, potato/rice dish, your special camping treat - whatever.
Upon arrival, stop by site #111 to see FlyingPhil for intro's. He will be there Friday morning.
Any questions? Send a message to flyinphil101 or post it here.
Your cohosts, flyinphil101, Shy2004, Diver Lake Cowboy et moi, Debra2008, can't wait to meet you! 10-4 Following Members are Attending This Party... Average Member Brings Along 3 Guests

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/5/2009 2:39:55 AM | ^^^^^^ Nice to see your face again Cathe and OF COURSE it is nice to see some MORE camping buddies up there too and two who might be babes in the convoy! Yaay! Thanks for your interest!
Re: camping together: The host's campsite is #111. Go to the website posted for the campground and choose a site nearby if you like being with the group. Book online to check availability.
My other guess is you could google RV rentals Nanaimo. Check the campground website link provided with respect to cabins. Don't think so but don't quote me.
Let us know what the website says about cabins when you find out, would you? Thanks.

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/5/2009 6:32:20 AM | | Phil and I previewed this campground yesterday......it is incredibly beautiful. Very close to a good sized strip mall, (I know, doesn't seem right that a campground would be so close to a strip mall, but trust me, you will feel totally immersed in the camping experience, and it's not right next door, just within easy driving distance, on the other side of the Old Island Highway from the campground) with a gas station, Tim Horton's, Country Grocer, 10th Street Pub, to name a few. This is a very very nice campground, complete with power(great for you girls that just cannot be without your hair dryer!!!! LOL), water, sewage disposal, washrooms, showers, laundromat, even a small cafe. Besides the website mentioned above, you could also try www.livingforest.com. It's gonna be a blast! | |

Not how you sell a campground to me. Sorry. Started out strong then....
I have spots I go to which are more secluded and just as achingly beautiful. But without the Timmy's.

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/5/2009 2:06:32 PM | | hey nerd......indeed it may sound a little too civilized to be a really great camping experience, but.......it is and will be a GREAT camping experience. Maybe I could/should have been selective about certain details about this campground, but in the end I think it's best to relate the facts and let people decide for themselves. I would perhaps have thought the same as you, as I do usually prefer the out of the way camping experience with little or no amenities, but this is the first outing of 2009, it'll be cool at night, it's not a long w/end, and this is not only about enjoying a great camping experience, but also about meeting up with old friends and meeting some new ones as well. I urge anyone else that is thinking that this might be a little too civilized to be called real camping to have a look at the campground's web site before you decide. | |

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/5/2009 5:51:13 PM | I've been camping there for years, and is one of my favourite spots. Easy commute to Parksville, Qualicum, Coombes & Rathtrevor Park/Beach. It is family owned and operated, and consistantly wins awards for the best managed campsite in North America! Looking forward to re-connecting with old friends...missed the events last year due to business commitments, but am going to change that this year!!
Cheers, Andy. | |

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 3/5/2009 7:18:20 PM | Hey--This sounds great--I'll be there! While I can relate to more wilderness camping, this site sounds quite decent--lots of water to either play on or look over! Sadly, my truck and camper are up north in Telegraph Creek, so I'll be camping in a small tent...hope the weather cooperates...I'd be open to sharing an RV, paying my share of expenses, etc. I'm looking fwd to meeting you all there!
