What do you think about people who list how much money they make in a year on here? Is that supposed to impressed other people or something? Maybe they try to impress the McDonald workforce or something - So annoying.

For the same reason people post the size of their organs or pictures of their nude/semi-nude organs/body parts. It is hard to judge who is actually shallower. And why are all these acts shallow in the first place????

Women find money attractive. That's not even a bad thing. It means the guy can provide for a family. It also probably means he has the genes that cause behaviors that are conducive to success.

Perhaps -it is the only way for a person to validate that they are important.... and the only tool for some to measure them...

That in itself is very sad and limiting - for both parties! Life is so full of different variables - look for passion not for dollars.

I think if you get out the yardstick to measure financial success, it should be calibrated in millions of dollars. Below the level of financial independence it's all pretty much the same thing. Poverty is worse of course but the fear of it isn't much better. So by this system there is a good 5% of the population that even registers. Of the lesser 95%, maybe the measure is potential combined with ambition, or, an ability to be happy and content without wealth in the first place.

I believe that people who are not happy being poor working towards financial goals won't be any happier assuming they ever reach them. A couple who share goals and work together to achieve them have the togetherness to enjoy, and they lay the foundation for enjoyment of the rewards they earn through their work together.

As far as "enough" wealth represents comfort and peace of mind, then surely the ability to earn that much matters greatly. Beyond some basic level it must be a matter of preference. It would be good, I think, to be able to look ahead together sharing a view of possibilities.

Hehehe good one!

I guess the only people who really have a problem with it are people who earn less. Not that I'm saying it's right.

Women are attracted to men that are financially secure but doesn't mean that's the only thing they go for full stop. They're gonna think twice about a man shallow enough to state his salary unless they're in it for one thing only...

Cold hard cash.

Absolutely!

I dated a multi-millionaire....then left him for a Mr. Blue-Collar worker.

My Mum wouldn't talk to me for weeks except to say "So, going from riches to rags are you?".

ARGH! I was so happy though!

If he can help afford a family and pull his own weight, if he is a hard worker (read: not lazy) and has good work ethic, that is good enough for most women.

So, the first time I marry, it'll be for love. If that doesn't work....meh...I'm going for the cash...LOL

^^Yup! Although I must confess that my standards have increased since then. Cardboard boxes are so cramped unless you get those maytag one's that hold refrigerators.

I need a place to entertain the guests....at least....

You think you're joking, but you're not. Biologically speaking we instinctively look for a several things: health, social standing, and signs of sexual maturity.

Health and signs of sexual maturity are pretty obvious... social standing often comes in the form of money in today's society.

(I'm sure there are other things that people are programmed biologically to look for, but these were the ones that came to mind when I read your comment.)
