| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/16/2009 12:26:45 PM | your peaceful eyes make me feel better your peaceful heart makes me love better your peaceful mind make me understand better your peaceful body makes me relax better your peaceful spirit makes my spirit peaceful
but if you turn to anger, so will I for I am not good at not taking effect as much as I should be I've been lazy with keeping me from falling under the bus of subjectivity letting all my thoughts and feelings take hold of me and put me through hell some moments quite obviously
and in those times I forget to breathe to stop and let my breath calm me
so I will keep trying to be more like ....well.....me....actually for my peaceful eyes make me see better my peaceful heart makes me love better my peaceful mind makes me understand better my peaceful body makes me relax better my peaceful spirit makes me be peacefully
you.....me.....really it makes no difference, actually for we are one

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 8:58:39 AM | thank you...i'm glad the message came through.... please add any words, thoughts, prayers of your own!
this next one is not mine, but from one of my favorite albums these days - a double album that came out in 2004 called 'Crosby * Nash'.....the label is Sanctuary, but I have always thought that should have been the album's title :).....many songs from it could be on this thread, but this one especially stands out for me today.....written by Graham Nash.....
"Half Your Angels"
'Somewhere in Heaven wings are taking flight Flying over a worldly weight of hatred Hanging over a building in the rain
You got to Heaven blown across the sky Crying out for the angels to help you To rise up out of the ashes and the flames
Send me half your angels We're running out of time Send me half your angels I'll send you half of mine Hope they get there in time
And far below your Heaven hearts are wondering why Why would anyone hurt God's children? How could anyone harm them at all?
Send me half your angels We're running out of time Send me half your angels I'll send you half of mine Hope they get there in time
And while you're in Heaven sleeping on the wind Ask your heart to forgive this evil Ask your soul to forgive us all
Send me half your angels We're running out of time Send me half your angels I'll send you half of mine
Send me half your angels We're running out of time Send me half your angels I'll send you half of mine Hope they got there in time
Half your angels, goodbye'

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 9:31:15 AM | And a peace fell over the land, guided by the hand of love, the seat of power, and evil became homeless.
and Nature smiled!
The spirit winds stayed as the flutes played, echoing far and wide, and the sun smiled just like a child, as love becomes a bride.

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 9:47:12 AM | editing to add, as have just found your words, grizz..... thank you so much for bringing your truth here....you are so right...... everything lives in love, thrives in love, grows in love, is love (or the witholding of love).....peace, real peace is love... and real love is peace (i think)....
and manny, thank you for putting such wonderful and beautiful words here.... so very moving.....you know, I wasn't sure on the title whether to add 'With Love' .....'calling for peace with love'.....and I kept changing it until I decided to keep it simple.....but it seems we're all calling for peace with love..... I believe it is the only way......and so, on that note, I wish to post another of my very favorite songs by perhaps my very favorite artist..... posted early this morning on the lyrics thread also, so sorry if it's redundant... i can't get enough of it! :)
Eric Clapton ......."Let it Grow"
'Standing at the crossroads, trying to read the signs To tell me which way I should go to find the answer, And all the time I know, Plant your love and let it grow.
Let it grow, let it grow, Let it blossom, let it flow. In the sun, the rain, the snow, Love is lovely, let it grow.
Looking for a reason to check out of my mind, Trying hard to get a friend that I can count on, But there's nothing left to show, Plant your love and let it grow.
Let it grow, let it grow, Let it blossom, let it flow. In the sun, the rain, the snow, Love is lovely, let it grow.
Time is getting shorter and there's much for you to do. Only ask and you will get what you are needing, The rest is up to you. Plant your love and let it grow.
Let it grow, let it grow, Let it blossom, let it flow. In the sun, the rain, the snow, Love is lovely, let it grow.
Let it grow, let it grow, Let it blossom, let it flow. In the sun, the rain, the snow, Love is lovely, let it grow.'

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 10:19:17 AM | One of my favs by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young! from the Deja Vu album.
Teach Your Children by Graham Nash
You, who are on the road Must have a code That you can live by. And so, become yourself Because the past Is just a goodbye.
Teach, your children well Their father's hell Did slowly go by And feed them on your dreams The one they pick's The one you'll know by. Don't you ever ask them why If they told you, you would die So just look at them and sigh And know they love you.
And you (Can you hear and) Of tender years (Do you care and) Can't know the fears (Can you see we) That your elders grew by (Must be free to) And so please help (Teach your children) Them with your youth (You believe and) They seek the truth (Make a world that) Before they can die (We can live in)
Teach your parents well Their children’s hell Will slowly go by And feed them on your dreams The one they pick's The one you’ll know by.
Don’t you ever ask them why If they told you, you would cry So just look at them and sigh And know they love you.

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 10:56:14 AM | you know who.........................lol
Chimes Of Freedom Far between sundown's finish an' midnight's broken toll We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight An' for each an' ev'ry underdog soldier in the night An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.
In the city's melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched With faces hidden while the walls were tightening As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin' rain Dissolved into the bells of the lightning Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an' forsaked Tolling for the outcast, burnin' constantly at stake An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.
Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail The sky cracked its poems in naked wonder That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunder Striking for the gentle, striking for the kind Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind An' the unpawned painter behind beyond his rightful time An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.
Through the wild cathedral evening the rain unraveled tales For the disrobed faceless forms of no position Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts All down in taken-for-granted situations Tolling for the deaf an' blind, tolling for the mute Tolling for the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute For the misdemeanor outlaw, chased an' cheated by pursuit An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.
Even though a cloud's white curtain in a far-off corner flashed An' the hypnotic splattered mist was slowly lifting Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones Condemned to drift or else be kept from drifting Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale An' for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.
Starry-eyed an' laughing as I recall when we were caught Trapped by no track of hours for they hanged suspended As we listened one last time an' we watched with one last look Spellbound an' swallowed 'til the tolling ended Tolling for the aching ones whose wounds cannot be nursed For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones an' worse An' for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 4:24:28 PM | ahhhh.....'Teach your Children', indeed.....and...Dylan.....always on this mission.... thank you Manny and Grizz for posting those here.... Domut ....yes, it's been a long while since peace really pervailed on an individual level right through to the planetary level here.....yet the universe seems to be pretty peaceful 'out there'..... so perhaps the lack of peace is man-made, which means it can be changed.... I wrote this last September, realized it fits here......
make a new start it really is time we've neglected our bodies and hearts and focused all on our minds we've used each other and all but used up the gifts from our mother.... we just call her dirt
it really is time to make a new start to stop and listen to the beat of our heart to not just run to and fro but to pay attention as we go it isn't just our hearts we neglect but the heart of our mother.... this beloved planet
it's time to use our hearts and minds to break down these self imposed walls to help each other... for some really will not know how to fall they've been up in their towers surveying all and ordering from up there but it's meant they don't know what goes on down here
it's time to shake hands and give hugs to each other to stand on the earth and feel where our mother needs to be healed for she reflects our faults our cruelty and our insults for we've treated her like we do each other
and weren't we told long ago we need to honor our father and mother? weren't we told long ago we need to honor and respect each other? weren't we told long ago there is no separation or division that our fathers and mothers and friends and all others are one and the same?
yes.... it really is time to put an end to this game to know why we're here because we've forgotten in all the insanity..... we've forgotten our mission and it's so far from our minds it's time to remember we're part of humanity
all one....one heart....one mind....one body....one soul connected indescribably with each other and the whole as long as we live thinking of me, mine, you and yours we're destined to keep divided and so never see how we can be the loving and peaceful souls we were put here to be

| ~ Calling for Peace ~ Posted: 3/17/2009 11:51:29 PM | Dire Straits - "Brothers in Arms" ....written and sung so beautifully and truthfully by Mark Knopfler
'These mistcovered mountains Are a home now for me But my home are the lowlands And always will be Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms
Through the fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've watched all your suffering As the battles raged higher And though they did not hurt me so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones
No the sun's gone to hell And the moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms '

| Coven (??) ................ One Tin Soldier Posted: 3/18/2009 12:52:43 AM | Listen, children, to a story That was written long ago, 'Bout a kingdom on a mountain And the valley-folk below.
On the mountain was a treasure Buried deep beneath the stone, And the valley-people swore They'd have it for their very own.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgment day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.
So the people of the valley Sent a message up the hill, Asking for the buried treasure, Tons of gold for which they'd kill.
Came an answer from the kingdom, "With our brothers we will share All the secrets of our mountain, All the riches buried there."
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgment day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.
Now the valley cried with anger, "Mount your horses! Draw your sword!" And they killed the mountain-people, So they won their just reward.
Now they stood beside the treasure, On the mountain, dark and red. Turned the stone and looked beneath it... "Peace on Earth" was all it said.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgment day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgment day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.

| Coven (??) ................ One Tin Soldier Posted: 3/18/2009 6:17:21 AM | Ahhhh...that's^^^^ one of my daughter's favorite songs....from the movie "Billy Jack!"
In the mornings subtle wake, of evergreens and glass blue lake, while silent ripples whisper flow, from earth of spring begins to grow,
a newness rich with tears of dew, as warblers sing, as if on cue, mists of cotton, in linen white, quickly fade with sun's first light.
|
| Coven (??) ................ One Tin Soldier Posted: 3/18/2009 6:38:19 AM | Listening to the stillness grow, thunder distant rumbles low, raindrops fall from heavy skies, wiping sleep from mornings eyes, a passing burst as sun breaks through, a freshness filled with life anew. | |

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 3/18/2009 12:50:13 PM | yabbadoo - powerful song, thank you for posting it. grizz - again, such a powerful song and your post was perfect. and manny - your poems are very moving here -thank you. all and everything to do with peace - to call in /down/up/over for peace is my prayer here..... and so, as you mentioned the Beatles, of course I could not have a thread on this subject without this song and this man....
John Lennon - "Imagine"
'Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one'

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 3/18/2009 1:13:01 PM | Last Night I had the Strangest Dream ......Simon and Garfunkel
Last night I had the strangest dream I ever dreamed before I dreamed the world had all agreed To put an end to war I dreamed I saw a mighty room The room was filled with men And the paper they were signing said They'd never fight again
And when the papers all were signed And a million copies made They all joined hands and bowed their heads And grateful prayers were prayed And the people in the streets below Were dancing round and round And guns and swords and uniforms Were scattered on the ground
Last night I had the strangest dream I ever dreamed before I dreamed the world had all agreed To put an end to war

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 3/19/2009 6:17:36 PM | grizz, lipotufu, rosie....thank you, each of you.....so much truth in your words....rosie, absolutely, peace begins with each of us.... and always, to John Lennon - for his vision and ability to get his vision across to so many.....deep gratitude..... soon after Hurricane Katrina, my local community was invited to write about it, so I sat down to see if I could, and it ended up being a prayer for peace....
'It May Be Too Late to End Hate'
the devastating hurricane called katrina swept through new orleans killing so many of our citizens it's almost too much to imagine
the shock, the horror, the fear was so clear in the eyes of the masses who lost their lives and everything there, never to rise from the ashes
we live in a place where one can't escape the forces of nature's wrath, for we are helpless to stop its passage when our homes are in its path
the children all scream as they see parents and dreams disappear in the wind and the rain and we all know, can't help but feel great sorrow, for life will never be the same again
what have we done to deserve such guns from the gods who have shown us of late? their anger overflows into our lives it goes, and there it's decided, our fate
the answer's so clear I will yell in your ear, not whisper as so many do, we are here I swear to love all that's here if you can't, I feel sorry for you
war on this planet is like never before, it's in our minds and hearts and lands I cry for the bloodshed and shake my head, with tears covering my hands
I don't know what to do to end the brutality, except maybe to yell we have to remember to really honor Thee Mother, or our earth will go under and everything plunder into the depths of hell
yes, nature is cruel to all of us fools who think that we know best, that to kill is ok, let's have a party and play, (because it's not us anyway)
we steal and lie and pollute our state, but it's really really getting too late if we don't make a stand for our beloved mankind that still lives in all of this land
I will send out prayers of peace and love to heal all of this terrible strife, but my heart is worried because we haven't hurried enough to fix our plight.
what will it take to turn things around so that peace and life can really abound in a world torn by storms and so many alarms of the internal and external kind?
how can we change this faulty grand plan that may eventually get us to heaven? I fear it's too late, for we have made a stake in the heart of the land and our brethren
yes, the gods are angry like never before our energy is getting way too black, and certainly can not open the door to the treasures of life on earth so please, help me get it back
if we all remember to really help our neighbor and that means across the world and end this state in which we dwell that we all seem to know so well before it's all gone in a whirl
our days are numbered, and that means don't just give up in fear we must stay out of trouble if we want to end this struggle and stop all of this right here
for we may not be here next year.
