I never would have met him if I didn't come on POF and join in on the social events. I met him at a POF dance/party!
I still hang around 'cause I keep making great friends and still go to a weekly POF event!

Posted: 12/22/2009 10:06:16 AM | blast from the past--- Not Done Living and GrUvGrL (combined as Not_done_Living_Together) have been together for over 3 years now, moved from condos/apartments to a House, and have a very happy family.
We also met at a meet, (that Gruv co-ordinated). When it happens it happens and if it's right it will stick.
This year we will be hosting christmas, and ti will eb the first time our extended families (my parents/brother) and he extended family (her parents/brother) will meet.

Posted: 12/25/2009 9:13:03 PM | Absolutely full of success stories here! At my company Christmas party this year 5 out of 6 couples at my table had met thru POF, 4 couples together 2 years or more! The 6th couple has been married 25+years (my boss LOL).
AND I married my fishy this year so this is our first Christmas married after 3 years dating - best Christmas gift ever! We found eachother here-POF works!
Take your time! It really is true that you find "the one" when you arent really looking! Have fun in the forums!

How is that attitude working out for you Mr. unemployed high sex drive twice married no car man? I'd block you too.
Teachers contribute to the well being of society. Maybe you were giving yourself a pat on the back for being a gym teacher. The sweatsuit in your profile picture is sure to woo the usually unattainable.
Success can mean a lot of things. I have had a lot of success from visiting this site. Some would say because I'm still single, it can't be a success. I say, if I weren't still single, it might be a failure. :) | |

Many have asked if it is really possible to meet THE person of her/his dreams on this site.
My answer is yes, definitely, but be patient. It may not be the first few dates. I also met a few not-so-nice men, but most were fine men, but, for some reason, "chemistry" was not there, or distance was a problem. POF sent me potential matches. Many live more-than 2 hr drive. This creates a problem even before meeting.
Now, the happy ending (so far):
POF sent me a list of potential matches. One face looked very familiar and the same sealed it. He was a man I knew in college. We had a brief, fun flirtatious (but innocent) liaison. I had just graduated college and was preparing to move cross country to begin another course of study. We had spent the day at a graduation party at his family's home- sneaking outside now and then for a little privacy and sweet, youthful kisses. This was in the early 1980s. The last thing he said to me before I left was, " We'll meet again some day and things will be different." I never forgot him.
We re-met for dinner the night after Thanksgiving 2009. We talked and laughed and ate for hours. We have, of course, naturally aged, but he looks as beautiful to me now as he did then.
Our second date was a few days later . We drove separately and met at a museum. Since then, the next date he cooked for me, we moved furniture to the sides of the living room , found music we loved in college and tried to remember how to dance the Hustle , we've been shopping together, went to the ballet, casino, visited family, went to an art show, watch football together on TV, DVDs, and lots of quiet time- just me and him talking all night long. No matter what we do, I always have fun just being with him.
No one can really see into the future, but my guess is that we've found what we sought- the sort of thing for which we all are seeking~ to love and be loved is the greatest part of life. If I had not found him on POF, .......I don't want to even imagine life without him now.
My advice? DO NOT give up! If someone looks nice to you, don't be shy- write!! Meet as many people as you can. In addition of re-uniting with the love of my life, I have also made some fine friends.

If you put up a halfway intelligent, interesting profile you will get tons of contact, male or female. Avoid stupid profile mistakes, like unflattering pics, opionated self descriptions and show a willingness to meet halfway and you will be meeting tons of great people.
