Posted: 3/21/2009 1:47:43 PM | what a super game, esp 2nd half, jones had penalty last kick of the game to win triple crown and leave ireland with championship, think we deserved the win thou, delighted 61 long yrs, drico and oconnell are 2 of the greatest players ever to play the game and if they had retired without the grandslam would have been tragic! role on lions....
ps fair play to welsh, good loosers, gatlands comments that welsh do not like irish is crap, always got on well with welsh, great people | |

The ref was crucifying us...allowed O Gara to be targeted all day and only seemed to notice Irish legs and hands at the breakdown...but we still should have been well out of sight with ten minutes to go...considering our territorial dominance and the fact that the Welsh never consistently threatened to cross the whitewash I'm amazed that we could still have lost it with the last kick of the game. But, if any team deserved a break to win a GS it was this team, they have been so unlucky so often, no one deserved it more... | |

Posted: 3/23/2009 8:53:26 AM | To be honest I think the Irish lads allowed the comments from Warren Gatland to needle them and they gave away some unnecessary penalties that could have cost us the match. They didn't need much provoking from the Welsh side in order to let their tempers spill over when up to now they have been such a disciplined side.
Having said all that.. what a win! :-)
And well done Bernard Dunne too, to cap off a great weekend of sport for Ireland. | |
