| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 3/25/2009 5:25:00 PM | | You'd think after going 0-16 a franchise would make some big offseason moves to show everyone that they will no longer be the floor mat of the NFL, but so far their big acquisitions have been Maurice Morris and Bryant Johnson. I mean, be realistic. Do they really think that those guys will make them a better team? What do you think? | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 3/25/2009 7:30:12 PM | | I don't think those guys will make the Lions a better team. The Lions should get a good player in the draft, but they need a lot of help. The Lions should get 3 wins at least | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 3/26/2009 10:28:25 PM | The Lions have so many holes to fill that they probably won't be contenders for a couple of years. That being said, they have brought in a couple of guys that are an upgrade - That LB from Seattle and Grady Jackson come to mind. They've also got the draft coming up, so HOPEFULLY, they'll not screw that up!
But the thing that's going to have the biggest impact on the future of the Lions is the changes in the front office and a new coaching staff. No more lame-brained roster moves by that announcer dude! And no more "pounding the rock" from a guy who just wasn't cut out to be a head coach.

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 3/27/2009 8:31:07 AM | | They will be lucky to win 2 games this year, their defense still sucks, and with Culpepper at the helm, they are not going to score many points also. I do like the new coach, but thing Mayhew and Lewland are hopeless. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 3/28/2009 8:08:41 AM | | Detroit Lion's Fan all the way, doesn't matter if they go 0-16 for another couple years. At least I can say that Drew Stanton VII threw to ex-Lions son Charles Rodgers VI for a touchtown with Jason Hanson VIII kicking the winning field goal in SuperBowl 2105. | |

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/2/2009 8:44:04 PM | | I'm a Lions fan and always have been "sad to say" All their coaches have sucked, they have bad taste in Quarter backs...I think what Detroit needs to do is clear most the team. Just get ALMOST ALL of them off the team and start new. Same with coaching. Whole 9 yards. I don't know why they kept Rod as the coach for so long...Basically with them being 0-16 it show's that anyone on POF could have done just as good or better then him | |

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/4/2009 2:34:06 PM | | They drove Barry Sanders to early retirement when he was still at his peak and they have gotten even worse since then. How about worst sports franchise instead of just football? | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/6/2009 5:22:12 PM | In their defense they had a lot of injuries this year.
Had a couple of games where they could have won.
Lost Barry Sanders....
Although Kitna did allright for what he had.

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/7/2009 12:23:25 AM | if the lions dont do something stupid (google matt stafford) then maybe they can build. step one DRAFT THE LB CURRY FROM WAKE FORREST!!! take a lesson from someone named bill parcells and build your team from the interior line on offense and the front 7 on defense. do not worry about stafford or crab tree or Moreno or those stars there will always be talented people. I think curry is a once in a decade player. you can go pick up a rb or a wr anywhere and u already have a game breaker. ur qb situation can wait stay with culpepper he is older now and more of a dilfer but hey dilfer won a superbowl. take the lb then take a DE and then take the best player on the board regardless of position ( unless its a WR of course) No mistake is un fixable ( shout out to dolphins fans and older bucs fans) | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/7/2009 1:43:48 AM | Bill Parcels won as many playoff games with the Cowboys as the Lions coaches during the same time period. The Cowboys are possibly more embarrassing because they haven't done much more with all the $$$ they have spent on talent.
The Lions are the worst NFL franchise for their 50 years of futility (and counting) and now in a class by themselves because the Arizona Cardinals managed to qualify for the Super Bowl in a pathetic NFC. Cleveland Browns have had some mediocre teams in the same period, but are in the discussion.
Lions may come closer in 2009 to matching the all-time NFL futility record set by Tampa Bay than anyone would ever think. The losing streak would be much longer going back to 2007 had the Lions lost to another pathetic team in the KC Chiefs. The Lions lost 7 of their last 8 games in the prior season.
0-16 is only part of the story. It is a 1-23 losing streak excluding preseason games. I think the Bucs went 0-26 as an expansion team.
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/7/2009 2:06:32 AM | | the lions are a bad team overall, they get next 2 nothing from there drafts, if u look around the nfl all the good teams do well in there drafts. nothing will change for the lions untill they do well drafting. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 4/7/2009 2:44:42 AM | | You mean you wouldn't have drafted Chuck Long, Andre Ware, Joey Harrington, etc.? Lions have had exciting skill players--the best example obviously being Barry Sanders. However, the Lions have rarely built a team on both sides of the ball and more specifically, attempts to build adequate offensive and defensive lines have been futile. Long time Lions fans only have the one playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys in '91 to hold on to. The next one in Ford Field may not be visible by the naked eye. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/22/2009 7:57:06 AM | | They should be considerably better this yr. They acquired some game changers. Hopefully my Boy Jon Runyan will come home and end his career with the Lions. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/22/2009 8:28:45 AM | | I think they should have drafted a great OL and then next year draft one of the awesome qb's that will come out. Now they have a rookie qb with no OL and they will suck this year. They should have at least built the OL up in the draft and then they'd be more ready for a rookie qb next year and they would have alot more to choose from. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/22/2009 10:43:40 AM | | The Lions franchise will remain amongst the dregs of the NFL until the Fords are not owners....they can change stadiums, executives, coaches and coaching staffs, and players, and as long as William Clay Ford or anyone else in the family is in ownership, nothing will change. Period. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/22/2009 3:59:00 PM | it is gettin that start of, football season time of year again.as far as im concerned it is the best time of year, excluding the holidays. the lions, poor fellas played their hearts out and lost alot of close games. too bad there is not a rule for effort. | |

The Lions franchise will remain amongst the dregs of the NFL until the Fords are not owners....
........and Ford is currently 1.4 billion in DEBT!...they lost about $14 billion last year alone and are now re-structuring tightly.....so they are probably using alot of the NFL revenues to fund their automotive plant and pay their workers!......as long as the Lions remain a "cash-cow" for them, they won't be putting it up for sale!
according to espn stats..........even though they were piss poor, the average attendance figure for the Lions was still over 54,000 a game!!!.............now multiply that by the price of tickets sold!!.....why the heck should the owners spend more money on better players?
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/22/2009 9:17:33 PM | Wow that is amazing 0-16 and they always fill the seats with 54,000. I wonder if its part of the benefits working at the plant. Less heath care and you have to watch the Bosses team play or get fired! | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/23/2009 10:42:38 AM | | One very sad fact about this franchise is that they are the only one to have played in every season in the Super Bowl era and not appeared in the big game. The closest they got was when they played in the NFC Championship game in 1991....and lost to the eventual Super Bowl winner, Washington. | |

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/25/2009 8:58:20 AM | Sum1Reel, I must admit, that is quite an attendance for a franchise this horrible. It's not like the Lions needed to go out and spend a lot of money to make the franchise better. They could have made the team better in the draft, but somehow they screwed it all up, again. I watched the entire day 1 of the draft and even though I'm not a Lions fan, I was very frustrated with what they did on day 1. Day 2 was even worse. I'm going to show who I would have drafted with the same picks as the Lions and after the season is over, or the next 2 or 3 seasons, I guarantee my bunch will be a whole lot better than who they ended up with. Let's compare!
Detroit Lions Selections 1. Matthew Stafford (QB) 20. Brandon Pettigrew (TE) 33. Louis Delmas (S) 76.DeAndre Levy (OLB)- Via Jets Trade 82.Derrick Williams (WR) 115.Sammy Lee Hill (DT)- Via Jets Trade 192.Andre Brown (RB) 228.Lydon Murtha (OT)- Via Jets Trade 235.Zack Follett (OLB) 255.Dan Gronkowski (TE)
My Selections 1. Matthew Stafford (QB)- A Franchise Decision, not mine. 20. Michael Oher (OT) 33. Rey Maualuga (LB) 65. Michael Johnson (DE) 108.Cornelius Ingram (TE) - Trade with Dolphins sending 82,192, 235 and 255 for 108, 161 and 165 161. Duke Robinson (OG) - Via Dolphin Trade 165. Michael Hamlin (S) - Via Dolphins Trade
Sign rookie free agents Branden Ore (RB) Greg Carr (WR) Michael Bennett (DE) Dannell Ellerbe (LB) Domonique Johnson (DB)

They could have made the team better in the draft, but somehow they screwed it all up, again.
Another reason why the Fords should not own the team...Matt Millen was fired, and they promoted within, Martin Mayhew, a Matt Millen lackey, who drafts very much like Millen. Again, I state....the Lions will not turn things around with the Ford family owning the team.
