Here's a quickie for tomorrow morning:
MACADAMIA FRENCH TOAST
1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
4 eggs
2/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup Granulated Pure Cane Sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
Powdered Sugar and maple syrup, optional

Arrange bread slices in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg until blended; pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. Pour butter into a 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Transfer bread slices to prepared pan; sprinkle with nuts. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until bread is golden brown. Dust with confectioners' sugar and serve with syrup if desired. 8 servings.
ENJOY & HAPPY SUNDAY!

If I ever see another Macadamia I would probably puke! Growing up in Queensland Australia we had a Macadamia tree in our backyard always brimming with fruit and used to stuff myself with them to the point I can't even look at them even after all these years. Same goes with Mangoes another over-indulge in my younger years

Actually, the macadamia is mild enough that you might try an unsalted almond. Also, I've sometimes use orange marmalde instead of the syrup!

Over indulge on macadamias? Hmm, I can see how that can happen.

omg...that recipe sounds yummy. How many does that feed? Seems like an army at 1 loaf. I will definitely try, but will need to adjust down.
thank you for the idea.

Greeney, it serves about 8; depends on how thick you cut your French bread. Rusty

I have also added orange marmalade and used pecans instead of the macadamias.

Yum! Thank you Rusty!

I love big breakfasts on Sundays and holidays. I'm always looking for some new ideas for overnight French bread/toast casseroles or bread pudding type recipes. I'll have to try this one soon!

How about chocolate covered macadamias, can one ever get sick of those?
