You...Being THE guy ponders over the wine list and then asks the drinks waitress :Do you have any leg opener wine?
What the hell is going through a guy's brain to make him ask such a thing? Sure the option is there to think it, but why say it in front of your date???
Sorry but it placed a RED flag on my date as I assumed the guy was either over confident or just plain mad.
So guy's/gal's what have you had thrown at you? How did you handle the situation? | |

How did you react? How did he react when you reacted?
Besides, all alcohol beverages decrease inhibitions, so one could argue that, in a way, all wines are leg openers for both sexes. But thinking it is one thing, saying it at the beginning of a date as a comment is another. | |

Absolutely nothing! Nervousness caused by not knowing the "right" thing to say will cause some guys to the locker room material as filler to contemplated conversation. Usually it doesn't happen until after a few drinks but hey, this guy was special.
You could always respond that his question was unexpected and seemingly rude but you'd rather ask what he meant by it rather than make a false assumption. If he's cognizant of what he said and it wasn't his normal character, there's a chance that he may apologize. If his ego has the best of him he may act oblivious to what he has said and may even defend it as being just a harmless joke. Either way, it's your call on how you'd respond given your interpretation of his semaphore. | |

Posted: 3/30/2009 8:16:11 AM | On occasion, especially in front of a girl I like, I've been known to say stupid things and I don't realize how bad it comes across until it's out of my mouth and too late.
For example, I was out one nite and there was a girl wearing some rather interesting plaid pants which I thought were really cool. So I started talking to her and she said how her friends had been making fun of her all nite to which I responded "Look at my shirt, I'm used to getting flack for ugly clothes", which she took as an insult to her clothes and that pretty much killed the conversation.
So it's tough to say, maybe he was a jerk or maybe he was trying to be funny and failed. | |

You could have had a lot of fun with that. I would have smiled and asked the waitress,
"Just bring us a bottle of your finest champagne, and let my friend here show us how to open it between his legs and see if he can make the cork disappear" | |

I'd buy the most expensive meal on the menu. If I drank, I'd order the most expensive drinks, then just before the waitress clears the table I'd excuse myself for a restroom break and call a cab. While waiting for the cab, I'd have some desert, coffee, and or an after dinner drink, and when the cabbie shows up look this A**hole in the eyes and say, " Damn... guess she brought the WRONG fricken bottle of wine. Get up, get in your cab, and cross Bozo off your list when you get home. But that's just my humble opinion. | |
